Born in Cleveland County, he was a retired ban saw operator from Century Furniture and Lavon Furniture and a member of Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Ivey Hudson and Fred Hudson both of Hickory and six sisters, Leeila Buff of Shelby, Ruby Moses and Susie Greene both of Hickory, Mary Johnson of Lawndale, Goldie Ritchie of Conover and Ossie Swaney of Denver.
Charles Hartman
CHERRYVILLE — Charles Franklin Hartman, 89, of 235 Doc Wehunt Road, died Sept. 22, 2003. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. today at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County, he was the owner and operator of Hartman Automotive Trimshop.
Survivors include one son, Larry Hartman of Cherryville; three daughters, Ann Propst of Hickory, Elaine Carroll of Overland Park, Kan. And Peggy Reep of Roberta, Ga.; three brothers, Kenneth Hartman of Cherryville, James Hartman of Charlotte and Roy Hartman of Fallston; two sisters, Nelda Costner of Cherryville and Ruth Lewis of Lawndale; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ralph McGinnis
SOUTH CAROLINA — W. Ralph McGinnis Sr., 78, of 601 Cedar Creek Road, died Sept. 17, 2003. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Crouse, he was retired from General Telephone Company and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Rebecca Jackson McGinnis of Swansea, SC; one daughter, Rebecca Fogle; one son, W. Ralph McGinnis, Jr. of Niceville, Fla.; one sister, Frankie Hedrick of Dallas, NC; four grandchildren, Becky Bauer, Sharon Hicks, Chris Fogle and Jody Fogle and five great-grandchildren.

IRON STATION — James Elliott Johnson, 83, of 2531 Will Schronce Road, died Sept. 24, 2003. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Pearl Baptist Church. Burial followed in Iron Station Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he worked for Cochrane Furniture Company and U.S. Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Rhyne Johnson of the home; two sons, Tommy Johnson of Charlotte and Wayne Johnson of Lincolnton; one daughter, Ann Ballard of Cherryville; two brothers, J.D. Johnson of Iron Station and Alfred Johnson of Charlotte; four sisters, Pauline Caldwell, Mozelle Lineberger, Daphine McRee and Wilhemina Ledford all of Lincolnton; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Matta Troupe
Matta LaBauch Troupe, 90, of the Heath House, died Sept. 18, 2003. Funeral services were held Sunday at Garden of Memory in Tampa, Fla.
She was born in Marion, NC.
