Hugh Willis Cosby Jr.
Mr. Hugh Wills Cosby, Jr, 78, of Denver died June 19, 2006.
Funeral services will be June 22 at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff W. Johnsen and Rev. Tim Killian officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Mr. Cosby was born Nov. 21, 1927 in Midlothian, VA and was the son of the late Hugh Wills Cosby, Sr., and Sallie Heath Cosby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa R. Cosby. Mr. Cosby retired from Finger’s Hardware and Garden in Lincolnton. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Steve Cosby and wife Angie and one daughter, Martha Johnson and husband Bill all of Huntersville; two brothers, Mason Cosby and Winburn Cosby both of Midlothian; two sisters, Alma Pope of Bon Air, VA and Margaret Higham of Midlothian; and three grandsons, Heath Patrick Cosby, Matthew Wills Johnson and Brett Michael Cosby.
Memorials may be made to Denver United Methodist Church, PO Box 661, Denver, NC 28037. Warlick Funeral Home is serving the Cosby family.
C. Paul Hannah
Mr. C. Paul Hannah, 83, of Denver died Oct. 9, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held on October 12 at the graveside in Sharon Memorial Park. Rev. David Sexton officiated.
Visitation was held at Denver Baptist Church.
Mr. Hannah was born in McColl, SC on Feb. 13, 1923. He was the son of the late Samuel Benjamin and Oma Douglas Hannah. He was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church and was attending Denver Baptist Church. Mr. Hannah served in the Army Infantry in World War II in the South Pacific. He was a retired captain in the Charlotte Fire Department after 23 years of service. He was a member of Denver Masonic Lodge #757 and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruth Selvey Hannah of Denver, daughters Joan H. Barnhardt of Sanford, Nancy Abu-zayed of Charlotte, and Kathy H. Anderson and husband Bill of Denver; grandchildren Brad Barnhardt of Atlanta, Crystal Barnhardt of Sanford, Ben Abu-zayed of Charlotte, David Anderson of Denver; sisters Leona Alford of Raleigh, Virgie Long of Mint Hill and Vera Wallace of Peachland.
Memorials may be made to Denver Masonic Lodge #757, PO Box 481, Denver, NC 28037.
Charlotte Wesp
Charlotte Wesp, 92, a former resident of Charlotte, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 14 at her current residence in Lincolnton. Mrs. Wesp was born Jan. 20, 1914 and lived most of her life in New Jersey, She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Wesp.
Mrs. Wesp is survived by twin sons, William Harry, and wife Lynn of Phoenix, AZ., and Kenneth Robert, and wife Peggy of Sherrills Ford; four grandchildren and five great-grandsons; and a sister, Helen Heisch of Irvington, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 North Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC 28092.
Warlick Funeral Home, Inc. of Lincolnton will handle the local arrangements and interment will be in Toms River, NJ.
Sharon Lee Neidlinger
Sharon Lee Neidlinger, 55, of Denver, died Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at her residence. Born February 4, 1951 in Crawford County, PA, she was the daughter of William G. Pearson of Cochranton, PA and the late Geraldine Pearson.
Mrs. Neidlinger was a graduate of Cochranton (Pennsylvania) High School, Class of 1969, was an avid NASCAR fan and loved going to races all over the country. Sharon had a deep love for life.
Her comforting and genuine spirit made so many guests of her home feel welcome. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, gardening and decorating her Lake Norman home and walking Cowan's Ford Dam with her giant schnauzer, Ives. Her warm, kind heart touched everyone.
Funeral services were held Oct. 20 the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John Schluep officiating. The family received friends prior to the service.
Survivors are her husband, Harold A. Neidlinger; daughters, Kelly Mosbacher of Charleston, and Kassadra Mosbacher of Boise, Idaho; brother, William Todd Pearson of Meadville, PA; and grandchildren, Kelsey Mosbacher, Brandon and Jordan Burd, Nick and Trevor Cooper and David Allen Allrutz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317. Arrangements were by Raymer Funeral Home in Huntersville.
Patrick K. Nikodem
Mr. Patrick “Pat” Kevin Nikodem of Denver died October 21, 2006. Born March 20, 1952 in Rockford, IL, he was the son of Marietta Garman of Aurora, IL and the late Henry A. Nikodem.
Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ronald Nichols officiated.
Pat was a maintenance technician for the US Postal Service for 13 years, a marine electrician for the US Department of Defense for 12 years and proudly served four years in the US Navy as an Aviation Boatswains mate at Roosevelt Roads in Puerto Rico and aboard the aircraft carrier USS America. He had a special bond with children everywhere, of all ages, and volunteered with the Special Olympics and Therapy Dogs International. Pat was also a respectful and respected member of the Outer Banks Blues Brothers for 9 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; one son, Christopher Nikodem and wife Rae-Vanessa; grandson Braedon Nikodem of Laurel, MS; mother, Marietta Garman of Aurora, IL; sister, Kathleen Burson and husband Joe of Aurora, IL; brother Michael Nikodem and wife JoAnne of Naperville, IL; 18 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and nephews, many friends and his pets Jake and Phantom.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250. Warlick Funeral home was in charge of local arrangements.
Margaret Sims Barrett
Margaret Sims Barrett, 88, of Cornelius died Monday, October 30, 2006 at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home. Born February 15, 1918 in Iredell County to the late Jess Oliver and Carrie Odell Sherrill Sims, Margaret was a member of Cornelius First Baptist Church and a graduate of Cornelius High School.
Survivors include one son, Gary Barrett and wife Brenda of Mooresville, one daughter, Gail B. Blythe and husband Eddie of Denver, brothers, Robert W. Sims of Cornelius and Don Sims of Charlotte, sister, Jessie S. Lattimore of Winston Salem; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Margaret, was preceded in death, by her husband, Everett Marvin (Shorty) Barrett, son, Charles M. Barrett, brothers, Max O. Sims, George Williams (Red) Sims, and C. C. Sims, and sisters, Rachel Hager and Libby Rudisill.
Funeral service were held Nov. 2 at Cornelius First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Huneycutt officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Cornelius, PO Box 100, Cornelius, NC 28031. Raymer Funeral Home of Huntersville, is serving the family.
Noah Howard Setzer
Mr. Noah Howard Setzer, 73, of Huntersville died November 1, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte. Born February 10, 1933 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Harold F. Setzer and Lottie Rudisill Setzer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a graduate of Burtons Institute. He retired in 1983 from Lucent Technology formerly Western Electric Co. and was a member and attended the monthly retiree’s Breakfast Club. After his retirement Mr. Setzer started his own business building dog houses, bird houses, and rabbit cages which he sold to pet shops, hardware stores and individuals. The funeral was Nov. 3 at Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was a member for 46 years. Burial followed at North Lake Memorial Gardens.
Survivors are his wife, Jane Caldwell Setzer, sons, Tim and Eddie Setzer of Huntersville, brothers Darrel Setzer of Catawba County, Danny and Keith Setzer of Lincoln County, sister, Linda Setzer of Lincoln County, and grandchildren, Matt, Aaron, Brett, Amber, Diane, Jonathon.
