Sarah Virginia Mise Broach, 89, of 2596 Rolling Hills Rd., Roxboro, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro. Born in Caswell County, Mrs. Broach was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Mary Hamlett Mise and wife of the late Youel Neal Broach. Mrs. Broach was a homemaker and a member of Griers Presbyterian Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher.

Mrs. Broach is survived by her children, Yancey Neal Broach and wife Nancy, of Cary, Brenda Moore and husband Raeford and David Broach and wife Vivian, all of Roxboro and Kenneth Broach and wife Jan, of Burlington; one sister, Maggie Mise, of Leasburg; twelve grandchildren, Kathy Winstead, Amanda Garrett, Melanie Norman, Amy Creel, Cindy Powell, Jena Broach, Carrie Broach, Phillip Broach, Jacob Broach, Jeff Moore, Matt Moore and Nicole Holland; twelve great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Edward Broach and wife Willia, of Mooresville; her sisters-in-law, Nellie Mise, of Roxboro, Hilda Mise, of Yanceyville and Leona Mise, of Leasburg; her special friend and caregiver, Rebecca Mooney.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Rev. Vernon Wilkerson and the Rev. Richard LaDew. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM Thursday prior to the service at the Brooks & White Chapel and at other times at the home of her daughter, Brenda Moore, 2760 Rolling Hills Rd., Roxboro.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Winstead, Matt Moore, Jeff Moore, Greg Garrett, Phillip Broach, and Danny Mise.

Memorials may be made to Griers Presbyterian Church, 569 Griers Church Rd., Leasburg, NC, 27291 or United Hospice, 301 S. Church Suite 122, Rocky Mount, NC, 27803.

Elizabeth Yarboro Dunn Snow
Born: 11/13/1926 Person County, NC
Died: 10/23/2011 and resided in Roxboro, NC

Elizabeth Yarboro Dunn Snow age 84 of Badger Circle, formerly of Carriage House Memory Care Center in Greensboro, died Sunday evening at Person Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit. Born in Person County daughter of the late Johnnie Pat Yarboro & Annie Ann Carver Yarboro. She was owner and operator of Guys & Gals Beauty Salon and she was a member of Cavel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Snow, three brothers Coba Franklin Yarboro, Gaither Joseph Yarboro and William Edward Yarboro, three sisters Eula Frances Huff, Odessa Martin, and Doris Maxine Slaughter.

Surviving are her children, Martin "Dale" Dunn & wife Florence of Hampton, Va., Wanda Jo Dunn Newman & husband Hunter of Greensboro, Dale Ray Snow & wife Donna of Roxboro and Jean Holt of Creedmoor, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Brooks & White by the Rev. Don McKinney. Interment will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will bethe four grandchildren Martin Dunn II, Nannie Elizabeth Stremplel, Gabriel Snow, Mike Holt and Gary Slaughter & Frank Shotwell.

Dalmous Otto "Billy" Crumpler Jr.
Born: 08/15/1935 Richmond, VA
Died: 10/22/2011 and resided in Fayetteville, NC

Billy Crumpler Our dad was born in Richmond, Virginia, on August 15, 1935, He was the only child of Dalmous and Dorothy Crumpler who preceded him in death. His early life was spent on the Crumpler farm in Stedman, NC. At age 6 he began attending Edward's Military Academy in Salemburg, NC as a residential student. Dad told us stories of the marching and polishing boots when he was the smallest child in the school. He told us stories of the assaults he suffered playing on the school's football team because of his size and age. The characteristic of determination was showing itself early. At age 16 Dad joined the navy during the Korean War. He had to persuade his mother to sign the permission form for him to enter at such an early year. After his service in the navy, Dad had a 30 year distinguished career with AFFES.

Dad is survived by his wife Mary Anne Kennington Crumpler and his five children; Dottie McCullen (Zack) of Clinton, NC, Sam Crumpler of Fayetteville, David Crumpler (Karen) of Fayetteville. NC, Jonathan Crumpler (Erica) of Charlotte, Michael Crumpler (Maria Elena) of New York and five grandchildren; Zeke McCullen, Benjamin Crumpler, Madeline, Luke and Harris Crumpler. Dad is also survived by his dear caregiver of two years, Annie McIntyre and her daughter Ebony Byrd. Annie made everyday happy for him.

