SANFORD - Amy Lori Davis Yoder, 39, of 2804 Sandy Creek Church Road, died Sunday (11/23/04) at Central Carolina Hospital.
A native of Columbus County, she was a graduate of Appalachian State University. She was a fourth-grade teacher at Broadway Elementary School. She was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church and was on the Children's Council Committee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira Sutton and the Rev. Mark Meadows. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Lee Yoder Jr.; a son, MacKensie Aaron Yoder, at home; parents, Ernest L. Davis and Faye Morton Davis of Hurdle Mills; and brothers, Ernest Lee Davis Jr. of Durham, Chester A. Davis of Hurdle Mills and Gary W. Davis of Raleigh.

BROADWAY - William "Bill" Clay, of 707 Burgess Circle, died Monday (11/24/03) at his residence.
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Paradise AME Zion Church by the Rev. Eudora Womack. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Clay; a daughter, Janice Mosely of Sanford; sons, Micael Clay and wife Margaret of Fairfax, Va., and Robert V. Clay and wife JoAnn of Chester, Va.; a sister, Linda Clay of Sanford; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at noon Friday at the church and at other times at the residence.

CARTHAGE - Johnnie Robert Elliott, of 1985 U.S. 15/501, died Friday (11/21/03) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lutish Elliott, and a son, John Vonnie Elliott.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church by the Rev. Leo McKoy. Interment will follow at Stone's Chapel FWB Church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie M. Elliott, at home; sons, Robert Wayne Elliott and wife Shirlene of Carthage and Gary Martin and wife Gloria of Fuquay-Varina; daughters, Connie Elliott and Michelle Elliott, both of Aberdeen, and Patricia Martin of Winston-Salem; sisters, Mary L. Shaw of Dorchester, Mass., Garieen Smith of Vass and Odessa Elliott of Carthage, and a brother, George Elliott of Norwalk, Conn.; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home. The body will lie in state from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. today at the church.

FAYETTEVILLE - Glenn Birdsong, of 719 Southview Circle, died Thursday (11/20/03) at Bladen County Hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Body of Christ Church by the Rev. Larry Ray. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Carrie Prince of Fayetteville; a sister, Jennifer Santos and husband Shannon of Fayetteville; and grandparents, Frances Ray and Sherman Ray of Sanford.

GOLDSTON - Lattrell "Polly" Smith Freeman, 80, of 274 North Church St., died Monday (11/24/03) at her residence.
She was a resident of Chatham County and was a member of Goldston Baptist Church.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Goldston Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Bridges and the Rev. David Hicks. Burial will follow in Chatham Memorial Park.
Surviving are sons, Joe Hollis Freeman and Barry Eugene Freeman; daughters, Vanetta Johnson and Vickie Millenbaugh and husband Don; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

SILER CITY - R.D. Smith, 64, of 1885 Silk Hope Road, died Sunday (11/23/03) at Chatham Hospital.
A native of Chatham County, he was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. He was a retired electrician with Chatham Electric. He was preceded in death by his parents, Javan and Annie Bare Smith.
Funeral was held Tuesday at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lamont Hemminger and the Rev. Michael Smith. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Guthrie Smith; daughters, Michelle Smith and husband David of Snow Camp, and Debbie Ingle and Wanda Stuart of Siler City; a sister, Betty Crews of Kernersville; brothers, Jesse Earl Smith and wife Frances, June Smith and wife Elaine and Joe Smith and wife Virginia, all of Siler City; two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
