Carolyn Denny Perkins age 70 of 974 Halifax Road died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Duke Medical Hospital. She was born in Person County to the late Rufus Spurgeon Denny and Annie Pearl Canada "Peachie" Denny. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Radford "L.R." Perkins, and her brother, Ike Denny. She was a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Perkins was retired from Eaton Corporation with 35 years employment. She loved everyone.
Surviving are her son, Marty Perkins and wife Johnsie of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Anna Perkins Strader and husband Drew, and Shane Daniel Perkins and wife Amanda; three great grandchildren, Levi Strader, Emmie Strader, and Alayna Perkins; two brothers, Danny Spurgeon Denny of Timberlake; Johnny T. Denny of Roxboro; and one sister, Patricia Darlene O'Brien of Roxboro.
The family will receive friends 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Monday, January 7, 2013 at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at her home. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis McDonald and the Rev. Hal Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Denny, Kevin Denny, Scot Brooks, Denny Long, Keith Denny, and Curtis Chandler.

Monica Fay Blalock Day

Monica Fay Blalock Day, 35, of 6383 Mt. Harmony Church Road, Rougemont, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Born in Durtham County, Mrs. Day was the daughter of the late James Edward Blalock and Brenda Lynch Biggins and husband Gerry, who survives. Mrs. Day was a certified nursing assistant and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John Robert and Mabel Blalock.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Day is survived by her husband, Carlton Day; her daughter, Monica Kristen Day, of the home; her sister, Melissa Shelton and husband Joey; her maternal grandparents, Billy and Kay Lynch.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, January 14, 2013, at Bethany Baptist Church by the Rev. Brian Hager. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM, Sunday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be C.W. Bradsher, Wade Bradsher, Gray Bradsher, Eddie Vaughan, David Harris, and Gene Everette.
Reece Price Harry, Jr.

Died: 01/09/2013 and resided in Roxboro, NC
Reece Price Harry, Jr., 87, of 1976 Rolling Hills Rd., died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his daughter's home. Born in Guilford County, Mr. Harry was the son of the late Reece Price and Edna Davis Harry and wife of the late Pattie Roy Harry. Mr. Harry attended Duke University where he played football. Mr. Harry served in the US Navy during WWII.
Mr. Harry is survived by his daughter, Linda Harris and husband John, of Roxboro; his son, David Harry and wife Christine, of Raleigh; his grandson, John Price and wife Meredith; his special extended family, Linda and Howard McIntyre; his loving caregiver, Phyllis Mitchell.
No services are planned at this time.

Opal Norris Mast

Opal Norris Mast, 97, of 1324 Blackard Road died Tuesday, June 9, 2015. She was born in Watauga County and was the daughter of the late Virgil and Julia Norris. Mrs. Mast was also preceded in death by her husband, Olus Alton Mast. She was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving is one son, Greg Mast and wife Keitha, of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Molly Mast, of Durham and Jonathan Mast, of Dunwoody, GA; and her caregivers, Kathy Clayton and Mary Oakley.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Comer Ashworth Barrett

Comer Ashworth Barrett, age 91, of 177 Anderbrock Drive, died Monday, June 1, 2015 peacefully at her home. She was the daughter of the late Green Clay Ashworth and Ida Powell. Mrs. Barrett is predeceased by her husband Jim Barrett, ten siblings, and one son-in-law Raymond "Bud" Cobb. She was a secretary for Person Tractor Company, which was her husband Jim's business and later a bookkeeper for Hyco Warehouse. Mrs. Barrett was an active member of Roxboro Presbyterian Church for numerous years where she served as a children's Sunday school teacher, member of the choir, and she was a longtime member and treasurer for many years of the Roxboro Presbyterian Church friendship circle.
Surviving are her daughters: Pat Barrett Cobb, and friend Mat Wrenn, of Roxboro; and Angie Wilson, and husband Sam, Sr., of Hillsborough; two grandchildren: Sam Wilson II, of Wilmington and Ashlan Wilson, of Hillsborough; one sister: Cleo A. Barrett, of Roxboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Rites will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Burchwood Cemetery by the Rev. Evan Walker. The family will receive friends at other times at the home.

Betty Jean Harris Talley Clack

Betty Jean Harris Talley Clack, 81, of 181 Henderson Rd., Roxboro, died Monday, May 18, 2015. Born in Person County, Mrs. Clack was the daughter of the late Lem and Mallie Oakley Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elmo Talley, Sr., her son, Robert Elmo Talley, Jr., and her siblings, Rachel Long, Pearl Davis and Frank Harris. Mrs. Clack was a retired inspector with a glass company and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She taught crocheting at the Vance County Senior Center. Mrs. Clack loved going to and helping with many horse shows and she also loved to travel with her husband.
Mrs. Clack is survived by her husband, Charles Clack; four children, Deborah Bibee and Gary Dean Talley, both of Henderson, Mitchell Gene Talley, of Roxboro and Gregory Lynn Talley, of Henderson; one brother, Benjamin Harris and wife Myrtle, of Hurdle Mills; one sister, Janette Clark and husband Tucker, of Roxboro; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 12 PM Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Elder Tommy Ball. Visitation will be held 11-12 PM Thursday at the Brooks & White Chapel prior to the service and at other times at the home of her sister Janette Clark, 56 Mill Creek Rd.
