Karen T. Clarke
Karen Elenor Thornhill Clarke, 55, of Lambs Way, Iron Station, passed away August 7, 2007 at CMC Lincoln. She was born April 14, 1952 in Williamson, WVA, to Angeline Fletcher Widener of Lincolnton and the late Virgil Thornhill. She was a member of Joy Fellowship Assembly of God and was a data entry clerk for Charlotte City Police.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband James Clarke, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Tricia Clarke and Sara Clarke of the home; two sisters, Donna Smith of Charlotte and Annetta Sexton of Loraine, Ohio; and two brothers, Rick Thornhill of Charlotte and Keith Thornhill of Cleveland, Ohio.

Louise Hager Bailey
Louise Hager Bailey, 73, of Mooresville died August 6, 2007 at home. She was born on March 28, 1934 in Gaston County to the late William Franklin and Viola Hurley Hager. She was a seamstress, a homemaker, a mother and a loving wife.
A memorial service was held Aug. 12 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be August 23 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Joseph Charles Bailey of the home; two sons, Michael Bailey of Mooresville and Patrick Bailey of Huntersville; four brothers, Kenneth Hager of Denver, Darrell 'Jack' Hager of Iron Station, Dennis 'John' Hager of Sherrills Ford, and Carroll Hager of El Paso, TX; four sisters, Dolly Kennerly of Maiden, Frances Reel of Iron Station, Glenda Hoffman of Stanley, and Lena Smith of Decatur, AL; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Zula Williams and Rachel McMahan.

Catherine B. Green
Catherine Blake Green, 94 of Chapman Street, Lincolnton, passed away at her residence August 8, 2007. She was born in Catawba County to the late Willie and Pearlie Blake. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Green is survived by her second husband, Walter Lee Green of Butner, NC; two sons, Hammad Shakir and Jimmy Forney, both of Lincolnton; four daughters, Corine Farley of Maiden, Betty Wilson of Huntersville, Gladys Forney and Joyce Nixon of Lincolnton; 29 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Ruth H. Wheeler
Mrs. Ruth Louise Harvey Wheeler, 89, of Webbs Road in Denver died August 10, 2007 at The Palliative Care and Hospice of Catawba Valley.
Funeral services were held on Aug. 13 at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service was held on Aug. 15 at West Cemetery in Somers, Conn.
Mrs. Wheeler was born October 7, 1917 in Rockland, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Eugene and Augusta Bridges Pendleton. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William A. Harvey Sr. and Kenneth Wheeler.
Survivors include a son, William A. Harvey of Oak Hill, Fla.; two daughters, Ruth H. Free and husband Charles of Denver, and Emma H. Syme and husband Thomas of Palmdale, CA.; half-brother Herbert L. Moon of Vernon, Conn; half-sister, Elma Fletcher of Broad Brook, Conn.; nine grandchildren; several great-grand and great-great grandchildren.

Dean King
Dean King, 50, of Lineberger Road, Denver, died August 11, 2007.
According to his wishes, funeral services will be private.
He is survived by, his wife Debra King of Denver; two daughters, Susan Torres and Erica Rose, both of Denver; six grandchildren; father and mother, Ralph and Shirley King of Lexington; brother, Wayne King of Trinity; and sister Lori Hayes of Shallotte, NC.

Julie G. Lusk
Julie Dianne Golightly Lusk, 50, of Avocet Drive in Denver died July 25, 2007 at her residence.
She was born July 17, 1957 to Bonnie S. Golightly and the late Jewel Garwood Golightly in Arlington, WA. She was a member of Lake Forest Church in Huntersville.
Services were held July 28 at Lake Forest Church with her brother, Rev. Leroy Golightly, officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
Survivors include her husband Doug Lusk of the home; two sons, Damon Lusk and his wife Robin; and Derek Lusk; one daughter, Danielle Lusk; one granddaughter, Taylor Diane Lusk, all of Denver; her mother, Bonnie S. Golightly of Kennewick, WA; two brothers, Pastor Leroy Golightly of Yakima, WA., and Roger Golightly of Penn Valley, CA; and two sisters, Vennessa Miller and Patty Knight, both of Kennewick, WA.

Bobby Wayne Hussey
Bobby Wayne Hussey, 67, died on Tuesday, June 26 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born on April 2, 1940 in Seagrove, NC to Rosa and James Bertie Hussey.
A veteran of over 30 years as a college basketball coach, he served as a head coach for 20 years at Belmont Abbey, Davidson and Virginia Tech.
The 1963 graduate of Appalachian State began his head coaching career at Kings Mountain High in North Carolina where he posted a 67-6 record over four years. From there he moved on to Belmont Abbey as a head coach. He finished with a 179-111 record at the school, including 96-31 in his final four years.
Hussey became a Division I head coach at Davidson College. Between 1981-89, he led the Wildcats to 108 victories, including a Southern Conference Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1985-86.
He served as an assistant coach at Clemson for the 1989-90 season when the Tigers finished 26-10 and won the ACC regular season championship.
That team advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Hussey became an assistant coach at Virginia Tech from 1991-97. The Hokies won the NIT Championship in 1995 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 1996. In 1997-98, he became the head coach at Virginia Tech, a position he held for two seasons.
He then returned to Clemson for three seasons and completed his college coaching career in 2002-03 with the Tigers.
Hussey's passion for life showed both on and off the basketball court.
As a coach and mentor, he touched the lives of countless student-athletes and coaches over the past 30-plus years. As a husband, father and friend, he was simply the perfect role model.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra, of Denver, NC; sons, Bo and wife Christie of Charlotte, NC, and Greg of Columbia, SC; brother Jerry of Asheboro, NC; sister Carolyn Webb of Greensboro, NC; sister Betty Dunlap of Robbins, NC; sister Shirley and husband Coy Jarrell of Randleman, NC; sister-in-laws Nancy D. Wilson of Charlotte, NC, and Ruth Hussey of Seagrove, NC; granddaughter Erika; many nieces and nephews; and his long-time canine companion Holmes. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Garland, Archie and Sherman Hussey.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Raymer Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Denver United Methodist church. A viewing and burial service will follow at Needham's Grove Church in Seagrove, NC at 3:15 p.m.
