CROUSE — Lummia “Lum” J. Davis, 80, of 323 Anthony Grove Church Road, died July 12, 2002. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at Anthony Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army WWII veteran. He worked as a mechanic for Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Green Stewart Davis; a son, Loy Davis of Sumter, S.C.; a daughter, Mary Patterson of Crouse; a step daughter, Vickie Hamrick of Cherryville; a sister, Gladys Smith of Cherryville; two grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

CROUSE — Helen Mae Anthony Gray, 70, of 244 Hephzibah Church Road, died July 14, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Anthony Grove Baptist Church where she was a member. Burial will followed in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight form 6 until 8 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home.
Born in Lincoln County, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, J.C. Gray; a daughter, Debbie Shull of Crouse; four grandchildren, Chris Shull, Eric Shull, Amanda Harris, and Amy Shull; and four great-grandchildren.

Helen Bracey Wilson, 63, of 1278 Springdale Park Drive, died July 9, 2002. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service. Burial followed in Hollybrook Cemetery.
Born in Rutherford County, she attended Walls Memorial Baptist Church, and worked for the Avery family at Cochrane Furniture Company until retirement.
Survivors include a son, John Everett Wilson Jr. of Charlotte; four daughters, Patty W. Currence of Crouse, Virginia W. Littlejohn, and Georgia W. Lyons, both of Lincolnton and Emmy Huch of Vale; two brothers, Bill Bracey of Charlotte, and Curtis Bracey of Lincolnton; two sisters, Bettie B. Woods, and Mildred B. Wilson, both of Lincolnton; 22 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Born in Graham County, he was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran, and worked as a water plant operator with the City of Lincolnton until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Weathers Crisp; three sons, Clayton Crisp, Kenneth Crisp, and Derrick Crisp, all of Lincolnton; a daughter, Melissa Crisp of Black Mountain; a brother, Samuel Ronnie Crisp of Robbinsville; and one granddaughter.
Karl Lambert
CHERRYVILLE — Karl Alexander Lambert, 55, of 204 Dale Drive, died July 13, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
Born in Burke County, he was a senior computer analyst with Newark Electronics in Gaffney S.C., and worked as a professor at Western Piedmont Community College, and UNC-Chapel Hill. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, the Amateur Radio Club of Gastonia where he served as former president, the RC Flying Club of Shelby, and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lail Lambert; a son, Keith Lambert of Fallston; a daughter, Angela Smith of Shelby; his parents, Jack Alexander Lambert and Mary Alice Morris Lambert, both of Drexel; three brothers, Bob Lambert of Morganton, Jack Lambert of Albertville, Minn., and John Lambert of Drexel; a sister, Mary Anne Ritchie of Drexel; and two grandchildren, Baylen Smith and Isaac Smith.

Robert Stamey Sr.
NEWBERRY — Robert Eloy Stamey Sr., 79, died June 22, 2002. A funeral service was held June 25 at First Baptist Church in Newberry, Fla. where he was a member. Burial followed in Newberry Cemetery.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a construction contractor and part owner of Stamey’s Plastering. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Stamey of Newberry, Fla.; a daughter, Ann S. Campbell of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sons, Robert E. Stamey Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla. and Michael H. Stamey of New Port Richey, Fla.; a sister Margaret Mosteller of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Jose Manuel Deleon, 19, of 126 Deaton Avenue, died July 16, 2002. No services are planned at this time.

Born in Lincoln County, she was a former employee with Shadowline, and worked with the Lincoln County School System until retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth E. Haynes; a son, Ray Haynes of Cherryville; three daughters, Patricia Self of Cherryville, Nancy Quinn of Kings Mountain, and Karon Turner of Shelby; a sister, Alma McNeely of Cherryville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

HICKORY — Judy Kerley Martin, 83, of 742 21st Ave. SW, died July 18, 2002. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today in Catawba Memorial Park. The body will lie in state until 2 p.m. today at Burke Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Born in Alexander County, she attended Central Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.

Born in Caldwell County, he was employed with Rubatex Corporation, and formerly employed as assistant manager at Hickory Animal Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Matthew Simmons of Hickory; two brothers, Leonard Simmons and Bruce Simmons, both of Hickory; and two sisters, Lois S. Roseman and Glenda “G.K.” Simmons, both of Hickory.
