Wayne Thomas Oakley, 69, of 95 Edgemont Ave., Roxboro, died Sunday, March 6, 2016. Born in Person County, Mr. Oakley is the son of the late Lester Oakley and Barbara Moore Oakley Wilborn. Mr. Oakley worked previously worked at the Person County Group Home. When Mr. Oakley married his wife, Rebecca Russell Oakley, who survives, they were the first clients in the Independent Living Program of the Person County Group Homes Inc., the Person County ARC, and the Orange-Person-Chatham Mental Health Center. They were married for over 25 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Ann Oakley.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Oakley is survived by his step-son, Carl Long and wife Dee Dee; four grandchildren, Nicole, Carly, Kierstyn and Dane Long; and his brothers-in-law, Harry Russell, Dennis Russell and Gene Russell.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Wayne Bowes. Burial will follow in the Day Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-3 PM Tuesday at the Brooks & White Chapel prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, David Forsythe, John Nolan, Ricky McKee, Greg Pickler, Mike Poole and Jimmy Phelps.
Virginia Lee Ward Barker

Virginia Lee Ward Barker, 89, of NC HWY 62 N, Milton, died Monday, March 7, 2016. Mrs. Barker was born in Halifax County to the late Solomon Paron Ward and Ennice Davis Ward. She is preceded in death by her husband of over sixty years, Harrell Wells Barker and her son, David Barker. Mrs. Barker was a home maker and taught piano lessons for many years. She was a member of Milton United Methodist Church and was the organist for over fifty years; she was also an active member of the Milton Woman's Club. Mrs. Barker was a graduate of Madison College and majored in music. Mrs. Barker is survived by her two sons: Wells Barker of Beaufort and Mike Barker of Newport; three grandchildren: Kyle Barker and wife, Heather of Roxboro, Dr. Jason Barker and wife, Julie of Clemmons, Troie Barker of San Diego, CA; three great-grandchildren: Kylie Barker, Hayden Barker, and Kadence Barker.
A memorial graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Cedar's Cemetery by the Rev. John Upton. The family will receive friends anytime at the home.

Hazel M. Mooney

Hazel M. Mooney, 97, of Roxboro, died Thursday, February 25, 2016. Born in Person County, Mrs. Mooney was the daughter of the late Lucious and Lelia Newton Mangum. She is preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Mooney; two brothers: Bernice (B.C.) Mangum and Baxter Mangum; five sisters: Zelma Stephenson, Pallie Clayton, Pearle Childress, Mattie Garrett, and Eunice Jones. Mrs. Mooney was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.
Mrs. Mooney is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Brooks & White Chapel by Elder Jimmy Gray. Burial will follow in the Mooney Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Brooks & White Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Garrett, Conley Mangum, Bill Mangum, John Mangum, Ray Stephenson, and Robert Cox.

Walter Lee Davis

Walter Lee Davis, age 50, of 855 Woodsdale Road, died Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born in Person County to the late William Merritt Davis and Edna Loraine Walker Davis, who survives.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Davis is survived by his son, William "Bill" Davis, of the home; two stepdaughters, Jessica Bolick and Alitia Hawkins; one stepson, Christopher Barwick; one brother, Glenn Edward Davis, of Roxboro; eleven grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Pastor Frankie Reaves. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Clarice Marie Oakley Hayes

Clarice Wilkerson Oakley Hayes, 67, of 1140 Woodsdale Rd., Roxboro, died Friday, February 5, 2016. Born in Durham County, Mrs. Hayes is the daughter of the late Clarence Wilkerson and Mary Chambers Wilkerson Latta, of Hillsborough, who survives. Mrs. Hayes was a beautician and a member of Ca-Vel Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Hayes is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Hayes, Jr.; two sons, Calvin L. Oakley, of Charlotte, and Mark Oakley, of Roxboro; two stepchildren, Michelle Daye, of Roxboro and Dwayne Hayes, of Roxboro; one brother, Guthrie Long, of Burlington; two sisters, Faye Tyree, of Hillsborough and Regina Hebert, of Burlington; one grandchild, Tammy Oakley and three step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6:00-7:30 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Ca-Vel Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Richard Long and Dr. M. David Chambers. Interment will follow in the Aiken Blalock Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Wolfe, Barry Blalock, Tony Wesley, Lacy Compton, Tom Chambers, and Fred McKay.

Mary Frances Harris Satterfield

Mary Frances Harris Satterfield, 90, of 2376 Morton Pulliam Road, Roxboro, died Monday, February 1, 2016. Born in Person County, Mrs. Satterfield was the daughter of the late James Flemming and Martha Lonie Whitt Harris and wife of the late Curtis Malone Satterfield. Mrs. Satterfield was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She drove for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was preceded in death by her brother, Corbett Harris. Mrs. Satterfield was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Satterfield is survived by her children, Patsy Gray, Tommy Satterfield and wife Rita, Reid Satterfield and wife Joyce and Kay Coates, all of Roxboro; one sister, Elizabeth Oakley, of Roxboro; five grandchildren, Michael Gray and wife Lynn, Kim Bradsher and husband Reid, Alan Satterfield and wife Allison, Jason Coates and Justin Coates and four great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Casey Mursten and the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Reid Bradsher, Alan Satterfield, Bobby Gray, Mike Gray, Justin Coates, and Tim Williams.
