Mable Tilley Blalock, 83, of 185 Robert E. Blalock Rd., died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. Born in Durham County, Mrs. Blalock is the daughter of the late Lewis David and Maggie Lou Gates Tilley and wife of the late John Robert Blalock. She was preceded in death by one son, James E. Blalock. Mrs. Blalock retired from D.C. May.
Mrs. Blalock is survived by her children, Linda B. Harris, Brenda B. Robinson, Robert Eugene Blalock, and David Vernon Blalock, all of Rougemont; one sister, Mildred T. Tilley, of Bahama; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside rites will be held 2 PM, Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Blalock Family Cemetery at the home by the Rev. Cheryl Lawrence. Visitation will be held 7 PM to 8:30 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Randolph Rayford King Sr.

Randolph Rayford King, Sr., 88, of 437 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Roxboro Nursing Center in Roxboro. Born in Charlotte, NC, Mr. King was the son of the late William Lawrence and Lela Belle Black King. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Howard King, J.V. King and Nesbit King, and two sisters, Martha King Timberlake and Mary King Woody. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in Guam and Iwo Jima. Upon his return from the service, he went to work at the Roxboro Post Office as a mail carrier, later becoming assistant post master. He retired in 1984. He was a member of Roxboro Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member during his membership.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Mary Powell King; two sons and their wives, Randolph Rayford and Bonnie Hodnett King and Lawrence Monroe and Donna Long King; one granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth King.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the Roxboro Presbyterian Church by the Dr. James E. Efird. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be C.W. Boyette, Victor Powly, Sr., Gene Gideon, Mark Crumpton, Joel Powell, and Nesbit "Chip" King, Jr., and Andy Gentry.
Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM, Tuesday, at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Margie Duncan Clayton

Margie Elizabeth Duncan Clayton, 83, of 40 Beagle Rd., Roxboro, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at her residence. Born in Person County, Mrs. Clayton was the daughter of the late Elbert Harvey and Bertha Harris Duncan and wife of the late Algie Wesley Clayton. Mrs. Clayton was also preceded in death by her son, Wayne D. Clayton; three brothers, Jessie Duncan, Elbert Duncan, Jr., and Lebbie Duncan; and one grandson, Kevin Clayton. Mrs. Clayton was a homemaker and a member of Theresa Baptist Church.
Mrs. Clayton is survived by four children and their spouses, Thedford and Joyce Clayton, Stephen and Debbie Clayton, Joyce C. and Reid Satterfield and Terry and Rosie Clayton, all of Roxboro; two brothers, Dolian Duncan and Andrew "Sonny" Duncan, all of Roxboro; one sister, Desmonia Duncan, of Roxboro; seven grandchildren, Glenda Morales Todd Clayton, Stephen N. Clayton, Casey Sarver, Alan Satterfield, T.K. Clayton and Tyler Clayton; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2011, Theresa Baptist Church by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in the Clayton Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM, Tuesday at Theresa Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Todd Clayton, Casey Sarver, Stephen Clayton, Alan Satterfield, T.K. Clayton, and Tyler Clayton.

Carolyn Anne Langford Chambers

Carolyn Anne Langford Chambers, age 75 of 123 Bacon Road died Monday at Durham Reginal Hospital. Mrs. Chambers was born in Person County to the late George Howard Langford & Jennie Walker Langford. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carol Lynn Chambers Gibbs and four grandchildren. She was a member of Red Mountain Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chambers is survived by three sons Randy Thomas Chambers of Rougemont, Stanley Howard Chambers of Rougemont and Marion Leon "Worm" Chambers of Roxboro, four brothers George Langford of South Boston, VA, Tex Langford of Roxboro, Johnny Langford of Roxboro and Tim Langford of VA., two sisters Ethel Blalock of Rougemont and Mary Huntley of South Boston, VA, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at Red Mountain Baptist Church by the Rev. David Pryor. Interment will follow in the Aiken-Blalock Cemetery on County Line Road.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be: Randy Ashley, Joe Glenn, Tony Blalock, Doc Wilkerson, and Michael Gibbs.
Ruth Melton Dean

Ruth Melton Dean, 80, of Roxboro, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Cambridge Hills Assisted Living in Roxboro. Born in Person County, Mrs. Dean was the daughter of the late John M. and Marie Lowery Melton and wife of the late William Douglas Dean. Mrs. Dean retired from Central Carolina Farmers and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.
Mrs. Dean is survived by two sisters, Nancy Melton Wilkerson and husband Larry T., of Roxboro and Esther Melton Gillis and husband Royce A., of High Point; five nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews; two step-children, Mel Dean and wife Carmen, of Raleigh and Edie Dean Jacomet and husband Jeff, of Wilson; ten step-grandchildren; and her dear friend Debbie Kraft.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday at Olive Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Jason Wilkerson and the Dr. Victor Blackwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:30-8 PM, Thursday, at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Gillis, Ji Herrera, John Wrenn, Kevin Kraft, Daniel Dean, Tucker Jacomet, Josh Jacomet and Huel Puryear.

Bera Mae Laws Oliver

Bera Mae Laws Oliver, age 89, of Roxboro, died Sunday, October 30, 2011. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Bunnie Isaac Laws and Annie King Laws and wife of the late Walter Clyde Oliver, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Geneva Owen and Gladys Laws. Mrs. Oliver had worked as a Clerk at Value Pack in Roxboro for many years. She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Trent Oliver and wife Debbie; one daughter, Debbie O. Dickerson and husband Glenn; two grandchildren, Dawn Newcomb and husband Jessie and Walter Dickerson; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Dickerson, Hunter Newcomb and Bryson Newcomb.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Burchwood Cemetery by the Rev. Herbert Brown.
The family will receive friends at the home of her granddaughter, Dawn Newcomb, at 1066 Woodsdale Rd., Roxboro.
