Allen Fitzgerald Adams Jr., infant son of Allen Fitzgerald Adams Sr. of Shelby and Brandy Wilson of Lincolnton, was born and died May 19, 2002. A graveside service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hollybrook Cemetery.

Edward Hugh Houser, 80, of 465 Cat Square Road, died May 17, 2002. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial followed in Zion Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a U.S. Airforce WWII veteran, worked as a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until retirement and was a member of the Lincoln Chapter of the America Legion, the Woodmen of the World, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and First Church of God of Drexel.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn B. Houser; one daughter, Vicki Woodruff of Lincolnton; two step-sons, Perry Adams, and Barry Adams, both of Lincolnton; one step-daughter, Sherri Adams of Lincolnton; one brother, Sidney Houser of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Stamey; five sons, Jerry Stamey, Alan Stamey, Tim Stamey, and Greg Stamey, all of Lincolnton, and Bobby Stamey of Maiden; one sister, Beulah Dellinger of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Edna Wright Willis, 88, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, died May 19, 2002. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Stamey Funeral Home. Burial followed in St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born in Cleveland County, she worked as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Fallston Order of the Eastern Star #282. As a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School, was a choir member and director, and was past president of the United Methodist Women’s Society. She served as a volunteer for the Red Cross, high school reading program, Loy White summer camp, and Upper Cleveland Group Ministry.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Christopher of Shelby and Grace Simpson of Hickory; one son, David Willis of Stanley; four brothers, Furman A. Wright of Cherryville, Joe Wright of Casar, John Wright of Lincolnton, and Kenneth Wright of Dallas; two sisters, Viola W. Matheny of Caroleen and Nettie W. Willson of Sumter, S.C.; six grandchildren, Bruce Dalton, Michael Dalton, Darin Simpson, Jason Willis, John Willis, and Dana Willis; two step grandchildren, Graham Smith and Summer Smith; and four great-grandchildren.

SHELBY - Rev. Daniel David Swink, 52, of 107 Debby Drive, died May 18, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Friendship United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a United Methodist Minister ordained in 1969. He served at many churches throughout his life including parishes in local areas, Crowell Memorial United Methodist Church, and Palm Tree United Methodist Church. He served on Emmaus weekends as Spiritual Leader and/or Director, and in the Epiphany Ministry at the Western North Carolina Youth Facility in Morganton, a prison for boys.
Survivors include three brothers, James Swink Jr. and Bob Swink, both of Lawndale, and William Swink of Lincolnton; and six sisters, Ruth Swink, Faye Swink, and Pauline Swink, all of Lawndale, Frances Smith of Morganton, Ruby Leatherman, and Minnie Jenkins, both of Lincolnton.
