FUQUAY-VARINA - Mary Johnson Spence, 94, of Fuquay-Varina, died Friday (11/21/03) at Senter's Assisted Living, Fuquay-Varina.
She was a daughter of the late Evander and Margaret Smith Johnson and was preceded in death by her husband, Staley Spence.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina, by the Rev. Woodrow Neal and the Rev. John Gupton.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Among survivors a sister, Excelle Sloan of Lillington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Phyllis Howell.

SANFORD - Graveside service for Mary Scott Furr, of Sanford, who died Tuesday (11/18/03), was held Friday at Buffalo Cemetery.

LILLINGTON - Funeral for Dewey Lynn Parchman, 65, of Lillington, who died Tuesday (11/18/03), was held Friday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home by the Rev. Hyung Kim and Pastor James Caviness.
Burial followed in the Union United Methodist Church cemetery.
Musician was Wayne Kinton.
Pallbearers were Wayne Turnmire Jr., Steven Patterson, Ed Gregory, Gene Howze, Chris Howze and Vance Howze.

SANFORD - Tiny Mae Maynor, 78, of Sanford, died Thursday (11/20/03) in Bennettsville, S.C.
Born in Mt. Gilead, she was a daughter of the late Wiley Elisha and Amanda Gardner Chappel.
Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Stein. Burial will follow in Lee Memory Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, James Franklin Maynor; a daughter, Brenda Nadue and husband Dave of Bennettsville; sons, William Maynor and wife Jeannie of Broadway, John Maynor and wife Nancy of Lake Whales, Fla., and Larry Maynor and wife Linda and Mark Maynor and wife Diane, all of Cheraw, S.C.; sisters, Magdalene Hogan of Seagrove and Stella; and numerous grandchildren an great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

SANFORD - Geneva Cooper Parham, 88, of Naples, Fla., died Friday (11/14/03).
Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Henry Alexander and Rebecca Palmer Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Parham. She was a member of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church. She was a former resident of Sanford.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Palmer Cemetery, Gulf.

DAISY ROUSE
SANFORD - Daisy Price Rouse, 87, of 2129 Eveton Lane, died Wednesday (11/19/03) at her residence.
A native of Dillon County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Andrew Price and Nellie Hayes Price. She retired from Cornell Dubilier. She was a member of East Sanford Baptist Church for more than 50 years and served as secretary of her Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Hilda Daurity and Betty Lou Rouse.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Sanford Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Ray and the Rev. Garland Foushee. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lois Sturm of Sanford; sisters, Fannie L. Price of Dillon, S.C., and Janie Rouse of Sanford; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

CAMERON - Archie Wade Chesney, 60, of 12 Connecticut Way, died Sunday (11/16/03) at Central Carolina Hospital.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Watson Mortuary by the Rev. Gerome Williams. Burial will follow in the Tempting Church cemetery.
Surviving is a daughter, Sarah Barrow of Cameron.

LILLINGTON - Mary Kathleen Norris Collins, 56, of Lillington, died Thursday (11/20/03) at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
She was a daughter of the late Jessie and Josephine Hobson Norris. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Collins. Before her retirement, she was a technician with RayChem, now known as Tyco Industries.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at O'Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home by the Rev. Ken Dalton. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park.
Surviving are her husband, Bobby Collins; daughters, Sandy Cates of Wake Forest and Amy Ismail of Kill Devil Hills; sons, Bobby Collins Jr. and Timmy Collins, both of Lillington; brothers, Nathan Norris and Garland Norris, both of Lillington; a sister, Susie Gilbert of Arizona; and 13 grandchildren.

SILER CITY - Funeral for Staff Sergeant Melvin H. Whitaker, U.S. Army, ret., 53, of 717 Gees Grove Road, who died Friday (11/14/03), was held Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith by the Rev. Mike Crosby. Scripture reading, prayer and words of comfort were given by the Rev. Crosby. Burial followed in Sandhills Veterans Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Floralbearers and pallbearers were friends of the family.