Dad was a man of deep and unwavering faith, his optimism in the most challenging of circumstances was an inspiration to all who knew him. His love of family and friends was a beautiful thing to see and experience. His style of caring was simple, you love with your whole heart. These things are the legacy he leaves for his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held for him at 11:00 a.m.on Wednesday, October, 26, 2011, at Hesters' Cemetery on Gordonton Road in Person County. This is a place he chose many years ago for this occasion. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Woody Wells. After the service, a luncheon will be held for family and friends at the Hester Home Place on Gordonton Road.

Our family cordially invites friends to come to the Crumpler residence at 433 Dwirewood Drive, Fayetteville on Tuesday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 to visit and reminisce.

Dad requested that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to Haymount United Methodist Church, the church he loved and served for over forty years. The address of the church is 1700 Fort Bragg Road, Fayetteville, NC, 28303.

Earl Stephen Moore
Born: 02/23/1921 Person County, NC
Died: 10/21/2011 and resided in Roxboro,

Earl Stephen Moore, age 90, of Roxboro, died Friday, October 21, 2011. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Stephen B. Moore and Annie Howard Moore and husband of the late Mabel Whitfield Moore. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny Paul Moore and Stephen Earl Moore, four brothers, Paul Moore, Howard Moore, Steve Moore and James "Billy" Moore, and one sister, Helen Moore Westbrook. Mr. Moore was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. He was a retired tobacco farmer. Mr. Moore was a longtime active Member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Moore Matheson and husband Baxter of Clayton, NC and Dianne Moore Marshburn and husband Ernest of Greenville, NC; one brother, Cleve Moore and wife Doris of Roxboro; one grandson, James B. Matheson and wife Mariah of Raleigh.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Donald Daniel. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James B. Matheson, Robert Moore, Charles Westbrook, Ray Moore, Randy Moore and Michael Moore.

The family will receive friends on Sunday prior to the service at Mt. Zion from 1:45 to 2:45 PM in the new fellowship hall.

Margaret Agnes Vaughn Berry
Born: 09/29/1932 Orange County, NC
Died: 10/21/2011 and resided in Hurdle Mills, NC

Margaret Agnes Vaughn Berry, 79, of 3200 Brown Rd., died Friday, October 21, 2011. Born in Orange County, Mrs. Berry was the daughter of the late Robert Young and Alma Christine Harris Vaughn and wife of the late William Delmo Berry, Sr. Mrs. Berry was a homemaker who loved her family and her church, Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a past president of the UMW and a longtime member of the Mary Martha Busy Ladies. She will be remembered for her stew, sourdough bread, and her fudge. Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Derby.

Mrs. Berry is survived by two sons, David Rodwell Berry, Sr., and William Delmo Berry, Jr., both of Hurdle Mills; two daughters, Margaret Elaine Berry, of Mebane, and Cynthia Jane Berry Horton, of Chapel Hill; one brother, Robert Young Vaughan, Jr., of Greensboro; one sister, Alma Rita Vaughn Brown, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, David Rodwell Berry, Jr., Shannon Melissa Berry, Meghan Carol Berry, Jake Butler Berry, and Brian Matthew Cates; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Lee Sigmon, Peyton Elaine Sigmon, Summer Grace Berry, and Autumn Paige Berry.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, October 24, 2011, at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stuart Milton and the Pastor Mark Hall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 PM to 7:30 PM, Sunday, at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and at other times at the home of David Rodwell Berry, Sr., 9221 Walnut Grove Church Rd., Hurdle Mills.

Pallbearers will be David Rodwell Berry, Sr., William Delmo Berry, Jr., David Rodwell Berry, Jr., Norman Horton, Christopher Todd Dixon, and Wanet Snipes.

Michael Joseph Brown Jr.
Born: 07/05/1930 Cleveland, OH
Died: 10/21/2011 and resided in Roxboro, NC

Michael Joseph Brown, Jr., 81, of 340 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro. Born in Cleveland, OH, Mr. Brown was the son of the late Michael Joseph and Katie Casey Brown. Mr. Brown served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He retired from Eaton Corporation.

Memorial services will be held 1 PM Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses by Harry Price.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Aimee Bryant Brown; five children, Roger Brown and Sandee Cane, both of Roxboro, Jean Brown, of Snow Camp, Tim Brown, of Raleigh and C.B. Brown, of Hurdle Mills; one brother, Eugene Brown, of Parma, OH; one sister, Mary Mazur, of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
