Robert Wright Woody, Jr., 76, of Little River Church Rd., Hurdle Mills, died Friday, August 10, 2012. Born in Person County, Mr. Woody was the son of the late Robert Wright and Ida Walker Woody. He was married to the love of his life, Ruby Shotwell Woody, for over 36 years. He later remarried Judy Parker Woody, who is also deceased. He retired from IBM and was an avid hunter and runner. Mr. Woody was a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Mr. Woody is survived by his son, Russell Edward Woody, and wife Tina, of Hurdle Mills; three brothers, George R. "Rudy" Woody, of Durham, James P. "Jim" Woody and John R. "Randy" Woody, both of Bahama; two sisters, Joan Wade and Pamela Jo Woody, both of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Taylor Nicole Woody and Colton Russell Woody.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Dennis McDonald. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM, Monday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Colton Woody, Rudy Woody, Jim Woody, Randy Woody, Donald Wade, Ronnie Dicara, Sr., Matt Wade, Adam Woody and Tyler Wade.

Sue Rhodes Gentry

Sue Rhodes Gentry, 53, of 1244 Gentry Ridge Rd., Roxboro, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Born in Person County, Mrs. Gentry was the daughter of the late Dallas A. and Marion James Rhodes. Mrs. Gentry was a secretary in the medical field and was a member of Allensville United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved nature and flowers.
Graveside servcies will be held 3 PM Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Allensville United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Jack Ruth. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Mrs. Gentry is survived by her husband, Belvin Robert Gentry, Sr.; two children, Fran Gentry Wilborn and husband Josh and Belvin Robert "Robbie" Gentry, Jr., all of Roxboro; two brothers, Dallas Rhodes, Jr., of Roxboro and James Rhodes and wife Angie, of Rougemont; two grandchildren, Jayden Wilborn and Jacob Gentry; her niece, Amanda Rhodes; and her faithful companion Sully.

Thomas Eugene "Cozy" Cozart Sr.

Thomas Eugene "Cozy" Cozart, Sr. age 82 of 212 Crest Dr.Mt. Olive, NC, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. He was born in Person County to the late Linnie Thomas Cozart and Flora Smart Cozart . Mr. Cozart was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alyce Chisholm Cozart and his daughter Kerri Allyson Cozart. He was a Navy veteran having served his country during peacetime after World War II. Mr. Cozart was a retired salesman. He lived in Mt. Olive for the past 26 years and was a member of Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church in Mt. Olive.
Surviving is his present wife Lee Brandon Cozart of the home, his two sons, Thomas Eugene (Tommy) Cozart, Jr. and wife Penny of Roxboro, and Guy Cozart of Yulee, Fl.; one step-son, Hart Pittard of Cary, two step-daughters, Lee Anne Hill and husband, Dexter of Deep Run, and Lisa Niemond and husband, Doug of Mt. Olive; Seven grandchildren, Brandon Pittard, Jessica Pittard, Jaimie Niemond, Doogie Niemond, David Hill, Melissa Hill and Natalie Cozart; one brother Dan Cozart and wife, Nora of Tyler, Tx.
The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Brooks and White Chapel with the Rev. Steven Wicks and the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Burchwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Woody Garrett, Ronnie Garrett, R.B. Tingen, Doogie Niemond, David Hill, and Hart Pittard.
The visitation will be 1 PM to 2 PM Saturday prior to the service and other times at the home of his son, 3625 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC.

James Woody Rickmond

James Woody Rickmond, age 65, of 362 Jones Store Rd., died Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Born in Halifax County, VA, he was the son of the late Luther and Katie Phillips Rickman. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Rickman, and two sisters, Mary Cross and Shirley Wilson. Mr. Rickmond had worked as a plumber for many years. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Ann Long Rickmond of the home; one son, Jamie Rickmond of Roxboro; two sisters, Ellen Spencer of Roxboro and Ruby Long of Timberlake; one granddaughter, Kimberly Rickmond of Roxboro; two step-grandsons, Keith Clayton and Bobby Clayton, both of Roxboro.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Herman Chambers and the Rev. Joel Bradsher. Burial will follow at Long/Whitfield Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robbie Long, Benji Long, Billy Long, Sherman Donovan, Luther Dixon, and Chris Howerton.

Dorothy Ann Clayton Painter, age 75, of Roxboro, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Mary Beaver Clayton and wife of the late Edward Louis Painter. Mrs. Painter had worked at C&A; in Roxboro for many years. She was a long-time active member of Somerset Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Long and husband Bill of Timberlake; one son, Marshall Painter and wife Vivian of Semora; one brother, Jerry Clayton of Rougemont; one sister, Katie McAdams and husband Buddy of Mebane; two grandchildren, Sonja Larry and Lisa Elliott; two great-grandchildren, Lee Smith and Kaitlyn Elliott.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Somerset Baptist Church by the Rev. Troy Rust. Burial will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be designated members of Somerset Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:45 to 11:45 AM on Friday prior to the service at Somerset Baptist Church and other times at the home of Mary Ann and Bill Long at 7133 Oxford Rd., Timberlake.

Flint Talmadge Oakley, 90, of 280 Robert Ladd Rd., Rougemont, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012. Born in Person County, Mr. Oakley was the son of the late Sam Robert and Cora Evans Oakley and husband of the late Stella Davis Oakley and he was preceded in death by one son Clarence Winfred Oakley, two brothers Pete & Dewey Oakley, three sisters Eva Weaver, Velma Weaver & Ola Maude Oakley Mr. Oakley was a retired farmer and security guard and he attended Surl Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Oakley is survived by his children, Talmadge Oakley, of Rougemont, Jean Clayton & husband Bunnie, of Hurdle Mills, Bobby Oakley & wife Stephanie, Fred Oakley and Doris Adcock, all of Rougemont; his brother, Robert Lee Oakley, of Rougemont; five grandchildren, Tammy O. Miller, Tommy R. Oakley, Jason E. Clayton, Jenise C. Brann & Tracy E. Adcock, eight great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren & six step-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday August 9, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Donald Harris. Interment will follow in Surl Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday August 8, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home.
