Robert "Bob" William Baynard

Rev. Robert "Bob" William Baynard, age 79, of 302 Montford Drive, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his home. He was born in Rutherford County, NC, and was the son of the late Verland Baynard and Kathleen Hill Baynard, and husband of the late Joan Marie Thibault Baynard. Mr. Baynard received his Master's Degree of Divinity from South Western Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX, and his Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma Baptist University.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Watson Baynard, of the home; two daughters: Kathy Baynard Oakley (Gary), of Roxboro, and Heidi Baynard Oakley (Randy), of Roxboro; one stepson, Curtis Kidd (Bonnie), of Roxboro; one sister, Martha B. Smart, of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren: Zack Oakley (Kristen), Seth Oakley (Taylor), Caleb Oakley, Jacob Oakley, Hannah Oakley, and Kailey Oakley; one step-grandson, Landen Kidd; one great-grandchild, Adelaide Oakley.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Sharon Baptist Church, and other times at the home.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Sharon Baptist Church by the Rev. Vernon Wilkerson and the Dr. M. David Chambers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Curtis Kidd, and Randy Burress.

Sallylou Elizabeth Kirby Winstead

Sallylou Kirby Winstead age 88 of Roxboro died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Person Memorial Hospital. She was born in Person County to the late Joseph and Odell Thomas Kirby. Sallylou was predeceased by her siblings, Woodson Kirby, Nelson Kirby, Harry Kirby, and Jane K. Harris. She was wife of the late Frank James Winstead, Jr. Sallylou attended Averette College. She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church. She was the office manager of Growers Warehouse, working and traveling for many years on the tobacco market. Sallylou was one of the oldest members of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Joan Kirby, Joey Kirby (Lynne), Tommy Kirby, Lynn Pearce, Kirby Harris (Sharon), and Loudell Medford(Steve); also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Kirby and her brother-in-law, Dolian Harris.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 PM to 2 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
The graveside service will be 2 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 at Burchwood Cemetery with the Dr. DuPre Sanders officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joey Kirby, Trey Kirby, Kirby Harris, Tommy Kirby, Steve Medford, and Cecil Allen.

Robert Murphy Wilson

Robert Murphy Wilson age 72 of Timberlake, died Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. He was born December 9, 1942 in Vance County to the late Jeter and Ollie Critcher Wilson. Prior to his retirement from NC Dept. of Transportation in Durham, he was employed with Swift & Co. and Durham County Animal Control. He was a navy veteran and member of Gateway Baptist Church. Murphy had an unsurpassed zest for fun and life; this created a wide circle of friends that have suffered an irreplaceable loss. He had the characteristic of never taking himself too seriously. Above all, he was a faithful and loving husband, daddy, and grandpa.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Turner Wilson. Survivors include his wife Adelaide Chambers Wilson, four daughters, Sandy Wilson of Durham, Allison Finch (Greg) of Youngsville, Pam Easter (Clayton) of Henderson, Bonita Stewart (Billy) of Benson, one son, Lester Henson of Manson, four grandsons, C.J. Parsons, Scott Parsons, Chris Easter, and Jesse Long; one sister, Lallye Rose Moore of Big Spring, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at Gateway Baptist Church (2370 Chambers Loop Road, Timberlake, NC 27583) Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Phillip Adams (Nephew) and the Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. The visitation will be at 2:00 PM.

Nelson Frank Gatewood

Nelson Frank Gatewood, 89, of 169 Old Durham Road died Wednesday, September 2, 2015. He was born in Madison County to the late John and Nancy Gibson Gatewood. Mr. Gatewood was also preceded in death by one son, Tim Gatewood and his son-in-law, Stanley King. He served during World War II, was a member of the American Legion Post 137, and a former member of the Roxboro Moose Lodge. Mr. Gatewood also loved bluegrass and was an avid Nascar fan and loved watching the race on Sunday with his best friend, Jesse Duncan. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Judith Hunter Gatewood, of the home; three daughters, Tina G. Carter and husband Doug, Trecy Eagle King, and Pamela Eagle Blankenship and husband Freddy, all of Roxboro; one sister, Mildred White and husband Houston, of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Amber King Milligan, Tobie King, Joshua Clayton, Krista Carter, and Dusty Blankenship; and 5 great-grandchildren, Christian Milligan, James Addington, Taylor Clayton, Harper Clayton, and August James Blankenship.
A graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Person Memorial Cemetery by Rev. Richard Long and Mr. Doug Carter. The family will receive friends anytime at the home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Duncan, Joshua Clayton, and Dusty Blankenship.

Kaylean Roach Clayton, 61, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015. She was born in Person County to the late Ira Roach and Connie Childress.
Surviving are her immediate family, two daughters, Amanda Martin-Smith and husband James and Amy Davis and husband Jeff, both of Roxboro; and three grandchildren, Michaela Martin, Jaxon Smith, and McKenzie Davis.
A memorial service will held 2:00 PM Friday, July 17, 2015 at McGhee's Mill Baptist Church.

Lewis Arch Walker

Lewis Arch Walker, 85, of 406 Ellen St., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2015. He was born April 8, 1930 to the late Herman and Sallie Bet Walker. He was retired from Collins & Aikman after 32 years service. He served in the US Army in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1960. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. Lewis loved his country, his God and most of all his family. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, "PaPa", and Great Papa. He always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger and was the most generous man you could ever meet. He was a man's man with the heart of a young boy. Lewis was preceded in death by four brothers, Rainey, Ernest, Robert and Jessie and one sister, Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mae Walker; son Randy and his wife Denise of Roxboro, son Mark and his wife Chloe, of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren Blake and wife Christy, of Roxboro, Samuel, Sophie, Wilson and Claire, of Rock Hill, SC; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Aiden and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at the Brooks & White Chapel. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM Monday prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Mike Walker, Mike Hayes, Cecil Lee, Lawrence "Pop" Walker, Bobby Rhew, Pat Cozart, and Jimmy Clayton. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.
