Elizabeth Asbury Dellinger, 84, of 1150 Startown Road, died Sept. 13. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Marvin United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she had worked as a receptionist at Reeves Gamble Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters Rebekah Mithcum of Mt. Holly and Doris Self of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Elizabeth McFee and Lori Luckey, both of Mt Holly, and Paula Chapman of Mooresville; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Marvin United Methodist Church, 2731 Startown Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
Warlick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette Gentry
MOORESBORO — Jeanette Thompson Gentry, 68, of 437 Gannts Grove Road, died Sept. 13, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the service.
She was a Cleveland County native.
Enloe Mortuary, Shelby, is in charge of arrangements.

Carrie Farley
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Carrie Lue Thomas White Farley, 105, of 1327 Riviera Place, died Sept. 12, 2002. A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday at New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Vine Street Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Juliette, Ga., she was a retired homemaker and was a member of Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Lincolnton, N.C. before moving to Cincinnati where she joined Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church. She was Mother of the Church.
Survivors include a daughter Johnnie Ruth Webb of Cincinnati; two step-daughters, Lucy Walker and Fannie Hill, both of Cincinnati; 30 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and forty-five great-great-grandchildren.
Ebony & White’s Funeral Service, Lincolnton, and House of Glover Funeral Service, Cincinnati, are in charge of arrangements.

Reginald Perkins
PINEVILLE — Reginald H. “Reggie” Perkins, died Sept. 11, 2002. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pineville Church of the Nazarene.
Born in Newton, he grew up in Denver.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca Perkins, four sons, Richard Perkins, Nicholas, Perkins, Christopher Perkins and Matthew Perkins; two sisters Barbara Gabriel of Sherrills Ford and Brenda Douthit of Denver; and five grandchildren.
Carolina Funeral & Cremation Centers, Charlotte, was in charge of arrangements.

Florice Allred
LEXINGTON — Florice Sides Allred, 94, of Lexington Health Care and formerly of Asheboro, died Sept. 15, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Walker County, Ala., she was a retired public school teacher and a member of Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church in Asheboro where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Paul E. (Eddie) Allred, Jr. of Lexington and Rev. C. Robert (Bob) Allred of Atlanta; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, 1928 Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or to Southern Wesleyan University, PO Box 1020, Central, SC 28630.

Mills Borders Jr.
CHARLOTTE — Mills Alvin Borders Jr., 51, of 3853 Moss Croft Lane, died Sept. 15, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Washington Baptist Church in Waco. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
He was born in Greensboro.

Marie Lukat
Marie Higgins Lukat, 69, of Lincoln Nursing Center, died Sept. 16, 2002. A formal funeral service will not be held.
Born in Worcester, England, she was of the Catholic faith, and a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Mark Jackson of Lincolnton; a daughter, Stephanie Jackson of Atlanta, Ga.; and a number of grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation Carolina Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, N.C.

Robert Whitesides
Robert Elliott Whitesides, 82, of 1821 Southside Church Road, died Sept. 17, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a U.S. Army, WWII veteran, and worked in the textile business.
Survivors include a son, Elliott Whitesides of Lincolnton; a daughter, Sue Hoffman of Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Gene Whitesides of Lincolnton; one sister, Maxine Pilkington of Lincolnton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mabel Caldwell
Mabel Ruth Caldwell, 93, of 2537 Boyd Avenue, died Sept. 16, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Boger City Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Born in Gaston County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Powell W. Caldwell of El Paso, Texas, Forrest L. Caldwell Jr. of Lincolnton, and John M. Caldwell of Vale; three daughters, Jane C. Setzer of Huntersville, Thrace Schronce of Iron Station, and Celia Maddry of North Wilkesboro; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

CHERRYVILLE — Odessa Blanche McGinnis Beam, 93, of 304 East Academy Street, died Sept. 17, 2002. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:30 until 8:30 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
Born in Gaston County, she was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, and was employed with Carlton Yarn Mill until retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Gene Beam of Cherryville and Charles David Beam of Burlington, W.Va.; a daughter, Kay Beam Neal of Cherryville; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.

S.M. Jonas-Goodman
GOLDSBORO — Shannon Michael Jonas-Goodman, 24, of 107 Sasser Drive, died Sept. 14, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday at the home.
He was employed as a clerk at Spence Market, and had just obtained his GED at Wayne Community College.
Survivors include a daughter, Hanna Marie Jonas; his mother and step-father, Mitchell and Kathy Goodman-Feldman; two sisters, Ashlee Bollinger and Brittney Bollinger, both of Goldsboro; and his grandfather, Walter “Pop” Goodman of Lincolnton.

Born in Cleveland County, she was a 1999 graduate of Crest High School, and a former member of New Zion Baptist Church in Henrietta.
Survivors include one daughter, Kamyrn Victoria Harris of Shelby; her parents, Ida Mae Harris Dewberry of Shelby, and Winfred Codell Dewberry of Forest City; two brothers, Anthony Camp of the U.S. Army in Germany, and Tyrone Dewberry of Forest City; two sisters, Shanequa Watkins, and Ciera Watkins, both of Forest City; and her grandparents, Willie and Lucille Harris of Kingstown.

Helen Hester
Helen Evie Gillelan Hester, 70, of 1305 Pell Drive, died Sept. 17, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at E.F. Drum Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a member of Massapoag Baptist Church, and was employed as a winder for Burlington Industries until retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Lee Hester; three sons, James Gillelan of High Shoals, Roy Lee Hester of Vale, and Howard C. Hester of Lincolnton; three daughters, Becky Kay Hester Knight and Coleen Hester Ingle, both of Lincolnton, and Patricia Darlene Hester of Crouse; two brothers, Thomas Franklin Gillelan Jr. of Richmond, Va. and Johnny Edgar Gillelan of Newton; three sisters, Dorothy Jenkins and Pansy Hamrick, both of Lincolnton, and Nancy Peterson of Hickory; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Noel Bass
VALE — Noel Brendel Bass, 64, of 6947 Conifer Trail, died Sept. 18, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was employed with Price Custom Products until retirement.
Survivors include a son, Gary Bass of Vale; her mother, Ilease Ingle Brendel of Vale; and one grandchild, Justin Bass.
