CHERRYVILLE — Carroll Osborne Wylie, 71, of 1019 St. Mark’s Church Road, died Jan. 15, 2004. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Anthony Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight at Carpenters Funeral Home.
He was born in Cherryville.
Survivors include two sons, Vick Wylie and Darvin Wylie both of Cherryville; three daughters, Katherine Helms of Lincolnton, Nita Williams of Waco and Macie Davis of Shelby; five brothers, Forest Wylie of Cherryville, Junior Wylie of High Shoals, Grady Wylie of Bessemer City, Hunter Wylie of Gastonia and Charles Wylie of Waco; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Dale Johnson
CHERRYVILLE — Dale Huffstetler Johnson, of 251 Karen Court, died Jan. 14, 2004. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. today at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a senior vice president with Wachovia Bank, a member of Webbs Chapel Baptist Church, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life and United Way.
Survivors include her mother, Sue Chapman Huffstetler; two brothers, Gary Huffstetler and Keith Huffstetler both of Cherryville and two sisters, Nancy Allen of Cherryville and Janet Goins of Dalton, Ga.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 301 E. First St., Cherryville, NC 28021 or Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar St., Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Walter Bingham
POLKVILLE — Walter Jackson Bingham, 69, of 4603 Polkville Road, died Jan. 14, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Plains View Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 8 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County, he was the retired owner and operator of Bingham’s Plumbing and Hardware.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Josephine Neal Bingham of the home; one son, Dr. Dennis Bingham of Fallston; two daughters, Ritta Greene of Polkville and Darlene King of Fallston; three brothers, Joe Bingham and Rev. Henry Bingham Jr. both of Fallston and Harvey Bingham of Cherryville; four sisters, Addie Wright, Ann Ramsaur, Shirlene Lewis and Ellene Lineberger all of Fallston; four grandsons, Shannon Bingham, Michael Terry, Delvin King and Doyle King; three granddaughters, Dina Carson, April Greene and Miranda Bingham and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.

Gladys Murphy
CROUSE — Gladys Dellinger Murphy, 83, of 3601 Gaston Webbs Chapel Road, died Jan. 14, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Webbs Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.
She was born in Gaston County.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Murphy of Crouse; one sister, Frances Sain of Crouse; one brother, Forest Dellinger of Cherryville; four grandchildren, Michael Murphy, Jeff Murphy, Sissy Haynes and Gladys Setzer and five great-grandchildren.

Clarence Bradford
SOUTH CAROLINA — Clarence Edwin “CE” Bradford Sr., 83, of Florence, SC, died Jan. 14, 2004. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at Southside Baptist Church in Florence, where he was a member. Interment followed in the Florence National Cemetery with Military Honors.
He was retired from La-Z-Boy, and was employed by Piggly Wiggly. He was a member of the VFW Effingham Post and was a WWII U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and served with the SC National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Clarissa Bell Bradford of the home; one son, C. Edwin Bradford Jr. of Hilton Head, SC; two daughters, Becky Miller and Pam Gaines both of Florence, SC; one brother, GT Bradford of Lincolnton; five sisters, Rosa Blanton of Spartanburg, SC, Elsie Politano of Augusta, Ga., Mafelda Arnett, Bettie Luking and Bobbie Wilkinson all of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Greg Miller, Beth Robinson, Thomas Maricano, Sarah Marciano and John Bradford and one great-grandson.

Leonard Thomas
GEORGIA — Leonard Thomas, 74, of 2801 Felton Drive, formerly of Rutherford County, died Jan. 13, 2004. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at ST Enloe Memorial Chapel at Enloe Mortuary in Shelby.

Ruby Stinchcomb
FALLSTON — Ruby Elaine Houser Stinchcomb, 72, of 349 Wilson Drive, died Jan. 15, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a homemaker and formerly employed by Hudson Hosiery and Shelby Knitting.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Stinchcomb of he home; two sons, Richard Stinchcomb of Casar and Gene Stinchcomb of Fallston; two daughters, Patricia Hamrick of Cliffside and Jane Carpenter of Shelby; one brother, Paul Houser of Casar; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Susan Lankford
CHERRYVILLE — Susan Patricia Thrift Lankford, 55, of 223 Oliver St., died Jan. 15, 2004. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a private duty C.N.A.
Survivors include her mother, Annie Eberhardt Thrift of Cherryville; one daughter, Shannon Aguilar of Cherryville; one son, Bryant Lankford of Cherryville; two grandsons, Gariel Lankford and Jared Lankford and two brothers, Richard Thrift of Cherryville and Roger Thrift of Crouse.

Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from the furniture industry.
Survivors include three daughters, Ida Robinson, Kathleen Carpenter both of Lincolnton and Ellen Smith of New Braunfels, Texas; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

IRON STATION — Mozelle L. Devine Christopher, 92, of Lincoln Nursing Center, formerly of Christopher Road, died Jan. 16, 2004. A graveside service was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Amity Baptist Church.
Born in Gaston County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Roy Christopher of Lincolnton; one daughter, Louise Houser of Lincolnton; one brother, Lewis Devine of Iron Station; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Born in Gaston County, he was retired from BellSouth and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include one son, John Crocker of Crouse; two daughters, Cindy Jenkins and Mary Crocker all of Crouse; one sister, Margie Linberger of Crouse and four grandsons, Justin Jenkins, Ethan Crocker, Landon Culp and Dakota Culp.

Iva Minton
Iva Caudill Minton, 93, of the Brian Center, formerly of Country Club Road, died Jan. 17, 2004. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McKendree United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Born in Wilkes County, she was formerly employed by Lincoln Drugs.
Survivors include one son, Phillip Minton of Burlington; one daughter, Lydia Minton of Lincolnton and two grandchildren, Mansfield Minton and Tyra Minton.

Phyllis Mincey Mace, 64, of 201 Redwood Lane, died Jan. 16, 2004. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Webbs Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was retired from the textile industry.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Mace Jr. and Tim Mace both of Lincolnton and Mike Mace of Vale; three daughters, Rhonda Brown, Barbara Heldton and Leslie Patterson all of Lincolnton; her mother, Mary Lee Kiser Williams of Lincolnton; three brothers, Larry Mincey and Eddie Mincey both of Lincolnton and Junior Mincey of Greenville, SC; four sisters, Pat Carpenter, Joy Smith and Libby Ellis all of Lincolnton and Lois Hamilton of Greenville, SC; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

CHERRYVILLE — Dennis Ned Cody, 64, of 702 Watts St., died Jan. 16, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenters Funeral Home. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Cherryville, he was a retired dock worker with Carolina Freight Carriers and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Annette Cody of Cherryville and special cousins, Debbie Peeler, Shelby Fisher and Terry Fisher.
