Charlotte Robinson Watson, age 82, died Wednesday morning, May 13, 2015 in Person Memorial Hospital. She was born in Granville County to the late Joseph S. and Grezelle Overton Robinson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Watson, Sr., her daughter, Wanda Watson, and grandson, David Tuck. Charlotte was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Watson was formerly employed by Wise Fashions where she was a store manager and later worked at Wal-Mart.
Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Charles F. Watson, Jr. & Kayre, of Caswell Pines, Ginger Williams & Bruce of Oxford, and Kent Watson & Jean of Roxboro; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; and one sister, Carolyn R. Watkins of Rolesville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2015 at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM at the Brooks & White Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Lou Nuckles, Joe Watkins, Frankie Watkins, W. A. Long, Kyle Watson, and Clifton Lee.
Annie Catherine Nelson Whitlow

Catherine Nelson Whitlow of 10860 Virgilina Rd. died at Duke Regional Hospital, Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the age of 97 following a brief illness. Born in Person County, she is the daughter of the late Henry Daniel Nelson and Callie Wilson Nelson. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 49 years, Henry Robie Whitlow, who preceded her in death, December 1984. She was diligent in all of her work on the farm, which included working in the field, tending to the cow and chickens, canning, cooking for her loved ones, sewing or anything else that needed to be done. She was also a loving mother to her only son James Robert Whitlow, and often helped care for her grandchildren, who played at her home as children. She even provided a home for her sisters, Rose Chaney and Idarea Walker, who have preceded her death along with nine of her other siblings. She was a member of High View Baptist Church and saved by Jesus Christ, so we are certain we will meet her again.
Surviving are her only son James “Jimmy” Robert Whitlow and wife Melonie, of Roxboro ; six grandchildren: Donna Whitlow, Jimmy Whitlow and wife Kathy, Robbie Whitlow and wife Linda, Cathy Pulliam and husband Doug, Christopher Whitlow, and Adam Whitlow, along with fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two half sisters: Francis Wheeler and Fannie Mae Walker and two caregivers: Gladys Cash and Kim Pulliam.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Dennis McDonald and Rev. Jimmy Pulliam. Burial will follow in the Virgilina Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00–11:00 a.m., Friday July 3, 2015 at Providence Baptist Church and after the service at her home.
Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Whitlow, Robbie Whitlow, Christopher Whitlow, Adam Whitlow, Doug Pulliam, and Michael Chaney.

Anthony Dale Harris, Sr.

Anthony "Tony" Dale Harris, Sr., 71, of 1410 Pointer St., died Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Born in Person County, Mr. Harris was the son of the late James Harris and Neville Tuck Day, who survives. Mr. Harris retired from Becton Dickerson and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Harris is survived by his companion, Shirley Thaxton, of Roxboro; two sons, Andy Harris, of Roxboro and Kendall Harris, of Durham; five grandchildren, Ashley Forbis, Casey Harris, Morgan Harris, Kaitlin Martin and Sara Harris; and five great-grandchildren.
William Norman "Bill" Maloney

William Norman Maloney April 8, 1965 – September 4, 2015
Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio but moved to Person County in 1966 and was raised in this community. Bill graduated from Person High School in 1983 and attended Park Community College. Bill served thirteen years in the United States Air Force. He was a Tech Sergeant and served as a Ground Communications Specialist. Bill was employed by CenturyLink for nineteen years as a Translations Engineer. Bill leaves behind a wonderful example and legacy of faith. Bill loved his Lord Jesus and his church family at Westwood Baptist Church. He was a faithful leader, servant, teacher and shepherd. Bill served as a Deacon, teacher, men’s leader, and Elder. He led by example serving whenever and wherever he was needed. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (Jn. 15:13) Bill did this. He was preceded in death by parents, Ronald James and Elizabeth Bender Maloney; sisters, Mary Ann Maloney, Debbie Ann Maloney, and Lee Ann Maloney.
Bill deeply loved his family and his friends. He is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Tracey Campbell Maloney and his daughter Makayla Elizabeth Maloney. He faithfully led and served them as a Christian husband and father. He is also survived by his older brother, Ronald James Maloney Jr. and his wife Debbie Maloney; sister, Amy Farr, and brother Patrick Maloney. Six nieces, Carmen Maloney, Courtney Henderson, Leslie Farr, Cassidy Wrenn, Abby Chandler and Maggie Campbell. Two nephews, Kirk Campbell and Alex Morrell. Four great-nephews Austin Maloney, Dylan Walthall, Ben Henderson and Luke Henderson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 pm at Westwood Baptist Church, 970 Leasburg Rd Roxboro, NC 27573. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6pm to 7:30pm at Westwood Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Austin Maloney, Tim Harris, Brent Rimmer, Tommy Lawrence, Rodney Campbell, Jeremy Clayton, Terry Wright, and Gar DeHoog. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill’s nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews

Michael Wayne Bowes

Michael Wayne Bowes, age 60, of Roxboro died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his home. Born in Person County to the late Early P. Bowes and Mildred W. Bowes. He is preceded in death by one sister, Tina Tuck. Mr. Bowes retired from Progress Energy and loved his work family. He also enjoyed fishing, Nascar, family time, cooking stews, and being a "Grand Papa."
Surviving are his children: Christie B. Powell (Tim), Melanie B. Crumpton (Rodney), and Jeremy M. Bowes; one sister, Brenda Whitt; one brother, Preston Bowes; eight grandchildren:Charles Bowes, Kevin Powell, Brooke Powell, Briana Walker, Baylee Crumpton, Cassie Bowes, Annie Bowes, and Holden "Scudda Bug" Bowes.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service 1:00-2:00 PM Friday, July 24, 2015 in the Brooks & White Chapel. The family will also receive friends at Melanie & Rodney Crumpton's home (2383 Leasburg Road, Roxboro, NC 27574).
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Karl Neuschaefer.

Janet Pope Blalock

Janet Pope Blalock, 79, of 300 Hugh Blalock Rd., died peacefully at her home Tuesday, September 1, 2015. She was born in Wake County to the late J. G. Pope and Mary Tilley Pope. Janet was wife of the late Hugh G. Blalock, Jr.
She was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church and she enjoyed visiting elderly members of the Roxboro community with her many church friends. Janet also loved to spend time in her garden and tending to her beautiful flowers. Grandma Janet enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren and showering them with gifts and love.
She was also a member of the Roxboro Garden Club. Janet worked 34 years as administrative assistant for Senator R. C. Soles, Jr. in the NC State Legislature.
Mrs. Blalock is survived by two sons, Stephen H. Puryear and wife Barbara, of Keystone Heights, FL and Mark D. Puryear and wife Deanne, of Raleigh; and a step daughter, Kathy Casey and husband David, of Raleigh; one sister, Joyce Stuart and husband Ricky, of Fuquay-Varina; one brother, David Pope and wife Belinda, of Pinehurst; and grandchildren, Stephanie, Connor, Colby, Zachary, Bailey, and Erin.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, September 4, 2015 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Rougemont by the Rev. Barry Chambers. Visitation will be held from 1-2 PM Friday prior to the service. Graveside services will be held 11AM Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Wake Chapel Cemetery in Fuquay-Varina by Pastor Steve Ellis.
