Precious “Phyllis” Grigg Parlier, 63, of 275 Southside Church Road, died Feb. 25, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Southside Baptist Church.
Born in Cherryville, she worked for Duke Power.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Parlier II of Lincolnton and Charles “Chuck” Lee Nancy of Statesville; a sister, Gail Houk of Lincolnton; and one grandson, Matthew Corey Parlier.

Walter Blalock
DENVER — Walter Calvin Blalock, 62, of 4106 Bellhaven Lane, died Feb. 27, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was the owner of Blalock Upholstery.
Survivors include his wife, N. Gaye Blalock; four sons, Gralyn A. Blalock of Conover, Darin L. Blalock of Denver, W. Kyle Blalock of Newton, and Brandon L. Blalock of Catawba; a daughter, Lori B. Banks of Farmville; two brothers, Gerald Blalock of Lenoir and Johnny Blalock of Denver; two sisters, Jan B. Elmore of Lincolnton and Brenda B. Beal of Denver; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church Building Fund, 5045 East Maiden Road, Maiden, N.C. 28650 or Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658.

Elizabeth Cockram
Elizabeth Lura Broom Cockram, 77, of 506 N. Flint St., died Feb. 26, 2003. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:15 p.m. before the service at E.F. Drum Funeral Home.
Born in Union County, she was a knitter at Delta Apparel and a member of Gainsville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Robinson and Benny Robinson, both of Lincolnton; four brothers, Curtis Broom Jr., Doyle Broom, Larry Broom, all of Mt. Holly, and Lonnie Broom of Belmont; two sisters, Mildred Terry of Mt. Holly and Peggy Bingham of Lowell; and three grandchildren.

Kenneth Link
Kenneth Kee Link, 80, of 169 Antique Road, died Feb. 28, 2003. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a retired shipping clerk with Coble Dairy and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Link; two sons, Kenneth H. Link and Scott Link, both of Lincolnton; two daughters, Vickie Sides and Wanda Dellinger, both of Lincolnton; a brother, Clifton Link of Charlotte; a sister, Dean Huss of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lisa Suzette King, 69, of 1410 Greenwood Road, died Feb. 27, 2003. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie F. King; two daughters, Debbie Cunningham of Eddyville, Ky. and Donna Dellinger of Lincolnton; a brother, Bill Christopher of Lincolnton; five sisters, Carol Branning, Frances Pugh, and Juanita Caldwell, all of Lincolnton, Martha McNeil of New London, and Beaulah Carringer of Maiden; four grandchildren, Sonia Rudolph, Jimmy Cunningham, Jamie Dellinger, and Travis Dellinger; and one great-grandchild.

Douglas Cherry
CHARLOTTE — Douglas Gene Cherry, 48, of 6035 Pine Burr Road, died Jan. 28, 2004. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Roberts Tabernacle CME Church. Burial followed at Webb Memorial Lawns.

Carl Edwards
BOILING SPRINGS — Carl Eddie Edwards, 55, of 412 Hillside St., died Jan. 27, 2004. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Green Bethel Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

John Cohen
John Gilbert Cohen, 74, of 7230 Ed Willis Road, died Jan. 29, 2004. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at EF Drum Funeral Home. Burial followed in Massapoag Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a member of Massapoag Baptist Church and was retired from Rhyne Mills as a card operator.
Survivors include his wife, Rosey Helms Cohen of the home; one son, Bradley Cohen of Goldsboro; five daughters, Amanda Cohen of Winston-Salem, Angel Distasio, Regina Cohen and Karen Schronce all of Vale and Teresa Laws of Lincolnton; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two step-grandchildren.

Connie Neill
Constant L. “Connie” Neill, 89, of 4115 Lakeshore Road South, died Jan. 30, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born in Kearny, NJ, he was a U.S. Army Captain and a retired executive with Farmbest Dairies.
Survivors include one son, Harold Neill of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Spivey of Mooresville; three grandsons, Michael Spivey, Stephen Spivey and Brian Neill and one great-granddaughter.

Geraldine Baza
Geraldine Marie Baza, 81, of 2333 W. Hwy. 27, died Jan. 30, 2004. No services are planned at this time.
Born in Gaston County, she worked in the textile industry.
Survivors include her husband, Martin Baza of the home.

CASAR — Hattie Beatrice Poole Cooke, 92, of 237 Turner Road, died Jan. 31, 2004. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Knob Creek United Methodist Church.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a homemaker and retired from textiles.
Survivors include five sons, Delbert Cooke and Jack Cooke both of Shelby, Ralph Cooke of Charlotte, Hal Cooke of Forest City and Flay Cooke of Fallston; four daughters, Stalene Bridges of Kings Mountain, Joyce Drum of Cherryville; Judy Ledford of Cherryville and Shirley Cooke of Shelby; 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Born in Cherryville, she was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Darris Ramsey of the home; one daughter, Rita Bowman of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren, Scott Bowman, Cinday Bowman, Rod Bowman, Susan Bowman, Dana Davis and Todd Davis and eight great-grandchildren.

SHELBY — Sam Johnson McDonald, 74, of 4029 Fallston Road, died Jan. 31, 2004. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Bladen County, he was retired from textiles, a member of the Fallston Lions Club and a former member of the Lincolnton Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Cedar Gibson McDonald; two sons, Ernest McDonald of Lawndale and Doug McDonald of Shelby; four daughters, Carol McSwain and Grace Costner both of Kings Mountain; eight grandchildren, Adam McSwain, Stacey Costner, Clay Costner, Kyle Richards, Claire Richards, Wayne McDonald and Terrany Wright; three brothers, Jim McDonald of Okla., Brad McDonald of Fayetteville and Bud McDonald of Wintersville and three sisters, Nell Carson of Williamsburg, Va., Elsie Brisson of Wilmington and Louise Cain of Fayetteville.

CANADA — Theresa Mulrooney, 80, of Newfoundland, Canada, died Jan. 30, 2004. Funeral services will be at a later date in Newfoundland, Canada.
Survivors include two daughters, Marian M. Clark of Lincolnton and Denise Mulrooney; two sons, Michael Mulrooney and Joseph Mulrooney of Newfoundland, Canada; eight grandchildren, Jason Clark, Aaron Clark, Bryan Clark, Caitlin Clark, Nathan Clark, Ryan Mulrooney, Renee Mulrooney and Brenda Mulrooney.

CHERRYVILLE — Mildred Bost Whitaker, 87, of 206 E. First St., died Feb. 1, 2004. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, Ronald Whitaker, Ricky Whitaker, Rocky Whitaker and Reggy Whitaker all of Cherryville and Randy Whitaker of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Shirley Fisher of Cherryville; one sister, Janice Cook of Gastonia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
