CARTHAGE - James C. "J.C." Hililard, 69, of 792 Summer Hill Church Road, died Tuesday (6/2/03) at his residence.
A native of Chatham County, he was a son of the late Ed and Vannie Wilkie Hilliard. He retired from the timber business.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Summer Hill Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Joseph Peters and the Rev. Roland Reynolds.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Garner Hilliard; a son, Keith Hilliard and wife Kim of Carthage; daughters, Pat Garner and husband Todd of Carthage and Phyllis Moore and husband Rick of West End; stepsons, Mike Lewis and wife Kathy of West End, Kirk Lewis and wife Melanie of Chattanooga, Tenn., and David Lewis and wife Cindy of Berryville, Va.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Reynolds of Carthage; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.

LILLIAN JOHNSON
CAMERON - Lillian Alberta Johnson, of 220 Dodge Lane, died Sunday (6/1/03) at home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Cameron, by the Rev. Larry Watson. Burial will follow in Green Grove AME Zion Church cemetery.
She is survived by sisters, Katherine Jackson and Essie Davis, both of Carthage, and Lillie Davis at home, seven nieces and six nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Horton Funeral Home.
SONYA BAKER
SANFORD - Sonya Yvette Baker, 24, of 810 W. Rose St., died Sunday (6/1/03) at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Traditional service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Calvary Baptist Church, Sanford, by the Rev. Gerome Williams. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Lee Church cemetery.
Surviving are her mother and father, Sherry Baker of Sanford and Elbert McLean of Broadway; brothers, Anthony Baker and Morris McLean, both of Sanford; a sister, Chrystal McLean of Sanford; her grandmother, Annie Ruth Baker of Sanford; and her grandfather, James Buie of Carthage.
The family will receive friends at 810 W. Rose St.

BURTON LAMBERT
GOLDSTON - Burton "George" Lambert, 66, of 2746 St. Luke Church Road, died Sunday (6/1/03) at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Goldston, by Pastor Drury Underwood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Lambert; a daughter, Michele Lambert of Pittsboro; a son, Burton A. Lambert of Orange Park, Fla.; his mother, Rachel Lambert Rogers of Goldston; a sister, Cora Webb of Jersey City, N.J.; a brother, Earl Lambert; four grandchildren, and aunts and uncles.
Arrangements are by Knotts Funeral Home of Sanford.
MINNIE WOOD
SANFORD - Funeral for Minnie L. Wood, 85, of Sanford, who died Friday (5/30/03), was held Tuesday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. George Dark. Burial followed in Lee Memory Gardens.
The congregation sang.
Floralbearers and pallbearers were relatives and friends of the family.

GOLDSTON - Clarence Keith Fields, 45, of 2879 Roberts Chapel Road, died Tuesday (6/3/03) in Goldston.

SANFORD - Harold Leearn "Chuck" Confair, 59, of Sanford, died Sunday, (6/1/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira Sutton. A private burial will follow at a later date.
Born in Clinton, Pa., Mr. Confair was a son of the late Charlie and Minnie Bruss Confair. Mr. Confair loved cars and motorcycles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Beard Confair; daughters, Candace Confair Oldham of Angier and Brandi Nicole Confair of Sanford; grandchildren, Savannah Oldham and Matthew Farfaglia; a sister, Kyleen Clark and husband Robert of Lock Haven, Pa.; brothers, Don Bechdel and wife Beverly of Virginia Beach and Jack Bechdel and wife Dona of Bellefonte, Pa.; an aunt, Ida Belle Keller of Centre Hall, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

LEAH SPENCER
CARTHAGE - Leah Price Spencer, 82, of 304 McReynolds St., died Sunday (6/1/03) at home.
A native of Cresco, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Roy Merton and Elsie Ulcler Price. She was a graduate of Westchester College in Westover, Pa., and retired as a teacher with Moore County Schools. She was an active member of the Carthage United Methodist Church where she was an organist for 35 years. She was also a former Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and belonged to the Carthage Garden Club, Women's Club and Women's Circle.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carthage United Methodist Church by the Rev. Terry Huffines and the Rev. Lovell Ailes. Burial will follow in Cross Hill Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Colin G. Spencer Jr.; a daughter, Mary Foix and husband Tony of Oregon City, Ore.; sons, Colin G. Spencer III, at home, Donald Spencer and wife Elaine of Carthage; a sister, Hertha Rouse of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, James Price of Sarasota, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
MURIEL BOLDUC
SANFORD - Muriel Cecil Levesque Bolduc, 68, of 687 Sheriff Watson Road, died Monday (6/2/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Woonsocket, R.I., she was a daughter of the late Theodore Levesque and Doris Vallee Levesque. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Doyle Bolduc.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church by the Rev. John Forbes.
She is survived by sons, John D. Bolduc II of New Castle, Del., Tim Bolduc and wife Sheila of Sanford, and Kevin Bolduc of Hopatcong, N.J.; a daughter, Kelly A. McCutcheon and husband William of Bel Aire, Md.; and eight grandchildren.

SANFORD - Linda Carol Byrd Dollar, 58, of 714 Westover Drive, died Sunday (6/1/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Born in Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Paul James Byrd and Sally Mae Holman Byrd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee Dollar.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Buffalo Cemetery by the Rev. Wyatt Coley.
She is survived by sisters, Frances Zupkus and Margaret Phillips, both of Sanford, and Polli Whitman of Fayetteville.

CURTIS GUNTER
MONCURE - Curtis Atlas Gunter, 61, of 242 Bottom Road, died Friday (5/30/03) at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
He was a native of Chatham County.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Knotts Funeral Home of Pittsboro by the Rev. Zenobia Crump. Burial will follow in the Pittsboro Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Raven Judge of Moncure; sons, Ken Hackney and Fredrick Hackney, both of Moncure; brothers, Clyde Gunter and Victor Gunter, both of Sanford; sisters, Alice Hackney, Linda Gunter, Verta Gunter, Bernadette Buie and Sharon Fuller, all of Moncure; and an uncle.

MERLENE MCCALLISTER
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Merlene Lane McCallister, formerly of Sanford, died Wednesday (5/29/03).
Funeral services will be held Saturday at Nazarene Missionary Church.
She is survived by sisters, Corine L. Edwards of Sanford, Arlene McCormick of Fairbanks, Ala., and Emmalene L. Carey of Indianapolis.
Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home, 2451 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Ave., is in charge of the services.
