Lillian Ann Day Painter

In the early morning hours of January 27, 2016 Lillian D. Painter flew home after a long illness at Pruitt Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. Mrs. Painter was 84 years old. Born on April 3, 1931. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robert and Gara Day; her husband, John D. Painter "Bum"; a grandson, Dennis Stone; a great-granddaughter, Layla Baker; two brothers, Philip and Durell Day; two sisters, Alice Day and Molly Bet Pulliam; a son-in-law, David Stone. She retired from Burlington Industrial and later worked as a packer for Loxcreen. Mrs. Painter was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family.
She leaves behind two sons: Donnie Painter (Shirley), George "PeeWee" Painter (Jeanne); four daughters: Carolyn Dunn, Gara Lee Stone, Betty Lou Thrift (Ellis), Cathy Perkins (Tom); a special granddaughter, Barbara "Bobbie" Zimmerman (Artie). Mrs. Painter is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren; three sisters: Bertha Lou Owens, Polly Puett, and Sally Jane Guill; one brother, John Thomas Day.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the Brooks & White Chapel.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 29, 2016 in the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Hal Dickerson. Interment will follow in the Day Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clay Dunn, Hank Long, Brett Anderson, Lacy Painter, Kevin Painter, and Chris Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Hugyez, Ryan Teasley, Justin Goss, and Christopher Ingersol.
Shirley Raymelle Adcock

Shirley Raymelle Adcock, 86, died Saturday, January 16, 2016. She was born in Timberlake to the late Houston (Hugh) and Ora Blalock. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dean Adcock.
Mrs. Adcock attended Louisburg College. She enjoyed playing golf, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church and served on various committees within her church and volunteered her time in the community.
Surviving are three children, Beverly Adcock MacFee of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Jan Adcock Joyner and husband Eddie of Mooresville and Millicent Blake Snow and husband Terry of Hillsborough; one sister, Kay Huff and husband Donald; seven grandchildren, Cleopatra Cameron, Ian MacFee, Travis Joyner, Colby Joyner, Carson Joyner, Cameron Snow, and Jordan Snow and great-grandchildren, Max Bennett of Santa Barbara, California, Catarina and Tristan Palank of Goleta, California and Preston and Caden Joyner of Lewisville.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24 at Roxboro Baptist Church with the Rev. DuPre Sanders officiating.

Suzanne Kay Smith Horne

Suzanne Kay Smith Horne, 61, of 390 Stoney Mountain Rd., Rougemont, died Monday, February 22, 2016. Born in Durham County, Mrs. Horne was the daughter of the late Ralph Bailey Smith and Margaret Laws Smith, who survives. Mrs. Horne was a child care provider and a very active member of Antioch Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a prayer shawl ministry leader.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Horne is survived by her husband, William Emory (Pete) Horne, Jr.; five children, Kevin Horne and wife Chasity, and Mindy Allen and Tyler Henderson, all of Roxboro, Megan Bevill and husband Adam, of Savannah, GA, Ashley Rogers and husband Ben, of Roxboro and Kelly Horne, of the home; one sister, Connie Jayne Smith, of Durham; seven grandchildren, Kenzley and Brenley Horne, Braxton and Jillian Allen, Nathan Bevill, Kendall and Luke Rogers, and Peyton and Blane Henderson.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Antioch Baptist Church by the Dr. M. David Chambers.

Mearlene Crabtree Hubbard

Mearlene Crabtree Hubbard, 82, of Mebane, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Born in Orange County, Mrs. Hubbard was the daughter of the late Archie Frank and Minnie Susan Brown Crabtree. Mrs. Hubbard retired from Collins & Aikman and was a member of Grace Independent Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hubbard is survived by three sons, Bobby Rudder, of High Point, Edward Rudder, of Burlington and Michael Rudder and wife Jaimie, of Mebane; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Grace Independent Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. James Albert and Rev. Charles Hamilton. Visitation will be held 6-7:30 PM Friday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Lois Oakley Eggleston

Lois Oakley Eggleston age 87 died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Person Memorial Hospital. She was born in Halifax, Virginia to the late Toby and Ora Hudson Oakley. Mrs. Eggleston was wife of the late James Joseph Eggleston. She was of the baptist faith.
Surviving are two children, Susie Eggleston of Roxboro and James J. "Jimmy" Eggleston and wife Susan of Keeling, VA.; two grandchildren, Kelly Eggleston of Boston, MA and James E. Eggleston of Danville, VA.; two sisters, Reva O. Houck and Theresa S. Oakley both of Roxboro.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Brooks and White Chapel.
The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery.

Janet Tatum Walker

Janet Tatum Walker of Leasburg passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at Duke Medical Center. She was born June 14, 1949 in Caswell County to the late Bruce and Mildred Webster Tatum and was married for almost 48 years to Ricky Walker, who survives.
She is survived by her husband, Ricky, of the home; sisters, Sandra Robbins and Susie Allred and husband, Tom; brother, William Tatum and wife, Sharon; nephews, Jason Crews and wife, DeeDee, and Jackson Neighbors; nieces, Lauren Neighbors, Brooke McPherson and husband, Ryan, Olivia Tatum, Katie Crews, and Jessye Crews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Leasburg Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Leasburg Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Brann, Mark Brann, Dale Brann, Barry Pleasant, Dwayne Clayton, Doug Clayton, Stacy Kendrick, and Tracy Kendrick.
