Corbett Family Cemetery near Fountain.

AUGUSTA, GA. -- William Franklin "Bill" Welfare Jr., 82, died Thursday.
Memorial services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel in
Evans, Ga.
Welfare, a Wilson, N.C., native, was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in World
War II and founded Snow Hill Milling Co. in Greene County in 1948.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and chairman of the finance
committee for many years. He served on the Production Credit Board for 23 years.
He was a member of the Snow Hill Rotary Club and a member of the board of
directors of Wachovia Bank in Snow Hill. He served as chairman of the Greene
Central School Committee for many years.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, six daughters and 13 grandchildren.

General Hospital. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Homer E. Morris at 2
p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Bay View
Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter; two sons; one sister, Elizabeth P. Hicks
of Wilson; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren,
The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home, Morehead City,
Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
