MAIDEN - Russell Elcaney Campbell, 91, of 1519 Medford Drive, died April 11, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Amity Presbyterian Church where he was a member. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Born in Lincoln County, he served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Excelsior Lodge #261, the Oasis Temple, and Scottish Rite. He worked as a bus driver for Charlotte City Coach Company until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Prather Campbell; one son, David Campbell of Charlotte; one brother, Everette Campbell of Catawba; and one grandchild, Ryan Campbell of Clemson, S.C.

Born in Gaston County, he worked in the textile industry until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Grace L. Huffstetler; two step-sons, Randy Lewis, and Michael Lewis, both of Gastonia; five grandchildren, Rick Hensley, Randy Hensley, Darrell Hensley, William Hensley, and Janice Womble; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

IRON STATION - Lillie Irene Lineberger Armstrong, 87, of 4026 Randleman Road, died April 13, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sharon Baptist Church where she was a member. Born in Lincoln County, she worked for J.P. Stevens until retirement. She was a Sunday School teacher at her church, as well as the church treasurer, and a member of the choir.
Survivors include her son, Charles “Bo” Armstrong of Iron Station; one daughter, Mrs. Dean A. Sain of Iron Station; one grandchild, Debbie A. Day of Iron Station; and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Florida, he served in the U.S. Army and was retired as Sergeant First Class.
