RUBY WICKER
SANFORD - Ruby Louise Wicker, 79, of Sanford, died Friday (7/11/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Charles L. Robertson and Jessie Gertrude Young Robertson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Wicker. She resided in Redlands, Calif., for more than 20 years. She enjoyed bingo, reading, needlework and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Larry Wicker of Ontario, Calif.; daughters, Virginia Graham of Redlands, Calif., Linda Parrish of Highlands, Calif., Vickie Allen of Mentone, Calif., Sandra McMillan of Sanford, Margaret Price of Angier and Wanda Smith of Sanford; a brother, Gerald Robertson of Clarksville, Texas, and a sister, Era McGee of Roxton, Texas; 29 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lee Memory Gardens with the Rev. James Bowden.
Arrangements are by Miller-Boles Funeral Home.

SANFORD - Funeral services for Linda Davis LaVerdure, 55, of 223 McDonald Road, who died Wednesday (7/9/03), were held Saturday at Olivia Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Walton and Nichole Dickens. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pianist was Hilly Borkowski. The congregation sang.
Pallbearers were Timmy Hickman, Gary Maddox, Charles Coleman, Dean Shaw, Larry Coleman and Robert Odom.
Honorary pallbearers were Sharon Staley, Lacy Thomas, Kelly Godfrey, Dale McNeill, Dianne McNeill and Dianne Douglas.

MAMERS - Graveside service for Louise Collins Norris, 70, of Mamers, who died Friday (7/11/03), was held Monday at Broadway Cemetery by the Rev. Martin Groover. Burial was in Broadway Cemetery.
Vocalist was Durward Upchurch.
Pallbearers were Thomas Collins, Brian Collins, Timothy Thomas and Lynwood Holland.

SANFORD - Funeral services for Leslie Jean Parson Felicio, 37, of 6730 Deerfield Drive, who died Thursday (7/10/03), were conducted Sunday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Elton Bryan and Donald Flynn. Burial followed in Lee Memory Gardens.
The musical group New Mercy sang. Organist was Jimmy Jones. Jean Parson and Joan Gebbia sang a duet.
Pallbearers were John Paul Johnson, Robbie Felicio, Jason Felicio, Bobby Felicio, Robert French, Steven Flynn and Carl Smith.
Honorary pallbearer was George Gebbia Jr.
WILLIE MCLEOD
ABERDEEN -Funeral service for Willie Russell McLeod, of 148 Creek Ridge Road, who died Tuesday (7/8/03), was held Saturday at Fryes Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Vass, by Elder Kent McMillian. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
The Old Testament reading was by Elder Larry Frye and New Testament reading was by Eldress Mary Kelly. Elder Kent McMillian gave the prayer.
Acknowledgement was by Mother Louise Frye. Remarks by Elder James Lee. The church choir sang. Elder Kent McMillian gave the eulogy. James Spearman was organist.
Floral bearers were Evelyn Eaddy, Margaret Peterson, Renie Harris and Bernice Elliott.
Pallbearers were Arthur Frye, James Walker, Elvis Elliott, Glenn Elliott, Richard Hebron and Donald Gwyn.

SANFORD - Viola Elliott, 56, of Sanford, died Monday (7/14/03) at her residence.

MARTHA MCLEOD
ATHENS, Ga. - Martha Kluttz McLeod, 75, of 130 Maple Circle, died Saturday (7/12/03).
A native of High Point, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Annie Laurie Kluttz of Sedgefield.
She graduated from Women's College at University of North Carolina and later worked at Melville Dairies in Burlington, where she met her future husband, John A. McLeod Jr. After they married, they lived in his hometown of Sanford until 1959, when they moved with their two young sons to Athens. The lived and worked there the rest of their lives.
Mrs. McLeod became an active member of the Athens Junior Assembly, where she served as president from 1969-1970. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Heritage Garden Club, the Athens Country Club and the Wednesday Night Supper Club.
In 1972, she began working at Athens Regional Medical Center in the personnel department where she remained for nearly 30 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church, Athens. Burial will be at Oconee Hills Cemetery. The family received friends at Bernstein Funeral Home on Monday.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Julie Mcleod of Athens and Bob and Roberta McLeod of Atlanta, and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to VistaCare Hospice Foundation, 767 Oglethorpe Ave., Athens, Ga. 30606, the American Cancer Society, or the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, Athens.

PITTSBORO - Claudia Branton Holleman, 92, of Pittsboro, died Sunday (7/13/02) at Croasdale Village Care Unit in Durham.
A native of Wake County, she was retired from Chatham Mills. She was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pittsboro Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Gooch. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Holleman, and a daughter, Louise Hathaway.
She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Reeves of Pittsboro; a granddaughter, Norma Shivers of Apex; two grandsons, Andy Barber of Pittsboro and Eddie Hathaway of Morganton; three great-grandchildren, Brittney Hathaway of Morganton, Cindy Hathaway of Tennessee and A.J. Barber of Goldston; a special friend of the family, Clarence Hearn of Apex; and many loving nieces and nephews and the devoted and caring staff and caregivers of Croasdale Village in Durham.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Griffin Funeral Service.

SILER CITY - Lois Brady Scott, 93, of 7166 Jordan Road, Ramseur, formerly of Siler City, died Tuesday (7/15/03) at Universal Healthcare, Ramseur.
A native of Chatham County, she was member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church and attended First Wesleyan Church. She was a member of the Ladies Bible Class. She was retired from A.J. Schneierson and Son. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Scott, and a son, Cleo Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Wesleyan Church, 608 N. Third St., by the Rev. Ray Gooch and the Rev. Kevin Stumbo. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.
She is survived by a son, James D. Scott and wife Faye of Huntersville; daughters, Nellie S. Haith and husband Wilbert, Nancy S. Hogan and husband Arnold and Elizabeth S. Glass and husband Hurley, all of Siler City, and Lessie S. Straughn and husband Ikey of Pittsboro; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Scott of Raleigh; a sister-in-law, Lucy Powers of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 N. Second Ave., Siler City, and at other times at the home of the daughter, Nancy Hogan, 927 W. Sixth St., Siler City.
