George Raymond Carter, 89 of 2698 Woodsdale Road, went home to be with the Lord Monday November 21, 2011. Born in Caswell County son of the late Jasper Thomas Carter & the late Annie Mae Rogers Carter, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother James Edward Carter and two sisters Lelia Lowery & Pauline Cole. Mr. Carter was a US Army Veteran of W.W.II and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter Nancy Carter Hall & husband Kenneth of Southerlin, Va., two brothers Wallace Carter of Brosville, Va. & Arnold Carter of Roxboro, four sisters Dorothy Rutter of King of Prussia, Pa, Gwendolyn Hudson Of Fayetteville, Marie Barker of Powerton, Va. & Dean Smith of Shipman, Va., one granddaughter Dianna Hall, three step-grandchildren Patty Hall, Mark Hall & Joey Hall, thirteen step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great grandchild also survive,
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 26, 2011 one hour prior to the service 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday November 26, 2011 at the Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Deon Loving & Rev. Chad Branch. Interment will follow in Alton Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Doug Carter, Melvin Long, Richard Long, Kenneth Bowes, Ronnie Bowes & Tim Langford.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Frankie Gentry & F. T. Bowes
Woodrow Allen Myers
Born: 08/02/1944 Mecklenburg County, VA
Died: 11/24/2011 and resided in Granville County,
Woodrow Allen Myers, age 67, of 2083 Hester Rd., Stem, died Thursday, November 24, 2011. Born in Mecklenburg, VA, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Myers and Gracie Ford Myers and husband of the late Sylvia Buchanan Myers. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Couch. Mr. Myers was a retired arborist. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Crabtree of Littleton, Karen W. Bivins of Timberlake, Robin Stiles of Gadsden, AL, Pamela Funderburk and husband Mike of Durham and Loretta Rigsbee; four sons, Michael Myers of Wake Forest, Chris Dunn and wife Nicky of Creedmoor, Jimmy Whitfield of Roxboro, and Wayne Myers of the home; three sisters, Elizabeth Thomas of Franklinton, Louise M. Mangum of Henderson, and Becky Watson and husband Carl of Franklinton; two brothers, Benjamin Myers of Durham and George Myers of Arkansas; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor by the Rev. Johnny Huwett. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Cannada, Ray Bowen, Colton Bowen, Michael Funderburk, Jonathan Whitfield, Tyler Dunn, Chad Eakes and Cody Rigsbee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Linwood Ayscue and Josh Ayscue.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Brooks and White Funeral Home and other times at 209 Lamberth St. Apt. 1, Roxboro.

Clarice Ellis Lee

Clarice Ellis Lee age 90 formerly of 1591 Willow Oak Drive died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at the Croasdaile Village in Durham. She was born in Person County to the late James Marion and Maude Evans Ellis. Mrs. Lee was also preceded in death by her brother, Ballard Ellis. She was a member of the Somerset Baptist Church and a former employee of Carney's.
Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Cecil Lee (Margaret) of Durham, Dorothy Vann of Durham, Arch Lee (Paulette) of Willow Spring, and Wanda Wilkinson; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and 2 nephews.
The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Brooks & White Chapel with Mr. Mike Poole officiating and her granddaughter Teresa Wilkinson. Burial will be in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Lee, Scott Lee, Michael Wilkinson, Randy Parham, B.R. Wilkinson, Jamie Williams, Keith Wade, and Kevin Yandle.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 3:00 PM service on Sunday, 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM.

Mitchell Wayne Dixon

Mitchell Wayne Dixon, 51, of 255 Timberlake Dr., Timberlake, died Sunday, November 27, 2011. Born in Person County, Mr. Dixon was the son of the late William McKinnley Dixon and Mary Elizabeth Rickman Dixon Cross. Mr. Dixon was a landscaper and a member of The Lamb's Chapel of Haw River.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife, Michele Luckart Dixon; three step-children, Corrina Cartwright, of Roxboro, Bryan Valentine and Matthew Valentine, both of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Luther Dixon and Jerry Dixon, both of Hillsborough; one sister, Deborah Gruenwald, of Roxboro; four step-grandchildren, Carolyn Cartwright, Cassidy Cartwright, J.W. Cartwright and Jason Cartwright.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Thursday, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Pastor Brian Biggers. Burial will follow in the Dixon Family Cemetery on Caleb Epps Rd, Roxboro. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM Wednesday, at Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Rickman, Jr., Luther McKinnley Dixon, Jr., Jimmy Vaughan, Leon Hall, Wayne Smith, Ricky Spencer and Billy Joe Long.

Samuel Edward Mayton

Samuel Edward Mayton, 66 of 3582 West Thollie Green Road, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home. Mr. Mayton was born in Durham County, son of the late Artie Lee Mayton & the late Lucille Watson Mayton, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Ardie Lee Mayton, Jr. and one sister. He worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling of Roxboro for forty-three years and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife Patsy Brogden Mayton of the home, one son David Mayton of the home, one sister Maggie M. Holloman of Durham.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2011 at Crossroads Baptist Church by the Rev. Jason Holt.
The family will receive friends two hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday, December 2, 2011 at Crossroads Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

Ronnie Jural Adcock

Rougemount - Ronnie Jural Adcock age 58 of 1595 Glen Fogleman Road died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Durham Regional Hospital. He was born in Granville County to the late Henry Adcock. He was retired from Athol.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Morris Adcock of the home, his mother, Fannie Humphries Adcock of Henderson, two children, Greg Adcock of Rougemont and Brandi A. Wilson of Roxboro; three brothers, Leo Adcock, Melvin Adcock, and Cecil Adcock all of Rougemont; three sisters, Mildred A. Raynor and Debra A. Jackson both of Rougemont and Merle A. Clayborne of Henderson; three grandchildren, Emily Adcock, Jonas Wilson, and Amelia Wilson.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Brooks & White Chapel with the Dr. M. David Chambers officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 158, Berea.
Pallbearers will be Joe Whitt, Joey Whitt, Roy Whitt, Michael Riley, Scott Riley, Norman Adcock, and James Jackson.
