Burley Hamilton
VALE — Burley Hamilton, 83, of 3720 Hog Hill Road, died March 13, 2002. A memorial service will be held tonight at 8 at E.F. Drum Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date in Lewis Memorial Cemetery in Asheville. The family will receive friends tonight at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Born in Pickens County, S.C., he served in the U.S. Army and was employed as a maintenance worker. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
Frank Carter
Frank Hill Carter, 83, of 473 Miners Road, died March 14, 2002. A funeral service will held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Born in Hurt, Va., he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and the Normandy Invasion. He was the former plant manager with Cochrane Furniture Company until retirement.
Survivors include one son, James Carter of Sherrills Ford; one daughter, Frances Armstrong of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Cindy Lou Armstrong, Shasta Carter and Janice Sweatt; two step-grandchildren, Tiffany Overcash, and Shelly McKeever; five great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Keener
Thomas Forney Keener, 73, of 5069 East N.C. 150, died March 14, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 Saturday at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, he was an accountant and later retired from Town Square Ford. He was a member of the Lincoln Country Club and served as deacon at his church.
Survivors include one daughter, Judi K. James of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sisters, Ann M. Keener of Denver and Mae K. Barnes of Combes, Texas; and one brother, C. Frank Keener of West Palm Beach, Fla.

Betty Rudisill Dalton, 69, of 302 North Houser Street, died March 16, 2002. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. Burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Gaston County, she was a shipping clerk for Hewlett Manufacturing in Cherryville until retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Gary Dalton of Cherryville; five grandchildren, Brian Dalton, Chad Dalton, Brad Dalton, Steven Dalton, and Stephanie Dalton; and one great-grandchild.

Pansy Self
CHERRYVILLE — Pansy Hartman Self, 76, of 901 Requa Road, died March 15, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at Second Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Cherryville, she worked for Dora Yarn Mill for 36 years until retirement.
Survivors include four daughters, Cheri Carpenter, Tammy Kiser, and Cindy Self, all of Cherryville, and Debbie Pearson of Lincolnton; one brother, Hillard E. Hartman of Clover, S.C.; one sister, Betty Smith of Cherryville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Born in Catawba County, she worked in the textile industry until retirement.
Survivors include one son, Steve Norwood of Conover; four grandchildren, Tracy Norwood, Angela Buchanan, Jason Norwood, and Jennifer Norwood; and one great-grandchild.

Born in Iredell County, she was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and worked as a Burger King manager.
Survivors include her husband, Wendell Lewis “Pete” Hallman; her father, Ray Oates of Waco; one son, Michael Hallman of Cherryville; three daughters, Tammy Mayhew of Cherryville, Wendy H. Blanton of Polkville, and Donna Hallman of Supply; two brothers, Bob Oates of Waco and Rick Oates of Asheville; two sisters, Jean Paige of Georgetown, S.C., and Louise Lovelace of Shelby; and 11 grandchildren.

CHERRYVILLE — David Van Price, 79, of West Academy St., formerly of Waco, and Garden, S.C., died March 14, 2002. A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Rutherford County, he was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, a member of Waco Baptist Church and a manager with A&P Stores until retirement.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Price of Shelby; two sisters, Lena Blanton of Greenville, S.C., and Nell Metcalf of Shelby; and three grandchildren, Travis Price, Carmen Diehl, and Nicholas Price.

CHERRYVILLE — Harrill Franklin Newton, 87, died March 13, 2002. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home. Burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Cleveland County, he served was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, was a member of First Baptist Church and worked in the maintenance department for Gaston County Schools until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Crain Newton; and one sister, Ora N. Moore of Cherryville.

IRON STATION — Amber Lashea Price, infant daughter of Debbie Inman and Chad Price, was born and died March 16, 2002.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Travis Inman of Iron Station.

Born in Catawba County, she was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School, and a teacher at Miss Millie’s Child Care Center.
Survivors include her father, Jeffery Lamb of Claremont; her mother, Shelly Turner of Statesville; one sister, Mandy Lamb of Claremont; one brother, Samuel Turner of Statesville; two step-brothers, Bradley Shaw, and Logan Shaw, both of Claremont; one step-sister, Crystal Pearson of Harmony; grandparents, Melvin and Thelma Barlow of Newton; and her great-grandmother, Ree Barlow Friday of Newton.
