STATESVILLE - Jesse Lee Benfield, 53, of 126 Treeline Dr., died Oct. 4, 2001. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Troutman. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
Born in Rowan County, he was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart, and was retired from Romac Metals where he worked as a supervisor.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy L. Benfield; two daughters, Michelle B. Baxter of Troutman, and Cindy R. Benfield of Mooresville; one brother, Tay R. Benfield of Denver; one sister, Brenda D. Rhodes of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren, Dustin Baxter and Joseph Baxter, both of Troutman, David Ireland, Alex Helms, and LeAnn Ireland, all of Mooresville.
Letha Allran
Letha Reynolds Allran, 80, of 138 Hillside Drive, died Sept. 29, 2002. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Gainsville Baptist Church. Burial followed in Bethphage Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was employed by Winn-Dixie until retirement.
Survivors include one son, Jim Houser Jr. of Iron Station; two daughters, Linda Eaker of Cherryville, and Kay Smith of Vale; one stepson, Dixon Allran of Vale; six brothers, Paul Reynolds, J.P. Reynolds, Johnny Reynolds and Gene Reynolds, all of Lincolnton, Calvin Reynolds of Maiden, and Gary Reynolds of Vale; one sister, Margaret Ingle of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE – Lewis Stevenson Patterson II, 23, of 2626 Sloan Drive, died Sept. 27, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Tucker’s Grove United Methodist Church. Born in Lincoln County, he was a graduate of West Charlotte High School and attended North Carolina Central University.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Elaine and Larry Anderson of Concord; his father, John Luther Patterson of Davidson; one brother, John Patterson II of Huntersville; and grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth Wingate of Denver, and Rosie P. Sherrill of Davidson.

SHELBY – Stacey Paul Parrott, 48, of 109 Maple Street, died Sept. 28, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in Webb Memorial Lawns. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Born in Cleveland County, he worked for many years with the Shelby City School System, and the Shelby High varsity football team.

Born in Lincoln County, he was employed as a construction worker for Local 413 in Philadelphia, Pa., and was a member of Union Local 413.

Born in Gaston County, he was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran and employed as a building construction worker until retirement.
