Born in Lincoln County, he was self-employed and formerly employed with Sparta Security at Duke Power’s McGuire Plant.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Thornburg Willis; a daughter, Lynn Sigmon of Hickory; two sons, Dennis Eugene Willis of Maiden and Randy Willis of Vale; three sisters, Claire Leonhardt and Jo Goforth, both of Charlotte, and Helen Brymer of Concord; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

NEWTON - Sarah Christine McFarland Nance, 76, of 1938 Jenkins Printing Dr., died Oct. 27, 2001. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Mays Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Rowan County, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Gold Hill and was retired from Siegling America.
Survivors include one son, James Thomas Culp of Denver; three daughters, Karen Aldridge of Summerfield, Shelia Lee of Salisbury and Tracie Williams of Shelby; one sister, Martha Myrick of Knoxville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
