Louis Albert Shrum, 74, of 1896 Wisteria Lane, died April 22, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. He worked as a building contractor, and served as Fire Chief for 16 years at the North 321 Fire Dept.
Survivors include his wife, Moenner W. Shrum; one daughter, Patti S. Pendleton of Lincolnton; two brothers, Woodrow Shrum, and Ernest Shrum, both of Lincolnton; three sisters, Elizabeth Howard, June Auton, and Ruby Williams, all of Lincolnton; and one grandchild, Ryan Pendleton.

Born in Greenbrier County, W.Va., he was a technician with Ross & Witmer Heating and Refrigeration for 30 years until retirement, and was awarded a civilian medal of bravery by the Federal Government for his assistance during a gas explosion during wartime.
Survivors include his wife, Oma Long Walkup; two daughters, Elaine W. Sherrill of Union Grove, and Jeanne W. Abernathy of Lincolnton; one son, Thomas E. Walkup of Mooresville; one sister, Marjorie W. Osborne of True, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
