DENVER - Nelson Ellsworth Marks, 75, died Feb. 22, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Raymer Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service.
Born in Marshal County, he was retired as a mechanical engineer with ILCO-UNICAN in Rocky Mount and was a U.S. Army Air Corps WWII veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Smith Marks; two sons, Curtis Ellsworth Marks of Raleigh and Jimmy Eldon Marks of Dunn; two daughters, Ganell Marks Waterman of Raleigh and Ann Elizabeth Herold of Huntersville; two brothers; five sisters; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Edith Spangler
SHELBY - Edith Beam Spangler, 92, of Cleveland Pine Nursing Center, formerly of Fallston Road, died Feb. 25, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Double Shoals Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 tonight at Stamey Funeral Home.
Born in Cleveland County, she was retired from Cleveland Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Eugene B. Spangler of Shelby; three daughters, Eloise Wright, Shirley Greene and Sara Greene, all of Shelby; 12 grandchildren, Sheila Whisnant, Jeff Wright, Sharon Pottern, Marc Spangler, Kelly Sebastian, Phillis White, David Greene, Thomas Greene, Cindy Cabaniss, Susan Turner, Scott Greene, and Steven Greene; and 16 great-grandchildren..

WILKESBORO - Charles Spencer Broyhill, 65, of Ridgecrest St., died Feb. 24, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greater Vision Baptist Church where he was a member. Born in Wilkes County, he was a truck driver and served in the U.S. Army.

Lois Sisk
Lois Smith Sisk, 86, of 325 N. Academy St., died Feb. 24, 2003. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanley.
Born in Gaston County, she was employed by Cochrane Furniture.
Survivors include her husband, Marshall L. Sisk Sr.; two sons, Marshall L. Sisk Jr. of Hickory and James Robert Sisk of Lincolnton; a stepson, Larry Chapman of Maiden; a brother, Henry Smith of Mt. Holly; two sisters, Martha Smith of Charlotte and Lillian Watts of Bessemer City; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. - Ruth Eggers, 66, died Feb. 21, 2003. A funeral service was held at noon Tuesday. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South.
She was born in Lincoln County.

Eggers; two sons, Gary Eggers of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Ron Eggers of Delray Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Lorrie Tenhoeve of Old Bridge, N.J.; four grandchildren; a sister, Pansy White of Denver; and two brothers, Loy Keener Jr. of Lincolnton and James Keener of Conyers, Ga.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired Rhynes Mill machine operator and served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin Jarrett of Millerton, N.Y., James Jarrett and Eddie Jarrett, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Alton Jarrett of Miami, Fla.; two daughters, Annette Adams of Gastonia and Susan Huddleston of Lincolnton; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Thomas Fredrick Huff, 61, of 3463 Windy Hill Road, died Feb. 25, 2003. A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Lincolnton Church of God where he was a member.
Born in Newberry, S.C., he was a retired mechanic.

Born in Alamance County, he was owner and manager of Quality Property Management and was active in Volunteer Families for Children.
