She was preceded in death by her husband Frank.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Whittington of Fayetteville; sons, Melvin Yow and wife Faye of Lillington and Sammy Yow and wife Darlene of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Summerville Presbyterian Church cemetery.

BROADWAY - Funeral for Lathan Hannis Norton, 71, of 1274 Holly Springs Church Road, who died Thursday (9/25/03), was conducted Saturday by the Rev. Jerry Parsons. Burial followed in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Mike Norton, David Norton, Joel Norton, Timothy Norton, Marty Breswitz, Richie Norton, Robbie Norton and Ray Collins.
Pianist was Cynthia Spivey. Organist was Richard Oyster.

SANFORD - Billy William Capps, 71, of 371 Buchanan Farm Road, died Thursday (9/25/03) at his residence.
Born in McColl, S.C., he was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Capps and Gladys Freeman Capps McCracken, and brothers, Leslie and Dewey Capps.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lee's Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. James Bowden and the Rev. Emerson Woodall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Monroe Capps; a daughter, Annette Capps Linkous and husband Bill of Sanford; a brother, Jerry Capps of Sanford; a sister, Gladys Lanier of Sanford; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Mrs. Leo Gibbs Frazier, formerly of Sanford, died Saturday (9/20/03) in Columbia, S.C.
Surviving are her husband, Willie James; a son, Samuel Grippie; a daughter, Willie Mae; a sister, Elizabeth Plush; and brothers, James Gibbs and Lindell Lyles.

SANFORD - Funeral for James Loas McGilvary, who died Tuesday (9/23/03), was held Friday at Rogers Memorial Chapel by Elder Kermit Nichols. Interment followed in Jonesboro Cemetery. Dedication of grave was by Elder Kermit Nichols.
Chorister was Stephanie Fife. Organist was Marcia Gandolph. Special music was by Stephanie and Jessica Fife. Invocation was by Sharon McGilvary Laney. Eulogy was by Madge McGilvary. Speaker was Elder Scott Moore. Closing prayer was by Gayle Gertsch.
Pallbearers were James D. McGilvary Jr., Richard Revels, James D. McGilvary III, Daniel McGilvary, George Laney and William Matthews.

SANFORD - Funeral for Betty Louise Jones Baker, 62, of 143 Kelly Road, who died Tuesday (9/23/03), was held Friday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway by the Rev. Pearl Castleberry and the Rev. Robert Davis. Burial followed in Broadway Town Cemetery.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Panteon Municipal Cemetery in Pungarabatito, Guerrero, Mexico.

SANFORD - Funeral for Raymond Taylor, 65, of 3613 Flintcreek Road, who died Monday (9/22/03), was held Friday at Horton Funeral Home by Bishop Halvester Gupton. Burial will follow at a later date.
Old Testament scripture was read by Minister Janice Pearson. New Testament scripture was read by the Rev. Gary Lee. Prayer of comfort was given by Minister Laura Brown. Pianist and soloist was Justice Griffin. The congregation sang. Acknowledgments were given by Minister Alma Gupton.
Presentation of U.S. Navy flag was by Roger Judd.

SANFORD - Wanda Allred Johnson, 47, of 914 Washington Ave., died Wednesday (11/26/03) at Chapel Hill Rehabilitation Center, Chapel Hill.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Knotts Funeral Home of Sanford. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Jackie Allred of Salisbury; her mother, Drucilla Allred of Sanford; sisters, Priscilla Woods and husband Robert of Wilson, Joan Allred and husband Robert and Jane Donaldson and husband Willie, all of Sanford, and Karen McAllister and husband Herbert of Lillington; brothers, Mike Allred and wife Cindy of Sanford, Marshall Allred of Rockingham, Darrell Allred and wife Rosa of Greensboro and Andre Allred and wife Cynthia of Charlotte; two grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

SANFORD - Nancy Latta Maddox, 83, of 3201 Lee Ave., died Thursday (11/27/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Born in Durham County, she was a daughter of the late Numa Cleveland Latta and Mary Roberts Latta. She was preceded in death by brothers, N.C. Latta, Jack Latta and Bill Latta, and a sister, Marie Maddox.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Buffalo Cemetery by Melvin Murphy.
Surviving are her husband, Jonas Maddox; sons, Jerry L. Maddox of Sanford and Billy Ray Maddox of Miami, Fla.; daughters, Linda Maddox Thomas and Mary Rose Magyar, both of Miami Springs, Fla., and Jackie Sue Murphy of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Beatrice Volness of Minneapolis, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Born in Hoke County, he was a son of the late James Benjamin Marks and Sarah Wright Marks.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church cemetery by the Rev. Thomas Williams.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Faulk Marks; sons, Edwin Marks and wife Pat of Cameron and Jerry Marks of Coats; daughters, Sadie Flynn and husband A.G. and Patricia Hennings and husband Jimmie, all of Cameron, Glenda Little and husband Doug of Linden, and Cathy Murchison and husband Tommy of Sanford; a sister, Ruby McFayden of Burgaw; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

ROY SPIVEY
SANFORD - Roy Sowers Spivey, 79, of 4008 Henley Road, died Thursday (11/27/03) at his residence.
Born in Harnett County, he was a son of the late John Byrd Spivey and Clyde Smith Spivey. He was a retired U.S. mail carrier. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in campaigns in Ardennes, Rhineland and central Europe. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, Eamet Campaign Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Center United Methodist Church cemetery by the Rev. Richard Farmer and the Rev. Bill Mitchell.
Surviving are his wife, Ina Lemons Spivey; a son, Terry J. Spivey of Sanford; a sister, Mary Wooten of Carthage; and brothers, William M. Spivey and Russell O. Spivey, both of Sanford.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Center United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
