GASTONIA — Meredith Hoyle Lansing, 79, of 2506 East Spencer Avenue, died Oct. 27, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Reeps Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was employed as an inspector in the furniture industry.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy C. Aycoth of Gastonia; four brothers, Bill Hoyle, Vergil Hoyle, Loy Hoyle, and Lloyd Hoyle, all of Vale; one sister, Ann H. Hovis of Boger City; and two grandchildren, Teresa Edwards, and Allen Darrell Aycoth.

CHERRYVILLE — Mary Jane Canipe Knight, 71, of 109 Carlton Drive, died Oct. 27, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, she was employed as a registered nurse for Lincoln County Medical Center until retirement.
Survivors include her son, Alfred “Al” Hoover Knight Jr. of Shelby; and two grandchildren, Joy Lynn Knight, and Beth Anne Knight.

Born in Cleveland County, he was the owner and operator of D&W Produce and was a member of Friendly Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Walker Brittain; his mother, Mae Lena Martin Brittain of Lawndale; two step-daughters, Haley Whisnant of Kings Mountain, and Jennifer Ruppe of Greensboro; one sister, Kathy Wells of Lawndale; and three grandchildren, Lauren, Avery, and Hunter.

A registered nurse, she worked at numerous hospitals throughout western North Carolina as floor supervisor, and private duty nurse.

Roswell of Georgia; two sisters, Lucille Taylor Gast of Rutherfordton and Patricia Taylor Doar of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, James Martin Taylor of Richlands; two grandchildren, Sarah Haire and Megan Haire; and one adopted family member, Scott Shields of Nashville, Tenn.
