Born in Lincoln County, he was a pipe fitter with Grinnell Company and a WWII Navy veteran.
Survivors include one son, Landy D. Mitchem of Lincolnton; two brothers, Terry Mitchem of Cary and Calvin Mitchem of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Luke Mitchem and Matthew Mitchem.

Forrestine “Tina” Driskill Loyd, 84, of 709 S. Tait St., died July 15, 2003. Services will be held at a later date in Alabama.
Born in Dawson, Ala., she was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandy Taylor of Sherrills Ford; one son, Darrell Bailey of Ford, Texas; four brothers, Harvel Driskill of Crossville, Ala., C.B. Driskill of Ft. Payne, Ala., Verlon Driskill of Statesville and Kenneth Driskill of Arab, Ala.; one sister, Clarice Driskill of Crossville, Ala.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Born in Catawba County, she was a retired cashier from Harris Teeter.

Born in Prebble County, Ohio, he worked in the restaurant equipment business.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy L. Parks; three sons, Robert Lakes of Iron Station and two sons from Ohio; three daughters, Delaine Beard of Vale and two daughters of Ohio; two brothers, Harold Parks and Vernon Parks of Ohio; two sisters, Elenora Hanna of Ohio and Jeanie Millhollan of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

CHERRYVILLE — Albert Robert Britt Sr., 85, of 809 Self St., died July 16, 2003. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Sharon Memorial Park.
Born in Madison, Wis., he was retired from Mercy Hospital, Food Processing Cafeteria as food service manager, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Grigg Britt; one brother, Marshall K. Britt of Matthews; and three sisters, Norma Paffel of Sponner, Wis., Mabel Paffel of Cumberland, Wis. and Betty Lindsay of Charlotte.

Born in Cabarrus County, he was an Episcopal priest and counselor in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Survivors include his father, Robert G. Johnson of Lincolnton; one sister, Karen Bolick of Denver; two daughters, Kelly Gresham and Heather Johnson; and four grandchildren.

Born in Gaston County, she served as a Sunday school teacher at Rudisill Chapel AME Zion Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred M. Graves; two sons, Alphonse M. Graves of Cherryville and Ronald T. Graves of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren, Ashton Graves, Jeanie Graves, Preston Graves and Corey Graves; and one great-grandchild.

FALLSTON — Robert Earl Beam, 82, of 3915 Waco-Fallston Road, died July 18, 2003. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Fallston Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a retired businessman and assisted his son with Jack’s Fire Extinguishers and served in the Navy during WWII.
Survivors include his son; Bob Beam of Fallston; one grandson, Michael Beam of Cherryville; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Beam of Shelby, D.C. Beam of Fallston and Edwin Beam of Lenoir and one sister, Ruth Brittain of Yorktown, Va.
