James Bernard "Buddy" Henderson, 79, of 2021 Virgilina Rd, Roxboro, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at Person Memorial Hospital. Born April 1, 1936 in Halifax County, VA, Mr. Henderson was the son of the late James Arthur and Lottie Bell Harrison Henderson. Buddy was a retired mechanic and a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Louise Wood.
Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife of 59 years, McGruder Bagby Henderson; two daughters, Ann Tuttle and husband Wes, of Wilkesboro and Kay Melton and husband Barry, of Roxboro; one brother, Robert Hugh Henderson and wife Betty, of Roxboro; three grandchildren, Autumn Johnson, of Roaring River, Tyler Tuttle, of Sevierville, TN, and Grayson Tuttle, of Wilkesboro; two great-grandchildren, Austin Johnson and Trevor Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Carol Bracett, Rev. Vernon Wilkerson, and Rev. Tim Henderson. Interment will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11:00-11:45, prior to the service at Brooks and White Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Lawrence Ray "Gus" Holeman

Lawrence Ray "Gus" Holeman, 91, of 412 W. Gordon Street, Roxboro, died Thursday, May 21, 2015.
Born in Person County, Mr. Holeman was the son of the late Coy Roundtree and Sarah Elizabeth Moore Holeman. Mr. Holeman served in the US Air Force during WWII and was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Holeman was a retired tobacco buyer having worked with Veneable Brothers Tobacco Co and Dibrell Brothers Tobacco Co. He was the past president of the Piedmont Tobacco Memorabilia Collectors Club.
Mr. Holeman is survived by his wife, Mary Winder Holeman; three sons, James Bryan Holeman and wife Bobbie of Roxboro, Lawrence R. Holeman II, of Semora and Jay Winder Holeman and wife Lisa, of Pilot Mountain; one sister, Libby Holeman Nichols and husband Ed, of Roxboro; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In keeping with the requests of Mr. Holeman he will be cremated with no service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
A private graveside service will be conducted at a later date.
Stacy Gentry Howard

Stacy Ninette Gentry Howard, 42, of Creedmoor, died Monday, November 10, 2014. Born in Durham County. Mrs. Howard was the daughter of Phil Mangum and Margie Gentry, both of Roxboro. Mrs. Howard was in the medical field and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mabel Gentry Latta and Claude "Dick" Gentry and her paternal grandmother, Frances Mangum.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, Brian Howard of the home; one daughter, Savannah Jones, of Durham; two step-sons, Noah Howard and Wesley Howard, of Creedmoor; her twin sister, Stephanie Gentry, of Roxboro; her mother and father-in-law, Tommy and Barbara Howard, of Durham; her brother-in-law, Mark Howard, of Durham; her beloved cat Rah-Rah; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown and the Rev. James Fortner. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at 146 Joy Ln., Roxboro.

Kathy Darlene Pendleton Davis

Kathy Pendleton Davis, 62 of 3600 Oxford Road, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at Person Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Pittsylvania County, Va., daughter of the late Wilson & Elna Bolling Pendleton of Danville, Va. Mrs. Davis was a Paralegal and of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are her husband Ronnie Davis of Rougemont; her daughter Kristin Davis & Charles of Asheville; her son Austin Davis & Faye of Timberlake; her sister Vicky Matherly of Danville, Va.
Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Lewis Daniel (Dan) Winstead Jr.

Died: 01/15/2013 and resided in Roxboro, NC
Lewis Daniel (Dan) Winstead, Jr., born March 21, 1930 and passed away January 15, 2013 at the Roxboro Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Dan fought a courageous battle for 15 years with Parkinson's disease. Dan also won a battle with pneumonia in 2011. Dan was strong. Dan was a Marine in the Korean War. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Roxboro Presbyterian Church. Dan enjoyed the country, the beach, and traveling abroad with his wife and family. He lived his dream by being with his family. Dan was a tobacconist and real estate entrepreneur. He was best known as a loving family man who loved his family before himself.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda Wagstaff Winstead; his children, Iva Lee Winstead Forehand and Bryant, of Durham, Lewis Daniel (Danny) Winstead, III and Tammy, Thomas (Tommy) Devenport Winstead and Amy, Amy Winstead Henderson and Tyler, and Mia Winstead Price and Mike, all of Roxboro; his sisters, Jane Winstead, of Greensboro and Bernadine Warner and Charles, of Savannah, GA; his brother, Isaac (Butch) Winstead and Hilda, of Roxboro; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jessie Winstead Jones.
Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Brooks & White Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Warren's Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Philip Chryst and the Rev. Karl Neuschaffer. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery. Following the services, a reception will be held at the Perfect Venue.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lewis Daniel Winstead, IV, Daniel Austin Winstead, Jon Dexter Evans, Collin Thomas Winstead, Trevor Morris Winstead, Gavin Wade Price, and T. Blane Henderson.

Joyce Clayton Dunevant

Joyce Clayton Dunevant, 68, of 966 C.C. Andrews Rd., Timberlake, died Sunday, January 6, 2013. Born in Newport News, VA, Mrs. Dunevant was the daughter of the late Odie and Lizzie Russell Clayton and wife of the late Wayne Dunevant. Mrs. Dunevant was a beautician and a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
Mrs. Dunevant is survived by her daughter, Michelle Dunevant, of Hurdle Mills; her brother, Sheldon Clayton and wife Julie, of Roxboro; her aunt, Clessie Thomas, of Oxford; two nieces, three great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Graveside rites will be held 11AM, Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery by the Pastor Gayla Collins. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM, Tuesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her brother at 4790 Oxford Rd.
