Elizabeth Yvonne Keys Bryan Jacobs, 72 of 190 Meadow Lane, died Tuesday April 24, 2012. Born in Franklin County Va., daughter of the late Herman Keys & the late Katie Staples Keys, in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Robert Earl Keys & J. C. Keys. Mrs. Jacobs retired as a Manger in the Food Service Industry and was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband Jimmy Jacobs, four children James H. Bryan of Axton, Va., Patricia "Patty" Anderson of St. James City, Fl., Martha Bryan Davis of Martinsville, Va., David Bryan of Leland, NC., one step-son Jimmy Lee Jacobs of Timberlake, two brothers Randy Keys of Martinsville, Va., Ray Keys of Bassett, Va., one sister Ann McAlevy of Bassett, Va., three grandchildren Erin Wilson, Joshua Bryan, Justin Bryan, six great-grandchildren, also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday April 26, 2012 at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday April 27, 2012 at Brooks & White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Hal Dickerson. Interment will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery.

Garland Jessie Weaver
Born: 01/18/1912 Person County, NC
Died: 04/23/2012 and resided in Roxboro, NC

Garland Jessie Weaver, 100, of 4984 Allensville Rd., Roxboro, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at his residence. Born in Person County, Mr. Weaver was the son of the late William M. and Minnie Brown Weaver and husband of the late Velma Oakley Weaver. Mr. Weaver was a retired farmer and tobacconist and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his son, William Elmo Weaver, two brothers, Lonnie J. Weaver and Joe T. Weaver and three sisters, Estelle W. Harris, Hattie W. Oakley and Minerva W. Brann.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his daughter, Barbara W. Suitt, of Roxboro; five grandchildren, Linda Weaver, Wanda W. Davis, Larry E. Weaver, Carol W. Carr and Michael J. Solomon; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home prior to the service

Pallbearers will be W. Ray "PeeWee" Harris, James Weaver, Alfred "Buck" Weaver, William Weaver, Bobby Brann, Coy W. Oakley.

Isla Willie "Billie" Crumpton Carver
Born: 12/19/1911 Person County, NC
Died: 04/22/2012 and resided in Roxboro, NC

Isla Willie "Billie" Crumpton Carver, 100, of 318 Old Durham Rd., Roxboro, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Roxboro Nursing Center in Roxboro. Born in Person County, Mrs. Carver was the daughter of the late Bayard Gaston and Georgia Anna Rogers Crumpton, the eldest of 10 children. She was married to the late Brooks R. Carver for 71 years. Mrs. Carver taught school in Wake County and then Person County for 25 years. After her sons were grown, she returned to work as a Person County Home Extension agent and eventually went back to the classroom where she taught home economics. She retired from teaching in 1972. She was a member of Brooksdale United Methodist Church holding numerous positions and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her son, William Bayard Carver.

Mrs. Carver is survived by her sons Charles Brooks Carver, of Chapel Hill, Thomas Berkley Carver and wife Esther, of Roxboro and George Bradsher Carver and wife Regina, of Durham; her brother, Jack Crumpton and wife Shirley, of Roxboro; three sisters, Nell Burch, of Roxboro, Marjorie Jones, of Fuquay Varina and Linda Oakley, of Colonial Heights, VA; her sister-in-law, Nancy Crumpton, of Roxboro; nine grandchildren, Amy Quinlan, Lynn Fahning, Susanne Duncan, Jon Carver, Thomas Carver, Jr., Ellen Sorrells, Laurie Hyland, Michelle Carver and David Carver; seventeen great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services, 10:30AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Brooksdale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Seong-Il Eom and Mrs. Cynthia Crumpton Wilson. Visitation will be held following the service with a catered lunch in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of Tommy Carver, 290 Brook-Car Dr., Roxboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brooksdale UMC, P.O. Box 614, Roxboro, NC, 27573.

Owen Lee Brann
Born: 05/04/1938 Person County, NC
Died: 04/19/2012 and resided in Roxboro,

Owen Lee Brann, age 73 of Roxboro, died Thursday, April 19, 2012. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Chestiny Morris Brann. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Day Brann, five sisters, Elvira Simpson, Chessie Brann, Anna Anicka, Ruby Harris, and Ray Sally, and two brothers, Ernest Brann and Clifton Brann. Mr. Brann was a veteran having served in Germany in the U.S. Army. He worked as a Crane Operator for 34 years. Mr. Brann also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include three brothers, Lenard Brann and wife Rosa of Roxboro, Reuben Brann of Gibsonville, and Cecil Brann of Roxboro.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Jason Holt. Burial will follow at Surl Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and from 1:00 PM Sunday and on at the home of his brother Cecil Brann at 77 Brann Ln. Roxboro, off of Gravitte Rd.

Memorials may be made Crossroads Baptist Church, 2728 Hurdle Mills Rd., Roxboro, NC 27574.

Barbara Ann Rule Emser
Born: 01/07/1940 Union Town, PA
Died: 04/18/2012 and resided in Roxboro,

Barbara Ann Rule Emser, age 72, of 1890 Blalock Dairy Rd., died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Born in Union Town, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Albert Rule and Frances Anna Myers Rule. Mrs. Emser had worked for Carolane Propane and Piedmont Community College as a secretary. She was a member of Saints Mary and Edward Catholic Church where she was a past president of the Ladies Guild.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Raymond Emser of the home; one daughter, Melissa Frances of the home; one son, Kenneth Joseph Emser of Clayton; devoted sister Diane Faye Lamb of Albany, Georgia; also a host of nieces and nephews in Georgia and Ohio; and their beloved Chihuahua, Pogo.

Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Saints Mary and Edward Catholic Church by the Father William Rodriguez. Burial will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dick Cramer, Neil Kirk, Landon Kirk, Bill Arel, Bob Pickard, and Neil Clayton. Honorary Pallbearer will be Eddie Dugal.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Saints Mary and Edward Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Person County Home Health and Hospice, 355A S. Madison Blvd., Roxboro, NC 27573, or Saints Mary and Edward Catholic Church, 615 N. Main St., Roxboro, NC 27573.

Vincent Westley Kenney
Born: 01/27/1923 Richmond County, NY
Died: 04/18/2012 and resided in Roxboro, NC

Vincent Westley Kenney, 89, of 303 Country Club Rd., Roxboro, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Born in Richmond County, NY, Mr. Kenney was the son of the late John and Emma Rommeh Kenney. Mr. Kenney served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Brooklyn, NY. He was an avid supporter of the NAFR and the DAV. He was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Ancker.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Kenney is survived by his daughters, Donna Newton, of Leasburg and Colleen Ellen Kenney, of Mytle Beach, SC; six grandchildren, Michelle Elizabeth Silvers, Colleen Bowes, Jonathan Newton, Jamie Newton, Cody Newton, and Stephen Newton; three great-grandchildren, Marcus Silvers, Kaleb Thomas and Lucas Bowes.
