Born in Lincoln County, she was a member of Bethphage Lutheran Church of Crouse and was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Victor Loy of West Palm Beach, Fla., Buck Loy of Oriental, and Dayne Loy of Lincolnton; two daughters, Karen Loy of Lincolnton, and Michelle Bingham of Cherryville; one brother, Harlee Beam of Lincolnton; three sisters, Pat Heavner of Crouse, Hallin Heavner of Vale, and Megan Heidt of Raleigh; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

VALE - Lula Mae Crowder, 85, of 822 Falling Brook Lane, died July 26, 2002. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel at E.F. Drum Funeral Home. Burial followed in Macedonia Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a member of Macedonia Methodist Church and was employed as an inspector in the hosiery industry.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Davis of Vale; a daughter, Shirley Wright of Charlotte; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

VALE - Charles Thomas Fulbright Sr., 70, of 4230 Wise Road, died July 26, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Palm Tree United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Catawba County, he worked as a doffer for Mohican Mills until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Fulbright; three sons, Joe DiBernardo, and Charles DiBernardo, both of Vale, and Charles Fulbright Jr. of Hickory; two daughters, Bea Wise of Vale, and Linda Wingler of Hildebran; one sister, Catherine Houser of Vale; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Born in Lincoln County, he was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran and was employed as a dock worker for Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation of Cherryville for 30 years until retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette Willis Huss; a son, Travis Dale Huss of Crouse; two daughters, Stephanie Creighton, and Melissa Huss, both of Crouse; seven brothers, Boyce Huss, Harry Huss, and Edwin Huss, all of Crouse, Bennett Reep, N.C. Huss Jr., Donald Huss, and Johnny Huss, all of Lincolnton; five sisters, Christine Dixon, and Blanche Black, both of Crouse, Mabel Greene, and Themla Hoyle, both of Shelby, and Marie Sigmon, of Cherryville; and two grandchildren, Harley Creighton, and Miranda Creighton.

Survivors include two daughters, Carole Bumgarner of Greenville, S.C., and Darole Williams of Lincolnton; one brother, Kenneth “Bud” Harkey of Lincolnton; one sister, Martha “Sis” Garver of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; Penny Jones, Jackie Bumgarner, Susan Williams, Bobbie Williams, Johnny Bumgarner, and Donna Warren; and nine great-grandchildren.

MAIDEN - Florence E. Mathisen, 85, of 4874 Graystone Lane, died July 27, 2002. No services will be held.
Born in Long Island, N.Y., she was a member of Denver United Methodist Church in Denver, and was employed as a telephone operator for Nine X, Verizon Communications until retirement.
