Ruth Ann Gracey
Ruth Ann Gracey, 51, was killed in a car accident on Dec. 24, 2008 in Hickory. She was born in Kingman, KS and grew up in Wichita but spent the last eight years in Denver.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Donald, Margret, and Forrest Gracey.
Survivors include her siblings Paula Morrow, Yvette Enslinger, Cindy Glover and Chris Gracey.

Roland Hatten Hodges Jr.
Mr. Roland Hatten Hodges, Jr. died unexpectedly on Jan. 1, 2009. He was born Jan. 14, 1939 in Raleigh, and had a wonderful life surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancye; sister Mary Jeanette and husband Hoyt; daughter Lora Lynn; son Clark; six grandchildren (David, William Christian, Rachel, Ethan and new baby Hatten), as well as two 'children' he wishes were his own: Heather and Jim.
After serving three years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he graduated from Barton College where he served as the college's first alumni director. He was a stockbroker with several firms from 1966 - 1973, before starting his own company in 1981: Portfolio Capital Management.
His greatest legacy is his love and devotion to his church and community, but most of all his family.
Services were held at Denver United Methodist Church on Sunday, Jan. 4 with burial in the church cemetery.

Joseph Bonacci
Joseph F. 'Joe The' Bonacci, 70 of Stanley, formerly of Waterloo, NY, died Tuesday (December 16, 2008) at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.
Funeral services were held December 22 at a funeral home in Waterloo followed by a service at St. Mary's Church by Rev. James Fennessy. Burial followed in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
A memorial service for Joe's North Carolina family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on January 3, 2009 at Lucia Baptist Church in Stanley.
Born in Waterloo on August 7, 2938, he was the son of the late Serafino and Christine Crispo Bonacci.
Joe is survived by two daughters, Kim (John) Robinson of Stanley and Michelle (Alan) Baker of Senaca Falls, NY; one son, Scott (Lori) Bonacci of Waterloo; six grandchildren one sister; one brother, and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions in memory of Joe may be made to the charity of one's choice.
William H. Bush
William Howard Bush, 79, of Denver, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at his home.
He was born in Barbour County, AL to the late George Washington and Bessie Hodges Bush on August 12, 1929. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who loved his country and served in the US Army during the Korea era. He was V.P. of Owens-Minor, Inc. in Richmond, VA. He was a federally licensed boat captain and loved to golf and fish.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Siniard Bush; daughters, Cynthia Killian and husband James of Crumpler, NC, Gaye Dunsmore of Cornelius, NC, and Jennifer Boone and husband Robert of Vaughn, NC; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at December 20, 2008 at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery with Rev. Gary Steber officiating.

Billy Lewis May
Billy Lewis May, 57, of Mack Ballard Road, Maiden, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 22 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. May was born Dec. 21, 1950 in Newton County, MS to the late Herman Lewis and Ruby Elizabeth Hollingsworth May. He worked as an electrician and was the owner of Billy May Electric.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Sanford, Shirley Watkins and Lisa Bryant all of Forrest, MS., and long-time friends, Patsy Sherrill and Sparky of the home.

Donna 'Pod' Pope
Mrs. Donna Joyce Pope, 'Pod' of Denver, died November 16, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born October 23, 1949 in Winston-Salem, the daughter of Graham O. Joyce of Rural Hall and the late Tena Joyce.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Kenny Pope; a son, Nolan Duggins; a daughter Lindy (Scott) Clawson; two step-daughters, Camyll and Addie Pope; four grandchildren, Lily and Jakob Clawson and Madison and Elias Peters; two sisters, Christine (Don) Jones and Cindy (David) Porter; two brothers, Jimmy (Janice) Joyce and Drake (Sue) Joyce, one niece and three nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Derrick S. Dellinger officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park.

Sara P. Lorello
Mrs. Sara P. Lorello, 87, of Denver, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.
Her funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 12 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Reece officiating.
Mrs. Lorello was born Dec. 21, 1920 in Gaston County to the late Luther B. Penley Sr. and Virginia Davis Penley. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin L. Free; her second husband, Vincent F. Lorello; two brothers, Luther B. Penley, Jr. and Kelly A. Penley.
Mrs. Lorello retired as manager of Cross Country Campground.
Survivors include two sons, Charles R. Free of Denver and David L. Free of Seaford, VA; two daughters, Karen F. Cook of Mooresville and Susan F. Holbrooks of Denver; one sister, Pearl P. Hayes of Gastonia; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Margaret O. Gribbins
Mrs. Margaret Olive Robinson Gribbins, 67 of 3262 Pine Tree Street in Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.
Her funeral service was scheduled for 11a.m. today (Wednesday, November 19, 2008) at Long Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Gibson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Gribbins was born March 2, 1941 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Ernest Calvin 'E.C.' and Martha Ray Spivey Robinson. She worked in manufacturing.
She is survived by her husband, William R. Gribbins of the home; three sons, William Eric Gribbins and Jason Alexander Gribbins of Lincolnton, and Christopher Scott Gribbins of Denver; and five grandchildren.

Patsy C. Miller
Patsy Carol Miller, 69, of Denver, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. She was born in Gaston County on June 10, 1944 to the late Fred and Martha Adams. Carol was retired from McGuire Nuclear Station where she worked for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin D. Miller, her son Doug Miller and his wife, Kim and two grandchildren, Courtney and Matthew Miller.
A memorial service will be held at Salem United Methodist Church 378 N. Pilot Knob Rd. Thursday, January 30 at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service in the Christian Life Center.
