Pamela Jo Woody age 55 of 901 Ridge Road died Tuesday morning. She was born in Person County to the late Robert Wright Woody and Ida Vivian Walker Woody. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Woody.
Surviving are her sister, Joan W. Wade of Roxboro, three brothers, Rudy Woody of Bahama, Jimmy Woody of Timberlake, and Randy Woody of Bahama.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church. A memorial service will beheld 11:00 AM Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis McDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Providence Cemetery.

William (Bill) Stadler Day

William Stadler (Bill) Day age 90 formerly of 618 Frank Street died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the Roxboro Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Person County to the late Lee Andrews Day and Eunettie Clayton Day. Mr. Day was preceded in death by his son, Stadler Lane Day. He was a WWII Airforce Veteran having served in Italy. Mr. Day was a Tobacconist.
Surviving are his wife, Getsy Solomon Day of the home, one daughter, Gloria Day Davis and husband Vern of Roxboro; two grandchildren, Brent Davis (wife Shannon) and Beth Gillis (husband Phillip); four great grandchildren, Darby Gillis, Hayes Davis, Jack Gillis and Allie Davis; three sisters, Atha Clayton, Helen Lunsford, and Peggy Jeffries all of Roxboro.
The family will receive friends 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Monday, August 20, 2012 at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Elder David Minter officiating. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Malcus Day, Billy Day, Keith Solomon and Brent Davis.
Harry Glenn (Stony) Stonbraker

Died: 08/19/2012 and resided in Roxboro, North Carolina
Harry Glenn (Stony) Stonbraker age 87 of 900 Younger Road died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at his home. He was born in Dayton, PA, and was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Emily Moore Stonbraker, his parents, Carl J. Stonbraker and Mabel McHenry Stonbraker, four brothers, Paul, Carl, George, and Kenneth Stonbraker, two sisters, Louise Livengood and Helen Selby. He graduated from Dayton High School in Dayton, PA. Stony was a World War II Navy Veteran having served from 1943 to 1949. During part of his service he was a medic in the Pacific on the USS Hocking where he was able to demonstrate his care and compassion for others. He finished up his naval career on the USS North Carolina.
Stony, known as "Roxboro's Banker, " worked in banking for 35 years starting out at People's Bank and finishing his career at First Union. He was the "Voice of the Rockets" for 25 years and also loved coaching youth sports and was instrumental in facilitating the establishment of the Midget League in Person County. Stony was always looking for ways to serve others and help those in need. He was a County Commissioner for 16 years, Red Cross Volunteer for 40 years, Person Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees for 24 years, Lion's Club member and was instrumental in the Person County Museum start-up project- just to name a few of his accomplishments. Mr. Stonbraker was a recipient of the Order of the Longleaf Pine Award given by the governor of NC for his numerous achievements. One of his biggest claims to fame was that he always said, "I never shake hands with a beautiful woman, " and he would then proceed to give them a kiss instead. No one ever left his presence without a smile.
Surviving are his two daughters, Glenda Stovall and husband Bob, Maxine Galloway and husband Mark of Roxboro, NC his son Carl Stonbraker and wife Judy of Newton, NC, seven grandchildren, William Crabtree, Carla Hutchins, Glen, Gil, and Alan Stovall, Carl J. and Blake Stonbraker, eight great grandchildren, Haylee and Hannah Hutchins, Anniston, Mary Margaret, Julia, Joseph, Nate, and Maddie Stovall, three sisters, Maxine Novak of Richmond, VA, , Joanne Fox of Dayton, PA, Elizabeth Grau of Cleveland, Ohio, and one brother, John Stonbraker of Denver, CO.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2012, prior to the funeral service at Long Memorial United Methodist Church, and other times at the home on 900 Younger Road, Roxboro, NC. The memorial service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Long Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Allen and Mr. Rick Stonbraker officiating. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery with military rites. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Crabtree, Glenn, Gil, and Alan Stovall, Carl J. and Blake Stonbraker, and Roger Hutchins.

Gladys Mae Wilbourne Dunn

Gladys Mae Wilbourne Dunn, 85, of the Brian Center, Yanceyville, formerly of 265 Shady Hill Circle, Roxboro, died Thursday, August 16, 2012. Born in Mecklenburg County, VA, Mrs. Dunn was the daughter of the late Roby Richard and Annie Bell Thomas Wilbourne and wife of the late Percy A. Dunn. Mrs. Dunn was a homemaker and she was preceded in death by her sons, Infant Dunn, Curtis Dunn, Charles Dunn, Kenny Dunn, Emanuel Dunn and Alvin Dunn.
Mrs. Dunn is survived by her daughter, Ruby Sue Dunn.
Funeral services, 2 PM, Monday, August 20, 2012 at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. John Pritchard. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 PM
Pallbearers will be Ted Wilbourne, Mark Wilbourne, Markie Wilbourne, Danny Blume, Richard Wilbourne and Danny Martin Blume.

Sidney Thomas Hatchell, 81, of 5233 Ralph Winstead Rd., Leasburg, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro. Born in Richland County, SC, Mr. Hatchell was the son of the late Ollen Herbert and Eva Mae Crowder Hatchell in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Billy Wilson, two brothers William Hatchell & James Hatchell, two sisters Mardenia Sharpe & Naomi Franny. Mr. Hatchell retired from Loxcreen as plant manager and was a member of Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Hatchell is survived by his wife, Clyde Dale Merritt Hatchell of the home; three children, Jeannie Crisp, of Roxboro, Jimmy Charles Wilson, of Leasburg, and Rebecca Ann Dunkley, of Hurdle Mills; one brother Richard Leroy Hatchell, of Elgin, SC; one sister Margaret Register, of Adell, GA., eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren & two great-great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 17, 2012, at Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Thomas. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Thursday at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home

Dorothy Mae Castleberry Howerton age 74 formerly of 204 Tom Oakley Road died Tuesday afternoon, August 14, 2012 at the Rose Manor Health Care Center of Durham.
She was born in Wake County to the late Jessie Lee Castleberry and Clara Smith Castleberry and wife of the late George Thomas Howerton. Mrs. Howerton was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are her son, Paul McGhee, two grandchildren, Ashley and Amy; and four brothers, Ralph Bill Stewart, William Earl Stewart, W.C. Ransdell, and Franklin D. Ransdell.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Pam Watkins will be officiating. The family will receive friends after the graveside service.
