Mary Grace Shultz Sutton, 98, of 2229 Drive-In Road, died June 29, 2003. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Gainsville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Born in Sevier County, Tenn. she was a homemaker and retired from the textile industry.
Survivors include one son, Bruce Sutton Jr. of Lincolnton; two daughters, Doris McQuester of Lincolnton and Hattie Boyles of Raleigh; two sisters, Ethel Walker and Mabel Caldwell both of Lincolnton; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.
Born in Cleveland County, she worked for PPG Industries until retirement, and was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Chuck McSwain of Shelby, Jeff Huber of Lawndale, and Danny Huber of Ellenboro; a daughter, Denise Moss of Cherryville; three brothers, Tom Carterof Hickory Grove, S.C., and David Foster of Shelby, Martha Bridges of Lawndale, and Betty Champion of Cherryville; and eight grandchildren.

CHERRYVILLE - Mary Helen Wright, 72, of 1132 Wehunt Store Road, died June 28, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a homemaker and a pianist for several area churches.
Survivors include a brother, Hubert Wright of Vale; and two sisters, Evelyn King of Fallston, and Louise Melton of Casar.

She was born in White Mills, Pa.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou Blood of Geneva, N.Y. and Nancy Rickard of Iron Station; two sons, James Crooks and William Crooks, both of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Conzo of Corning, N.Y., and Rita Wright of Mocksville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Clyde Shipe
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - Clyde Raymond “Ray” Shipe, 87, died June 29, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. the family will receive friends Tuesday night form 7 until 9 at the funeral home.
Born in Detrick, W.Va., he worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center until retirement. He was a former member of the Shepherdstown Fire Department, a former Shepherdstown Police Officer, and helped raise a number of foster children.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Shipe; a son, J. Scott Shipe of Hagerstown, Md.; three daughters, Shirley Simpson of Sherperdstown, Nancy Folkedahl of Watsonville, California and Carolyn Gaffney of Lincolnton, N.C.; a foster daughter, Susan Shreve of Hedgesville; three sisters, Kathryn Shipe of Ownings Mills, Md., Ruth Turlington, and Helen Fitchett, both of Chincoteague, Va.; ten grandchildren; a foster grandchild; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

CHERRYVILLE - Stella Mae Jenkins Ballard, 86, of 511 South Elm Street, died July 2, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Wesleyan Church where she was a member. Burial will follow in City Memorial Cemetery. the family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, she worked as the City Clerk for the City of Cherryville for almost 25 years until retirement. She also served as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader at her church.
Survivors include a son, Joe J. Ballard of Cherryville; a daughter, Brenda B. Carpenter of Cherryville; a sister, Thelma “Toots” Abernathy of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren, Angela Carswell, Candy Wright, Blake Carpenter, Kevin Carpenter, Heather Carpenter, Dana Peres, and Jamey Wyatt; and six great-grandchildren.

SHERRILLS FORD - Isabel Gudger Howard Sigmon, 84, died July 2, 2002. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Denver. A memorial service will follow in the church, where she was a member. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.
Born in Iredell County, she was very involved at her church.
Survivors include two sons, Coley Howard, and Joe Howard; a daughter, Susan Sherrill; a brother, Frank Gudger; a sister, Lib Knox; seven grandchildren, Jenni, Lori, Carole, Stephanie, Patti, Jamye, and Matthew; and nine great-grandchildren.

Born in Cleveland County, she worked for Cleveland Mills and Ansley Corporation until retirement. She was a former choir member, Sunday School teacher, and former member and past president of the United Methodist Women. She was also a former member of the Lawndale Women’s Club and Lawndale Homemaker’s Club.
Survivors include her husband, John Martin Shuford; a daughter, Barbara Shuford Wright of Kings Mountain; a sister, Bryte McEntire of Lawndale; and two grandchildren, Alicia Wright, and Michelle James.
