Born in Burke County, he was a self-employed farmer and veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Heavener Hosiery Mill.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece Downs Wright; a son, Jeffrey Wright of Connelly Springs; two daughters, Linda Rhoney of Connelly Springs and Janice O’Toole of Glenmoore, Pa.; a sister, Bonnie W. Parker of Connelly Springs; and five grandchildren, Kellie O’Toole, Karly O’Toole, Dylan Rhoney, Jordan Wright, and Caleb Wright.

Hazel Irene Rose Woodward, 73, of 2653 Brookwood Road, died Feb. 6, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 2:45 before the service at the church.
Born in Virginia, she was a private duty caretaker.

SHELBY — Krisiona Nicole Deana Parker, infant daughter of Nicholas Parker and Hope Ross of 118-8 Lakeview Drive, died Feb. 6, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Cherryville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Jonathon Parker and Devon Parker.

Billy Barnett
GASTONIA — Billy Burton Barnett, died Feb. 8, 2003. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Gastonia where he was a member. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
Born in Cherokee County, he was from Gaston Electrical Contractors after 45 years of service and was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He was a member of the men’s fellowship class at his church and a member of Holland Memorial Lodge #668 AF and AM.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie J. Barnett; a daughter, Becky Dellinger of Lincolnton; a sister, JoAn Greene of Charleston, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Renee Taylor and Chad Taylor.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired machinist for Herman Reeves of Lowell for 18 years and Coleman Cocker of Ranlo for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII and was a member of the Gastonia Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Miller Dellinger; a son, John William Dellinger of Cherryville; a daughter, Janet D. Eaker of Cherryville; a sister, Faye Jones of Forest City; and two grandchildren, Sandy Dellinger and Mary Ellen Eaker.

Sedulia Brooks Matthews, 100, of 515 S. Generals Blvd., died Feb. 7, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member. Born in Cleveland County, she was a retired nursing assistant at Crowell Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Church Matthews; two daughters, Naomi Brooks of Kannapolis and Willie B. Ray of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Dwight Hord
LAWNDALE — Dr. Dwight Beam Hord, 79, of 118 Hord Road, died Feb. 10, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Lawndale Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a dentist for 48 years, taught the Can-Do Sunday School class and served as a deacon at his church, was a member and past president of Lawndale Lions Club and was Lion of the Year in 1979. He was a member and past president of the N.C. Dental Association, was a former member of the board of directors for Upper Cleveland Rescue. Chosen Lawndale Citizen of the Year, he was a member of Lawndale Masonic Lodge #486 for 50 years and Lawndale American Legion Post #302, and served as a deck officer aboard the U.S.S. Lumen during WWII.
Survivors include a son, Ed Hord of Charlotte; three daughters, Ellen Wease of Lawndale, Anne Walker of Charlotte, and Jean Roberts of Boone; eight grandchildren, Tyler Hord, Chuck Wease, Ricky Wease, Kimberly Wease, Max Borders, Abby Walker, Ivy Mauney and Davis Roberts; and three great-grandchildren.
