Diane Phelps Harris, 66, of 7212 Perry Circle, Raleigh, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Born in Person County, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Mac Phelps. She was also preceded in death by her son, Troy Fuller and her granddaughter, Samantha Fuller. Mrs. Harris was an accountant.
Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband, Lee Harris; her mother, Inez Rogers Phelps, of Roxboro; two sons, Kyle Fuller and Guy Fuller, both of Roxboro; one sister, Karen Stuart, of Wake Forest; four grandchildren, Brooke Fuller, Madison Fuller, Tracie Fuller and Lucas Fuller.
Memorial services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Alfred Snipes. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM, Sunday, at the Brooks & White Chapel prior to the service and at other times at the home of Inez Phelps, 210 Patterson Dr., Roxboro. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Walter (Bud) Anthony Kerr

Died: 09/11/2012
Walter (Bud) Anthony Kerr, age 90, passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Person Memorial Hospital.
A native of Bristol, RI, he was the son of the late Walter Patrick and Maria Martin Kerr. He was predeceased by three sisters; Ruth K. Parella, Edith K. Anderson, and Jean K. Magee.
Bud began his business career working at Collins & Aikman. During this time, his studies at Rhode Island School of Design were interrupted when he served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
After thirty-five years with Collins & Aikman in Roxboro, Bud retired from his position as Division President and began a second career as an investment officer and financial consultant at Wheat First Butcher Singer.
Bud was a graduate of the Executive Program of UNC Business School.
He was a faithful member of Saints Mary and Edward Catholic Church where he served for a number of years as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
During a 20 year tenure on the Board of Person Memorial Hospital, Bud served as Board Chairman and Finance Chairman.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Lancaster Kerr; a daughter, Elizabeth Kerr Dunlop of London UK; a son, Anthony Kerr and wife Mitzi of Roxboro; a granddaughter, Kelly Kerr; a sister Joanne K. Zech of Fairfax, VA; a brother, Norman Kerr and wife, Melinda of Pensacola, FL; a stepdaughter, Diana Stovall and husband, Gil of Roxboro; a stepson, Brett Wilkins of New Port Richie, FL; and four step-grandchildren; Gabe Snow, Mary Margaret Stovall, Julia Stovall, and Joseph Stovall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saints Mary and Edward Catholic Church, 611 N. Main Street, Roxboro NC 27573.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Roy Woodrow (Buddy) Hall

Died: 09/11/2012 and resided in Roxboro, NC
Roy Woodrow (Buddy) Hall, 69, of 210 Peachtree St., Roxboro, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Born in Halifax County, VA, Rev. Hall was the son of the late Woodrow and Sally Henries Hall. Mr. Hall was hired by the City of Roxboro as a firefighter on December 2, 1964 and he retired as Chief in 1997. He later became the pastor of Triple Springs Baptist Church for 17 years. In February 2009 and until his death, he was the pastor of Beulah Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and also did gold leaf lettering for many of the local fire departments. Rev. Hall was a pianist for several southern gospel quartets.
Rev. Hall is survived by his wife, Peggy Chambers Hall; two children and their spouses, Tammy Hall and Nick Briggs, of Goode, VA and Charles (Chuck) N. and Tracie Black Hall, of Julian; three sisters, Virginia Haun, Ruth Long, and Judy Clayton, all of Roxboro; six grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Allison Briggs, Rebekah Briggs, Trey Briggs, Blythe Hall and Preston Hall.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Friday, September 14, 2012, at Roxboro Baptist Church by the Dr. DuPre Sanders, the Dr. Ben Gault, and the Rev. Lewis Wall. Burial will follow in the Chambers Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 PM until, on Thursday at Roxboro Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be members of the Roxboro Fire Department.

Curtis Reed Shouff

Curtis Reed Shouff 74 of the Brian Center of Yanceyville died Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Born in Patrick County, VA., son of the late Robert Ross & Hattie Mae Clark Shouff. Mr. Shouff was a retired farmer and a member of Clement Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters Pamela Shouff Humphries of Roxboro, Teresa Shouff of Hurdle Mills, one sister Edna Jean Rudder of Hurdle Mills, one granddaughter Nickie Renee Humphries of Roxboro.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Dalled Mae Horton

Dalled Mae Horton 84 of 7000 Hurdle Mills Road, died Tuesday December 4, 2012 at her home. Born in Person County daughter of the late William Boyd & Zelia Whitfield Horton. She was graduate of Hurdle Mills High School and retired from Liggett-Myers Tobacco Company. Miss Horton was an avid DUKE fan and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church & Clement Baptist Church.
Surviving are one brother Russell Horton & wife Joan of Hurdle Mills, two special nieces Betsy Crews of Hurdle Mills, Patricia Brown of Rougemont, one special nephew Anthony Horton of Hurdle Mills, three nieces & one nephew also survive.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday December 6, 2012 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Donald Daniel. Interment will follow at a later date in Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday December 6, 2012 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and other times at the home.

Carol Anne O'Donnell McMullen

Carol Anne O'Donnell McMullen, 77, of 1576 Berryhill Rd., Roxboro, died Monday, December 24, 2012. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. McMullen was the daughter of the late Joseph Gerald and Annie Susan Lockheart O'Donnell, wife of the late Donald Henry McMullen and mother of the late Joe McMullen. Mrs. McMullen served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force and was one of the first of ten women to be trained as an air traffic controller. She was a member of Sts. Mary & Edward Catholic Church where she previously served as secretary of the women's club. Mrs. McMullen was a major volunteer for the Avila Retreat Center in Durham.
Mrs. McMullen is survived by her children, Don McMullen, of Fincastle, VA, Anne McMullen, of Augusta, GA, David McMullen, of South Dakota, Laura Wilkins, of Charlotte, John McMullen, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Mary Smith and Richard McMullen, both of Roxboro; her sister, Kathy Wood, of Rising Sun, MD; her sister-in-law, Carol O'Donnell, of Amissville, VA; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held 11AM, Friday, December 28, 2012, at Sts. Mary & Edward Catholic Church by the Father William H. Rodriguez. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7 PM to 8:30 PM, Thursday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mary Smith, 216 Reams Ave.
