Born in Catawba County, he was a member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army, and worked in furniture manufacturing.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn C. Wise; one daughter, Terry W. Cooke of Maiden; one step-son, Eric Sipe of Maiden; one step-daughter, Vickie Helms of Newton; five brothers, David Wise and James Wise, both of Maiden, Paul Wise and Tommy Wise, both of Newton, and Charles Wise of Franklin; three sisters, Diane W. Williams of Maiden, Betty W. Painter and Jessie W. Cooke, both of Newton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Born in Cleveland County, she worked for Health Care Services until retirement.
Survivors include one son, Farris Jr. Martin of Vale; two daughters, Sandra Taylor and Lavinia Ann Martin, both of Vale; two brothers, Ralph Newton, and Edgar Jr. Newton, both of Valdese; six sisters, Ruby Swafford of Morganton, Ethel Moses, Sue Walker and Mary Buff, all of Casar, Sara Crawley of Vale, and Marie Spade of Cherryville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Robert Davis
VALE - Robert Hugh Davis, 83, of 1025 Rockdale Road, died Feb. 11, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Norman’s Grove Baptist Church where he was a member. Born in Lincoln County, he worked for Drexel Furniture in Morganton and as a farmer until retirement. He was also a charter member of his church’s Baptist Mens’ Brotherhood.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae King Davis; one son, Ronald “Ronnie” Hugh Davis of Vale; one daughter, Brenda Kay Munday of Vale; one sister, Madge Randall of Hickory; three grandchildren, Angelic Weaver, Jonathan Munday, and James Davis; and two great-grandchildren.

TAYLORSVILLE - Marsha Jo Tucker Chapman, 64, of 115 6th St. NW, died Feb. 12, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at East Taylorsville Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
Born in Lincoln County, she was the crossing guard for Taylorsville Elementary School, was employed with Environmental Services at her church, and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Taylorsville Fire Department.
Survivors include one son, Mickey Eugene Chapman of Taylorsville; two brothers, Bill Tucker, and Belton Tucker, both of Lincolnton; two sisters, Dorothy Rhyne of Lincolnton, and Oneda Overcash of Denver; and one grandchild, Jeffrey Chapman.

Born in Cleveland County, he was a truck driver for MDI until retirement, and formerly served as a deacon at his church where he taught the Adult Men’s Sunday School class.
