Mabel Hardin
NEWTON - Mabel Wyatt Hardin, 71, of 811 Oak Street, died Feb. 11, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church where she was a member. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Cemetery in Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Alleghany County, she was a bookkeeper at Bassett Upholstery for 22 years. She previously served as school secretary at North Wilkesboro Elementary and Newton Elementary. A member of the Two and One Bridge Club and the Couples Bridge Club, she was a member of the Parker Sunday School Class at her church.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Hardin; a daughter, Glenda Miller of High Point; two sons, Fred Hardin of Hickory and David Hardin of Conover; a sister, Madge W. Irwin of Bethesda, Md.; a step-sister, Dorothy Griffin of Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

HICKORY - Elizabeth Finger Chronister, 86, of Hickory Lutheran Home West, died Feb. 11, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Burke County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, David L. Chronister of Lincolnton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Lillie Lowman
MAIDEN - Lillie Mabel Lowman, 95, of 513 N. Main. Ave., died Feb. 12, 2003. A funeral service was held at 7 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church where she was a member. A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Warlick Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Connelly Springs.
Born in Burke County, she was retired from the textile industry.

Beatrice Hall Orgeron Keener, 76, died Feb. 8, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Philadelphia Lutheran Church.
Born in Gaston County, she was a retired cook for Christian Ministry in Lincoln County.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Jasper P. Keener; three sons, Alex Randall Orgeron Sr., Ronald Joseph Orgeron, and David P. Keener, all of Lincolnton; three daughters, Judy Orgeron Smith, Cynthia Alene Gilbert, and Robin H. Morrison, all of Lincolnton; two brothers, Benjamin C. Hall of Sanford and Clyde Hall of Stanley; two sisters, Rose Hall of Dallas and Judy Carol Queen of Stanley; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

IRON STATION - John Dancoff, 66, of 5933 Nora Drive, died Feb. 12, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He was a retired food broker.

CATAWBA - Amy Lynn Payne, 29, of 1484 Brown’s Chapel Road, died Feb. 12, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Maiden. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Catawba County, she was a security officer with Griffith Security.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony Payne; two sons, Cristopher Altman and Travis Stoll, both of Catawba; her parents, Fredrick and Elizabeth L. McManus; and a sister, Stacy Parker of Newton.
Curtis Bracey
Curtis Lee Bracey, 54, of 407A Massapoag Road, died Feb. 13, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Ebony & White’s Funeral Service. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the chapel.
Born in Gaston County, he served in the U.S. Marines and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Purple Heart.
Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Yvonne Robinson of Gastonia; five sisters, Mildred B. Wilson and Bettie B. Woods, both of Lincolnton, Michelle Hill, Edna Hill and Ruth Hill, all of Henrietta; two brothers, Bill Bracey of Charlotte and Larry Hill of Henrietta; and two grandsons.
Willie Hunter
KANNAPOLIS - Willie George Hunter, 75, of 2990 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., died Feb. 11, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church where he was a member. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a member of King Uzzich Masonic Lodge of Landis, the Teamsters Union and the NAACP.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Gray and Pamela Hunter, both of the home, Beverly Grier of China Grove, and Patricia Kinlow of Kannapolis; four sons, Jerry Moody and Anthony S. Hunter, both of Kannapolis, William G. Hunter of Concord, and Antonio D. Hunter of Garland, Texas; a sister, Carrie Hunter of Kannapolis; a brother, Curtis Hunter of Charlotte; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
