Mary Ruth Wilkerson

Mary Ruth Wilkerson, age 74, died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Duke Community Hospice. Born in Durham County, Mrs. Wilkerson was the daughter of the late John Wiley and Eddie Myrtle Teasley Jacobs. Mrs. Wilkerson was a homemaker and a member of Ferrell Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by two children, Susan Diane Tripp and Michael D. Cash, one brother, John C. Jacobs and one sister, Annie Joyce Ellis.
Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by her husband Robert Wilkerson; one son, Kent Cash and wife Denise, of Timberlake; one step-daughter, Sonja Medlin, of Durham; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11AM Wednesday at the Little River Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Dr. M. David Chambers. The family will receive friends at the home of Kent Cash, 45 Log Home Rd., Timberlake.

Nancy Richardson Meadows

Died: 03/20/2009 and resided in Timberlake, NC
Nancy Richardson Meadows, 70, of 41 Oak Hollow Rd., died Friday, March 20, 2009, at Durham Regional Hospital. Born in Durham County, Mrs. Meadows was the daughter of the late Douglas and Lucille Brinkley Richardson. Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker and she attended Berry’s Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Meadows is survived by her husband Johnny Tresley Meadows; two daughters, Cindy McCullough, of Timberlake and Vicky Yeingst, of Cary; three grandchildren, Ashley McCullough, Heather McCullough and Cynthia Wood. Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Robinson.
Graveside services will be held 11AM Monday at Berry’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Craig Willingham. The family will receive friends 10-11AM Monday at Berry’s Grove Baptist Church prior to the service and at other times at the home.
Olivia Allen

Olivia Allen, resident of The Glenaire Retirement Community died March 19, 2009.
She was born November 13, 1924 and was the daughter of James Rufus and Ida Wilkerson Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only daughter, Olivia Garrett Allen. Her childhood was spent in Person County, graduating from Roxboro High School. She attended Peace College, Raleigh, NC. For several years, she worked for the Selective Service Board and at Peoples Bank, Roxboro, NC.
She married Lewis M. Allen, March 19, 1949. They lived in Pittsburgh, PA, Birmingham, AL, Baton Rouge, LA, Charlotte, NC, and Monroe, NC while her husband worked in Sales and Sales Management for Harbison-Walker Refractories, Pittsburgh, PA.
In 2003, she and her husband moved to the Glenaire Retirement Community, Cary, NC.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a sister, Sallie Garrett Wilson, Frankfort, IN, nephew Lewis Wilson, Danville, IN, nieces Betty Shatzer, Baltimore, MD, and Pet Garrett Spears, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Mary R. Wilson

Mary R. Wilson, 87, of Allie Clay Rd., died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center. Born in Cherokee, NC, Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Matthew and Lavasta Beavers Rowland and wife of the late Voit Wilson. Mrs. Wilson worked at D & J Upholstery for over 30 years and attended McGhee’s Mill Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Phillips and her brothers, Ray Rowland, Hoyt Rowland and Dale Rowland.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by four sons, Doyle Wilson, Troy Wilson, Kenny Wilson and Donnie Wilson, all of Roxboro; four daughters, Gwinda Maddox, Edith Derreberry, Judy Waycaster, all of Georgia and Kathy McGwinn, of Fletcher; one sister, Betty Kate Cocker, of Murphy; three brothers, Alvin Rowland and Clinton Rowland, both of Murphy and Robert Rowland, of Georgia; twenty-three grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM Friday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Doyle Wilson, 2025 Mill Creek Rd., Roxboro. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Andrews, NC.

Robin English Hughes

Died: 03/16/2009 and resided in Durham, NC
Robin Anne English Hughes age 51 of 208 Elizabeth Street died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Durham Regional Hospital. She was born in Campbell County, Virginia. Robin is preceded in death by her father, Glenn Conrad English and her sister, Lisa Glenn English. She was of the Methodist faith. Robin graduated from Western Guilford High School and was a former employee of AT & T.
Surviving are her mother, Sandra Saunders of Moneta, VA, her two children, Caleigh Jayne Hughes and Casey Jake Hughes both of South Boston, Virginia; and her brother James English and his wife, Michelle of Savannah, GA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Rougemont United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Wagner and Carolyn Schuldt officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the Rougemont United Methodist Church.

Mable Puryear Gravitte

Mable Puryear Gravitte, 103, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Person Memorial Hospital. Born in Virgilina, VA, Mrs. Gravitte was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Susie Tillotson Puryear and wife of the late Bob Gravitte. Mrs. Gravitte was a homemaker and a member of Union Christian Church. Mrs. Gravitte was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Culver, Austin, Alver, and Peyton and her sisters, Vera Slagle and Vivian Collier.
Mrs. Gravitte is survived by her daughters, Dorothy G. Clack Yarboro and Mildred Clack, both of Roxboro; one sister, Edith P. Atkins, of Virgilina, VA; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Pulliam and the Rev. James Fortner. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10-11AM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Chapel prior to the services and at other times at the home of Dorothy G. Clack Yarboro, 535 Ca-Vel Chub Lake Rd., Roxboro.

Nicholas Shane Williams

Nicholas Shane Williams, age 28, of 3001 Trail Wood Pines, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his home. He was born in Person County. He was employed as an HVAC worker.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Kimberly Rocha and Ricardo Rocha, his wife, Shylemu Jones Williams, two children, Nicholas Alexander Williams and Solomon Ezequiel Williams of the home, his grandmother, Shirley Rutledge, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Sherry Jones, two sisters-in-law Ayisha Jones and Priscilla Jones, one brother-in-law Omarius Jones, Steve and Donna Rutledge, of Timberlake.
A memorial service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at the Brooks & White Chapel by Rev. Cora Jones McDowell. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Rutledge and Joshua Rutledge.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 PM at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.
