Buford L. Brown age, 79, of 1024 John Oakes Road, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at his home. He was born in Alamance County and was the son of the late Henry Brown and Minnie Mae Sykes Brown. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers, He was retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Company after 35 years. He was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Betty Cates Brown of the home; one daughter, Tammy Chambers and husband Craig of Timberlake; one sister, Lillian Bennett of Hillsborough; three grandchildren, Autumn Chambers, Summer Chambers, and Gaige Chambers.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Five Forks Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Churchill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Boyd, Dale Brown, Danny Brown, Butch Murray, Buddy Hall, and Harry Sykes.
The family will receive friends 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Delma Holt Greene

Delma Holt Greene, age 86, of 240 Wesleyan Heights died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Person Memorial Hospital. Born in Person County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Thomas Holt and Sallie Carver Holt. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Nancy Davis, Mallie Paul, Elma Suitt (her identical twin), Rennie Clayton, and Navie Holt Paul, as well as one brother Harold Thomas Holt. Mrs. Greene had retired from Loxcreen where she had worked as an assembler for many years. She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of over 70 years, Edward Marshall Greene of Roxboro; one daughter, Carollyn Greene Pruett of Morganton; four sisters, Sadie Carver, Hurley Long, Texie Lou Wrenn and Annie Lee Duncan; three grandchildren, Steve Kelly Pruett, Holly Pruett Duncan and Wendy Pruett Young; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Scott Duncan, Lauren Kelly Duncan and Matthew Taylor Duncan; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 29, 2011 at Roxboro Baptist Church. The Dr. DuPre Sanders will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Harris, Tommy Suitt, Danny Ray Wrenn, Rollie Dee Long, Glenn Carver and Stanley Davis.
Friends are welcome to come to Brooks & White Funeral Home for viewing from 2:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday April 28, 2011 in the absence of the family. The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 AM Friday prior to the service at Roxboro Baptist Church and other times at the home of Linda and Tommy Suitt, 33 Peaceful Rd., Roxboro.

Myrtle Coates Carver

Myrtle Coates Carver, formerly of 507 Clayton Ave., died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. Born in Halifax County, VA, Mrs. Carver was the daughter of the late Callie and Nellie Mason Coates and wife of the late James Carver. Mrs. Carver was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Coates and Carroll Coates and one sister, Louise Shepard. Mrs. Carver retired from A & P and was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carver is survived by her brother, Cecil Coates, of Providence and her sister, Brenda Perkins, of Roxboro.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, April 29, 2011, Roxboro Baptist Church by the Dr. DuPre Sanders. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM, Thursday, Roxboro Baptist Church.

Orville Manuel Lang

Orville Manuel Lang, 78, of Roxboro died unexpectedly on April 26, 2011 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. Born June 26, 1932 in Chicago, he was the son of Oliver and Olive Lang. He served in the United States Army for three years during the Korean War and was a member of the 504th Transit Truck Company. He owned and operated many businesses through his working years, including gas stations in Chicago, IL, and auto repair shops in Chicago, IL, Modesto, CA, Arnold, CA and Roxboro, NC. He married Barbara Jane Yacketta on March 20, 1976. They resided in California before moving to Roxboro in 1993. After retiring, Orville spent his time caring for his wife and working on behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Barbara and their 12 children: Terry Ray, Julie Brown, Laura Gilbert, Steve Lang, Mark Broadwell, Marcy Lang, Arthur Broadwell, Kathy Gunnarson-Lackey, Greg Broadwell, Helena Wilkerson, Oren Lang-Furr and Heidi Chambers, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, five sisters: Louise Derbick, Shirley Connelley, Jeanette Dobbs, Gail Carpenter, Rosemary Lang, and many others who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Dickson. All who knew him will miss his sense of humor, his constant positive mood, his whistling, and most importantly - his ability to bring tears to the eyes of loved ones with his touching prayers.
Services will be 2:00pm on Saturday April 30th at the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 441 Burlington Road in Roxboro. Wesley Stone, Branch President will be officiating.
Carrie Wilson Carver

Carrie Wilson Carver, 89, of 2297 Ca-Vel Chub Lake Rd., ROXBORO, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Roxboro Nursing Center in Roxboro. Born in Person County, Mrs. Carver was the daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Mary Virginia Long Wilson and wife of the late Arthur "Mutt" Carver. Mrs. Carver retired from Person County Schools at Southern Junior High School. She was the last living charter member of Theresa Baptist Church where she was the first church secretary. She also taught Sunday School for over 35 years and helped with Vacation Bible School every year.
Mrs. Carver is survived by her daughter, Betty Wesley, of Roxboro; her brother, John Wilson, of Roxboro; two grandchildren, David Wesley and Bryant Wesley and wife Leslie and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday at Theresa Baptist Church by the Rev. Herbert Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM, Friday, at Theresa Baptist Church, Roxboro.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Clayton, Steve Lamberth, Coleman McCullock, Louis Harris, Wallace Clayton, and Rick Allen.

Doris Clayton Cash

Doris Clayton Cash, 82, of Timberlake, died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Durham Regional Hospital in Durham.
Mrs. Cash was daughter of the late Oscar and Grace Woodall Clayton, she was predeceased by four brothers, Jack, Berman, Howard, and Lem and six sisters, Sue Clayton, Beatrice Yarborough, Lucy Chambers, Carolyn Overby, Betty Hill, and Lousie Parker. Doris was a member of the Red Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Toy Edward Cash of the home, three children, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. David Pryor officiating. Burial will be in the Burchwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Oakley, Richard Cash, Curtis Cash, Heath Duncan, Hank Taylor, Scot Brooks, Chris Denny, Kevin Denny.
The family will receive friends 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Brooks & White Funeral Home and other times at the home of her niece, Rita Denny, 531 Chambers Loop Road, Timberlake.
