SUMTER, S.C. - Ruth Brewer Gates, 82, formerly of Lincolnton, died June 3, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at Warlick Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 at the funeral home.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., she was a commercial and residential interior designer.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Gates of Sumter, S.C., and Gordan Gates of Rehoboth, Del.; two daughters, Linda Trotter of Lincolnton, and Lesa Singleton of Sumter, S.C.; one sister, Edna Woods of Hundle Mil; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Helen Goins
CROUSE - Helen Black Goins, 74, of 232 Hepzibah Church Road, died June 3, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Anthony Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cherryville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Orangeburg County, S.C., she was a homemaker.

MINERAL BLUFF, Ga. - Cecil Ross died May 31, 2002. A graveside service was held Monday in the Ross Family Cemetery in Mineral Bluff.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Goins Ross; a daughter, Trudy Anders of Northport, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Bryan Anders, and Angela Anders.

John Bell

Born in Chester, S.C., he was a U.S. Army veteran, and worked as a foreman for Allied Chemical Co.

Everette Aderholdt
DALLAS - Everette Avery Aderholdt, 84, of 3302 Dallas High Shoals Road, died June 5, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Gaston County, he was a heavy equipment operator for the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Dallas for 35 years until retirement. He also served as a former Sunday school teacher at his church.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Friday Aderholt; a daughter, Susan Aderholt of the home; and three sisters, Ruth Eurey, and Inez Carpenter, both of Lincolnton, and Jean Sherrill of Carthage.

Born in Mecklenburg County, she taught physical education in Maryland, and North Carolina. She was also the leader of the Adult Sunday School class at her church, and an active member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Carroll Smith; a daughter, Heather Morris of Huntersville; a sister, Brenda Schaeffer of Severna Park, Md.; a brother, Dennis B. Dellinger Jr. of Lowesville; and one grandchild, Mackenzi Virginia Morris.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a member of Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a service and parts technician with Hoyle Motor Company for 45 years until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Easter Gibbs; three daughters, Priscilla Beckwith of Hope Mills, Joyce Floyd of Gastonia, and Camilla Gibbs of the home; three brothers, Marvin Gibbs of CarterElmore of Lincolnton; his mother, Mozelle Senter Texas; a daughter, Frances Mauney of Cherryville; two sisters, Willie Mae Ballard of Lincolnton and Jessie Smith of Cherryville; six grandchildren, Reba Craft, Michael Mauney, Elaine Carlson, Todd Hudson, Kathy Hodge, and Robert Hudson; and ten great-grandchildren.
