Dorothy W. LaFata
Dorothy Laverne Wallace LaFata, 81, of Denver, died June 20, 2007 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.
She was born on April 5, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Jullian and Osia Wallace.
Dorothy was a member of the East Lincoln Optimist Club; she loved to knit. She was also involved in the Smithstone Town Home Association. Dorothy enjoyed her family and friends and truly never met a stranger.
She is survived by her sons, William (Dianna) of Franklin, IN and Anthony (Marcia) of Danville, IN; daughters, Pamela Gauger (Kent) of Indianapolis, IN, Leslie Holt (Keith) of Stanley, NC, Maria Davis (Victor) of Stanley, NC and Teresa Johnson (James David) of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the East Lincoln Rescue Squad, Hwy 16, Denver, NC 28037. Raymer Funeral Home, Huntersville, is serving the family.

Tina Faye Jones
Montina 'Tina' Faye Jones, 34, of Union Church Road in Lincolnton died May 4, 2007. Funeral services were May 8 at Salem Baptist Church. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born in Cleveland County. She was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Denver. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Tina enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed life to the fullest.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Keith Jones; two sons, Dustin Melburn Jones and Dakota Joseph Jones both of the home; her parents, Gary and Jean McCorkle of Lincolnton; two brothers, Shane McCorkle and Jamie McCorkle of Lincolnton; two sisters, Cindy Tucker of Denver and Angie Tucker of Lincolnton; six nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Dustin and Dakota Jones College Fund, c/o First Charter Bank, PO Box 37937, Charlotte, NC 28237-7937.
Warlick Funeral Home served the Jones family.

Mary S. Goodson
Mary Catherine Setzer Goodson, 87, of Windward Point Lane, Denver died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Carolina Rehab Center of Burke in Connelly Springs. Born January 22, 1920 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late George Setzer and the late Lillie Catherine Little Setzer. In addition to her family, she loved her plants and flowers.
The funeral service was April 22, 2007 at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member with Rev. Eric Reece officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Goodson was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, William J. Goodson; three brothers, Craig, Willard, and George Marvin Setzer; and two sisters, Louise S. Brinkley and Ina S. Baker.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Bruce Goodson and wife Ann of Hickory and Dr. Mark Goodson and wife Ann of Mooresville; seven grandchildren, Drew, Kyle, Seth, David, Hannah, Alison and Paige Goodson; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Goodson.
Memorials may be made to Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4640 Webbs Chapel Church Road, Denver, NC 28037. Burke Mortuary in Newton served the Goodson family.

Amy O. Pizi
Mrs. Amy Eleanor Oliver Pizi, 69 of Denver died Friday April 13, 2007 at her residence. Born September 19, 1937 in Huntington W.Va she was a daughter of the late Edgar R. Oliver and Catherine Clendenning Oliver. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1955 and was a proud member of the founding class of Wheeling Jesuit University where she met her future husband, Jerry Pizi. After raising four children, Amy graduated from Marshall University School of Nursing in 1974 and spent the next 20 years as a staff nurse and nurse manager at Cabell Huntington Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. She left her mark there as both a dedicated care giver and mentor.
Amy will be remembered with warmth and pride for her love and dedication to her husband and family, and with kindness by all of those whose lives she touched. Her passion for gardening will be honored by her friends and family who will continue to share flowers up and down the east coast because of her.
After retirement she divided her time between Denver and Sarasota, Fla. where she served on community and landscaping committees. She was also a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the East Lincoln Garden Club.
Survivors are her husband of nearly 50 years, Jerri Pizi, son, David Pizi and wife Julie of Charlotte, Tony Pizi and wife Jennifer of Princeton, NJ, Michael Pizi and wife Kim of Denver, N.C., daughter Joan P. Ellis and husband Brian of Denver, N.C. and seven grandchildren, Lauren, Matthew, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Ryan and Ian and a loving extended family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Oliver and an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street Lincolnton, N.C. 28092 who helped Amy achieve her goal of passing on with dignity.
The family received friends on April 16 but funeral services will be conducted in Huntington West Va. with local arrangements by Raymer Funeral Home of Huntersville.

Billie Jo Drum
Mrs. Billie Jo Drum, 56, of Webbs Road in Denver died March 26, 2007 at her home.
Born on November 24, 1950, Mrs. Drum taught school for 33 years. Most of her years teaching were at Tuttle Middle School in Catawba County.
The family will receive friends at the Burke Funeral Home in Newton tonight (Wednesday, March 28) from 6 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on March 29 at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member and played the organ for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon; one daughter, Susan; her mother, Nellie Harkey; one sister, Gaynell Beacham; a niece, Amy Atkins and nephew, Brian Sigmon. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Harkey.
Memorials may be made to Webbs Chapel Church Building Fund, 4640 Webbs Chapel Church Road, Denver, NC 28037 or to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Claude (Mac) McMichael
Mr. Claude J. 'Mac' McMichael, 90, of Sherrills Ford, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007.
A graveside service was held Thursday, March 22 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.
Mr. McMichael was born on May 4, 1916 in Ashburn, Ga. He was the son of the late Claude J. and Annie Mae Pitts McMichael. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Christine McMichael. Mr. McMichael was the former owner of McMichael Motors and also served in the Navy during WWII.
Survivors include three sons, Claude T. McMichael of Fort Mill, SC; Kenneth McMichael of Charlotte; and Jeff McMichael of Sherrills Ford; two daughters, Claudette Keller of Spring, TX and Kay Baucom of Iron Station, NC; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to East Lincoln Christian Ministry, PO Box 421, Denver, NC 28037. Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton served the McMichael family.

Maurice A. Rogers
Mr. Maurice A. Rogers, 90, of Marlane Trail, Denver died Sunday, March 18, 2007 in Lakeland, Florida. A graveside service was held March 23 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
Mr. Rogers was born April 8, 1916. He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle (Cindy) Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a member of Beth Haven Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Rogers and wife Karen of Reedville, Va., and Donald R. Rogers and wife Margaret of Plant City, Fl.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church UMYF, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, NC 28037. Warlick Funeral Home served the family.
