Survivors include a sister, Pauline Yancey of Maiden; three grandchildren, Tim Hawn, Terri Brewington, and Kimberly Hartgrove; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

MAIDEN - Joseph Clyde Rome, 83, of 305 Cherokee Trail, died Aug. 2, 2002. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Goodin-Drum Funeral Home. Burial followed in Maiden City Cemetery.
Born in Rutherford County, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, an American Legion Post member, and employed in the assembly department of Bassett Furniture of Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Lessie H. Rome; a son, Donald R. Rome of Maiden; five grandchildren, Kelly Rome, James Rome, Sean Rome, Michael Rome, and Lori McCray; and two great-grandchildren.

MAIDEN - Billy Conard Drum, 67, of the Abernethy Center, formerly of 808 Hatchett Road in Lincolnton, died Aug. 1, 2002. A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member.
Born in Catawba County, he worked as a finisher with Superior Chair.
Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Ethel Drum of the home; and six sisters, Taltha Parker, Pansy Smith, Nancy Josey, Joyce Hannon, and Sharon Good, all of Maiden; and Judy Herron of Lincolnton.

DENVER - Ethel Mae Yount Sigmon, 90, of the Wexford House, formerly of Denver, died Aug. 6, 2002. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at the church.
Born in Lincoln County, she was employed as a school teacher until retirement, teaching at Rock Springs Elementary School and Sherrills Ford Elementary School.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Sigmon and Johnny Sigmon, both of Sherrills Ford, and Tony Sigmon of Denver; a daughter, Sharon Sherrill of Denver; two sisters, Pauline Sherrill and Virginia Wellborn, both of Lincolnton; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
