Jack Leo Wensauer

Jack Leo Wensauer, 85, of 822 Frank Street died Wednesday, June 6, 2012. He was born in Shamrock, OK to the late Madge W. Cloud and Fred G. Wensauer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Wensauer.
Surviving are three daughters, Joella W. Rose, husband, Gary of Roxboro, Christie W. Poole, husband, Bernie of Roxboro; and Angie W. Cahoon, husband, Earl of Moseley, VA; six grandchildren, Blaine G. Rose, April D. Rose, Lindsay P. Winstead, Leanne P. Wilson, T. Landon Poole, and Nathan H. Cahoon; one sister, Rose Marie Keener.
The Wensauers moved to Roxboro in 1948 where he was a barber. He left the barbering business to go to work for Piedmont Technical Institute in 1970, where he was in Adult Continuing Education until 1982. Upon retiring, he renewed his barbering license and opened a shop at Robert's Service Mart formerly named Long Brother's Store at Bushy Fork. Jack was involved in many civic activities. He served 7 years as President of Red Cross, helped coach midget football and basketball and refereed midget and high school basketball. He was Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 279 East Roxboro, Asst. Scout Master and Explorer Advisor for Troop 49. Jack was previously a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and more recently Roxboro Bible Church. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship which was converted over to Business Men's Fellowship. Jack was also the past president of the Roxboro Gideon's International. He was a veteran of WWII serving two and a half years in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of 3rd class signalman.
The family will receive friends 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, June 8, 2012 at Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the Brooks & White Chapel with the Pastor Randy Stoner and the Rev. Don Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Blaine Rose, Earl Cahoon, Jacob Wilson, Landon Poole, and Nathan Cahoon. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hicks, Don Davis, Alan Stevens, Michael Parham, Buddy Bradsher and Milton Smith.
Memorials may be made to charity of one's choice.
Larry Perkins Daniel

Larry Perkins Daniel, 65, of 2056 Chub Lake Rd., Roxboro, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Born in Person County, Mr. Daniel is the son of the late Willis Jule and Lila Perkins Daniel. Mr. Daniel was a retired parts manager with the automobile industry and a member of Ca-Vel Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, Sunday School teacher, RA Leader, sound system operator and usher. He was also a former softball coach. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and two Purple Hearts. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Daniel is survived by his wife, Bonnie Clayton Daniel; his daughter, Shannon D. Tillman and husband William; his brother, Buddy Daniel; and his grandson, Jack William Tillman.
Graveside rites will be held 2 PM, Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Providence Cemetery by the Rev. Richard Long. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM, Friday, June 8, 2012 Ca-Vel Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Frank Shotwell, Hilton Hawkins, Brent Howerton, Jeremy Clayton, Zachary Clayton, and Mark Daniel.

Russell Scott Morris

Russell Scott Morris, age 40, of 4194 Virgilina Rd., died Sunday, April 29, 2012. Born in Selma, AL, he was the son of the late Andrew Edwin Morris and Elsie Oakley McClain who survives. Mr. Morris had worked as a Sr. Project Engineer at UC Synergetic. He was a member of member of Ca-Vel Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Charidy Davis Morris of the home; one daughter, Skyler Alise Morris also of the home; one brother, Alan E. Morris of Durham; one sister, Genise M. Fowler and husband Dave of Efland; one niece and two nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Ca-Vel Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Long. Burial will follow at Person Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 to 1:45 PM Wednesday at Ca-Vel Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Cothran "Cot" Murl Hamlet

Cothran "Cot" Murl Hamlet, 91 of Roxboro, died Friday April 28, 2012. Born in Campbell County, Va. son of the late Wirt Matow Hamlet & the late Paulette Johnson Hamlet, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Hazel Mitchell Hamlet. Mr. Hamlet was a US Air Force Veteran having served during W.W.II. He was a General Superintendent for George W. Kane for over forty years and a member of Brooksdale United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of over thirty years Hazeline Yarborough Hamlet of the home, one sister Christine Hamlet Cozart of Roxboro, one nephew Charles Pete Cozart & wife Julie Olson of Durham.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday April 29, 2012 at Brooksdale United Methodist Church by the Rev. Seong-II Eom. Interment will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM at the Church.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Pete Cozart, Kevin Clayton, Joey Cozart, Robert Brooks, Timmy Brooks & Mitchell Russell.

Ted Wayne Langford

Ted Wayne Langford, 50 of 131 Portia Lane died Friday April 27, 2012, suddenly. Born in Person County son of Tex Wayne Langford & Cookie Griffin Langford who survive. Mr. Langford was a Truck Driver for L. J. Rogers Trucking and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents is his Companion of twenty-two years Jeanine Gunter of the home, four children Brandy Wells of Clayton, Drema Taylor of Roxboro, Misty G. Brogden of Roxboro, Tim Gunter of Hurdle Mills, one brother Kenneth Lee Langford of Roxboro, one sister Phyllis Burke of Roxboro, twelve grandchildren also survive.
The body will lie in state Monday evening April 30, 2012 at the home. The family will be receiving friends other times at the home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday May 1, 2012 at Mill Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Dion Loving & Rev. Jimmy Pulliam. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Manley Raymond Hurley

Manley Raymond Hurley, 80, of 201 Montpelier Ave., Roxboro, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehab. Cent. in Roxboro. Born in Ashe County, Mr. Hurley was the son of the late Oscar and Mary Julia Severt Hurley. Mr. Hurley's wife of 59 years preceded him in death on December 28, 2011. Mr. Hurley retried from Piedmont EMC and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, where he was previously a deacon. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and storyteller. Mr. Hurley was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Hurley, Bryce Hurley and his sister, Edith Cook.
Mr. Hurley is survived by his daughter, Anita Duncan and husband Kim, of Wake Forest; three grandchildren, Christopher Gentry Duncan and wife Tanya, Beth Baucom and husband Daniel, and Juliana Duncan; one brother, Max Hurley, of West Jefferson; four sisters, Barbara Hurley, of Marion, VA, Judy Neaves, of West Jefferson, Ruby Cox, of Pilot Mountain and Willa Bauer, of Salem.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Westwood Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Hodges and the Rev. Jonathan Taylor. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-3 PM Sunday at Westwood Baptist Church prior to the service.
