John Hayward Cline, 78, of 1783 Reepsville Rd., died Oct. 8, 2001. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Daniels Lutheran Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, he worked as a dairy and beef farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Leonard Cline; three daughters, Susan McConnell and Doris Yoder, both of Lincolnton, and Ann Clark of Seneca, S.C.; one brother, Ray Cline of Marion; one sister, Marybelle Rhyne of Salisbury; and six grandchildren, Bryan Yoder, Sarah Yoder, Jason McConnell, Adam McConnell, Angela Bostick and Larry Clark Jr.

Nancy Claytor
Nancy Alice Claytor, 65, of 209 N. Laurel St., died Oct. 9, 2001. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
Born in Lincoln County, she was self-employed as an interior decorator.

Dover Elliott
Denver - Dover Durand Elliott, 87, died Oct. 8, 2001. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hills Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 until 8 at the funeral home.
He was a plumber for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Rebecca Hager; two daughters, Rebecca Elliott Cress and Elaine Elliott Stephens, both of Denver; one son, Dover Dwayne Elliott of Troutman; two sisters, Edna Wilhelm of Troutman and Louise Benfield of Mooresville; and four grandchildren, Jodi Lane Stephens, Chance Lewis Stephens, Christopher Dale Elliott and Justin Durand Elliott.

SHELBY - Sarah Ellen Wilson, 82, of 1329 N. Lafayette St., died Oct. 9, 2001. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns. The family will receive friends today from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
She was born in Cleveland County.

MORGANTON - Fred Morgan Mullinax, 82, died Oct. 9, 2001. A funeral service will be held today at 3:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 2 p.m. until the service.
Born in Gaston County, he was a member of the Baptist faith.

John Lee
John Cook Lee, 74, died Oct. 9, 2001. A graveside service was held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hollybrook Cemetery.
Born in Marshallville, Ga., he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Manila Bay Escort Carrier, and established Houser and Lee Insurance Agency in Fort Valley, Ga. where he worked until retirement. He was active in Christian Ministries of Lincoln County and served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Roper Lee; two sons, John “Jack” Cook Lee Jr. and Mark Roper Lee of Iron Station; two sisters, Beverly Lee Stevens of Atlantic Beach and Claudia Lee Kauloutakos of N. Arlington, Va.; one grandson, John Matthew Lee; and two step-grandsons, Tate Parker, and Dallas Parker.

Rollins of Cherryville; one brother, Adell Rollins of Cherryville; and four grandchildren, Dwayne Arion Johnson, Ciarah Johnson, Jordan Roberts, and Kennedy Roberts.

Mary Mauney
CHERRYVILLE - Mary Frances Mauney, 87, of 301 Old Post Rd., died Oct. 10, 2001. A funeral service was held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was a member. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Hickory, she was retired from the Gaston County School system and was head of the Cherryville Guidance Department, had served with the Pioneer Girl Scout Council, was a member of the N.C. Association of Realtors, and at her church served as a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include four daughters, Martha Moses of Dalton, Ga., Caroline Mauney of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Anna Catherine Spence of Virginia Beach, Va., and Harriet Cordray of Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren, David Phillips, Kay Phillips, Lura Cummings, and Rodney Cummings, all of Dalton, Ga., Carson Spence of Virginia Beach, Va., and John William Cordray III of Charleston, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Spartanburg, S.C., she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stanley and worked as a winder for Hardin Manufacturing Co., Inc.
Survivors include one brother, Nunley Cochran of Spartanburg, S.C.; and two sisters, Omie C. Blackwell of Fingerville, S.C., and Willie C. Hovis of Gastonia.
