CINCINNATI, Ohio — Carrie White Farley, 105, of 1327 Riviera Place, died Sept. 12, 2002.
Arrangements are incomplete at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service.

William Lowe
William Edward Lowe, 88, of 1486 Salem Church Road, died Sept. 11, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a Pioneer Fireman in Boger City, and was employed with J.P. Stevens as supervisor for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Alvanell Lowe; two sons, Wayne Lowe and Eddie Lowe, both of Lincolnton; three daughters, Lanelle Elmore, McGretta Garrison, and Beth Abernethy, all of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 1982 Salem Church Rd., Lincolnton, N.C. 28092.
Warlick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Hammonds
VALE — James Hammonds, 84, of 5397 Hope Road, died Sept. 10, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Born in Kershaw County, S.C., he was employed with Shuford Mills until retirement, and served on the Usher Board at his church.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Hammonds; two sons, James Hammonds Jr. of Vale and Phillip Hammonds of Los Angles, Calif.; four daughters, Ernestine Schenck and Betty Hammonds, both of Hickory, Brenda H. Lawrence of Los Angles, Calif., and Annie Robinson of Charlotte; one brother, Robert Lee Hammonds of Spencer; three sisters, Sarah H. Neely of Washington, D.C., Lucy H. Foster of Cherryville, and Lottie H. White of Vale; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ebony & White’s Fuernal Service is in charge of arrangements.

Christine McRavion
CHARLOTTE — Christine Luvenia McRavion, 63, of 1003 McArthur Avenue, died Sept. 9, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a seamstress until retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Agnes Laverne McRavion of Johns Town, Pa.; her mother, Carrie L. McRavion of Gastonia; three brothers, John Lee McRavion of Washington, D.C., George McRavion of Philadelphia, Pa., and Lucius McRavion of Stanley; two sisters, Agnes G. Charles of Lincolnton and Mary Allen McRavion of Philadelphia, Pa.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Henry Lee
SHELBY — Henry Willie Lee, 89, of 906-B Foxcroft Circle, died Sept. 7, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Wardell Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
He was born in Athens, Ga.

Eliza Roberts
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Eliza Bell Roberts, 66, of White Oak Manor, died Sept. 7, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
She was born in Grover, N.C.

Albert Lutz
Albert Wesley Lutz, 95, of 3582 Highway 182, formerly of Maiden, died Sept. 11, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westside Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home.
Born in Burke County, he worked in the furniture industry.
Survivors include a brother, Noah Lutz of Newton; one sister, Margie Black of Lincolnton; one step-daughter, Vangie Parker of Maiden; and a number of step-grandchildren.

Peggy Boyles
VALE — Peggy Elizabeth Hull Boyles, 65, of 6009 West Highway 27, died Sept. 11, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hebron United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, she was self-employed as a secretary at K & P Trucking until retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Everette Boyles; a son, Kenneth Doyle Boyles of Vale; three daughters, Ramona Engle of Iron Station, Pamela Davis, and Kimberly Boyles, both of Vale; two brothers, Max Hull and Ted Hull, both of Vale; a sister, Barbara Goins of Sherrills Ford; seven grandchildren, Leann Engle, Brent Davis, Brandi Davis, Haley Boyles, Lydia Boyles, Holli Boyles, and Madison Boyles; and four great-grandchildren.

Knoxie Lineberger
Knoxie Schronce Lineberger, 93, of the Brian Center, formerly of 169 Pinewood Drive, died Sept. 11, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., today at McKendree United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the gospel quartet Spiritualaires and the church choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Sybil L. Eurey, Winnon L. Cashion, and Shirlee L. McLean, all of Lincolnton; one son, Jack B. Lineberger of Denver; one sister, Kathleen S. Withers of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren, Charles Eurey Jr., Edward Eurey, Beth E. Zorn, Susan E. Wiggins, James Eurey, Dr. John T. McLean, Jerry Cashion, and Sonnia Lawson; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

James Hovis Jr.
James David Hovis Jr., 58, of 2758 Prince Drive, died Sept. 12, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boger City Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Catawba County, he was employed for 38 years as an accountant for Hormel Foods.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki E. Hovis; one daughter, Shelley Livernois of Lincolnton; two sons, Sandy Hovis of Delton, Fla. and James Hovis III of Canton, Ga.; his mother, Mary Hovis of Lincolnton; two brothers, Bill Hovis and Jeff Hovis, both of Lincolnton; one sister, Pamela Baker of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren, Lainey Livernois, Haley Hovis, Benji Hovis, James David Hovis IV, and Riley Hovis.

William Gates
William “Bill” Grady Gates, 83, of 2520 Gates Road, died Sept. 12, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a U.S. Navy, WWII veteran serving on the USS Pratt, and was employed as a brick mason in the construction industry for 40 years.
Survivors include his a son, Chris Gates of Lincolnton; five daughters, Martha Keener, Nita Turner, Billie Moore, and Rita Hauss, all of Lincolnton, and Pat Thrower of Holly Ridge; one brother, Gene Gates of Lincolnton; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Vickie Holloway
VALE — Vickie Sue Cook Holloway, 38, of 2686 Peeler Road, died Sept. 13, 2002. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Born in Cleveland County, she was employed by Hickory White Manufacturing.
Survivors include her husband, Marty Lynn Holloway, her father, D.C. Cook and her mother, Edith Corene Wise Cook, both of Vale; a stepson, Aaron Holloway and a stepdaughter, Amber Holloway, both of Bassett, Va.,

Pervie Smith
NEWTON — Pervie Elizabeth Mauney Smith, 97, of 1088 Radio Station Road, formerly of Morningside Drive, died Sept. 13, 2002. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Abernethy Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial followed in Eastview Cemetery.
Born in Catawba County, she was retired from the textile industry and served as Past President of the United Methodist Women at her church.
Survivors include three sons, James E. Smith of Lincolnton, Billy R. Smith of Newton, and Sidney E. Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Ruth Hollar and Rebecca Ratchford, both of Newton, Margaret Drum of Maiden, and Brenda Greeney of Kernersville; one sister, Carrie Crow of Newton; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Julius Crumpton
CHERRYVILLE — Rev. Julius “Jim” Miles Crumpton, 68, of 203 Lee Black Road, died Sept. 13, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at Victory Life Assembly of God. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Born in Spartanburg County, S.C, he retired as a supervisor from Arlington Mill, Ti-Caro, Inc. with 30 years service, was an independent evangelist for the past 10 years, was a Marine Corps veteran who served in Korea, and was a former member of American Legion Post #243.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn Helms Crumpton, two sons, Mike Crumpton of Cherryville and David Crumpton of Shelby; two daughters, Kathy McDaniel of Cherryville and Sandra Hendrix of Iron Station; one sister Doris Crumpton of Cherryville; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3305 Southeast 16th Ave., Hickory, NC, 28601.
