Otha "Buddy" Budd Pool, 64, of 150 Holloway Road, Roxboro, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Mr. Pool was born in Person County to the late Richard Nathaniel Pool and Hattie Beatrice Davis Pool. He is preceded in death by his two brothers: Richard Pool and Ralph Pool. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and most especially camping with his family.
Mr. Pool is survived by his wife, Rita Tate Pool of the home; two daughters: Lynnette Pool and Paige Gentry and husband, Steve, both of Roxboro; one brother, Ryland Pool of Roxboro; three sisters: Esther Carver (Tommy) of Roxboro, Marjorie Adcock (Ron) of Waynesboro, VA, and Janis Shotwell of Roxboro; seven grandchildren: Kyle Gentry, Dylan Gentry, Seth Gentry, Rhiannah Holt, Davis Holt, Chopper, and Harley; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church and other times at the home.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 22, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. Dennis McDonald. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Gentry, Kyle Gentry, Dylan Gentry, Seth Gentry, Steve Tingen, Doug Conner, and Davis Holt. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Mangum and Daniel Conner.

Dorothy Henrichs Lemken Sloane

Dorothy Henrichs Lemken Sloane, 91, of Roxboro, died Saturday, April 2, 2016. Born in Lynbrook, NY, Mrs. Sloane was the daughter of the late Theodore W. Henrichs and Kathryn Kley Henrichs Lingner and wife of the late Charles W. Lemken and John E. Sloane, Sr. Mrs. Sloane held various executive and legal secretarial positions and later retired as an accountant from IBM in 1992. While in college, she was a member of the Phi Zeta Kappa Honor Society at FDU, Phi Omega Epsilon, and the Honor Society in Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, a member of the executive committee for the Constitution Island Association, the American Needlepoint Guild, the Embrioder's Guild of America and the Cold Spring Garden Club. She also loved to travel.
Mrs. Sloane is survived by her children, Louise Verni, of Timberlake and Bruce Lemken and wife Barbara, of Emerson, NJ; one step-son and four step-daughters; her grandchildren, Charles Lemken and wife Monica, of Emerson, NJ and Michael Lemken and wife Charraye, of Washington Township, NJ; one great-grandchild, Lily Sophia Lemken.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Dr. M. David Chambers. Burial will be held at a later date in Brookside Cemetery in Englewood, NJ. Visitation will be held 1-2 PM Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home prior to the service.

Lottie Mae "Jinx" Clayton

Lottie Mae "Jinx" Clayton, 90, of 5660 Durham Rd., Roxboro, died Monday, March 28, 2016. Born in Person County, Mrs. Clayton was the daughter of the late J. Lester (Joe Billy) and Mattie Lee Tuck Clayton and wife of the late Raymond L. (Whitey) Clayton. Mrs. Clayton graduated from Roxboro High School and later graduated from Mars Hill College. Mrs. Clayton retired from Graham Duncan, Inc. and was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church. She was also the troop leader for Ca-Vel Girl Scout Troop #24. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Virginia (Jenny) C. Tucker.
Mrs. Clayton is survived by her daughter, Sheilah Clayton-Saterlund and husband Scott; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Sean, and Eric and wife Paige.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Brooks & White Chapel by the Dr. DuPre Sanders. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM, Wednesday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Stephanie Welch, Sean Welch, Eric Welch, Rick Rogers, Tommy Clayton, and Rudy Lopez.

Marsha Ann Harrison age 47 of 358 2nd Street died Friday, April 10, 2009 at her home. She was born in Person County. Marsha was employed with Pepsi Bottling Company.
Surviving are her father, Frank R. Jennings of King, NC; her mother Judy M. Martin of Roxboro; two children, Kimberly Nichole Harrison-White of Vancouver, WA; Steven Brian Harrison, II of Timberlake; and her grandchild Addison White.
A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Brooks & White Chapel with the Rev. Merritt Buchanan officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service.

Gary Ray Clayton

Gary Ray Clayton, 57, of 211 Stoney Mountain Rd., died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center. Born in Person County, Mr. Clayton was the son of the late Ulysses Grant “Buck” and Irma Mae Bowes Clayton. Mr. Clayton was a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church for over 30 years.
Mr. Clayton is survived by his wife, Louann Carver Clayton; three children, Bobby Ray Clayton, of Timberlake, Phillip Wayne Clayton, of the home and Melanie Ann Clayton, of Greenville; two brothers, Thomas Clayton, of Laurens, SC and Basil Clayton, of Bahama; six sisters, Corene Whitfield, of Bahama, Shirley Kenion, of Rougemont, Sandy Martin, of Roxboro, Patricia Newton, of Timberlake, Joan Champion, of Roxboro and Madgeline Wrenn, of Milton; one grandchild, Shelbie Lynne Clayton. Mr. Clayton was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Clayton.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday at Faith Independent Baptist Church by the Pastor Ron Pruitt. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-8:30 PM Thursday at Faith Independent Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Terry, Mike Palmer, Daniel Wright, Ronnie Pierce, Tony Cook, Johnny Martin, Robert Parker and Kenneth Brown.

Dorothy Snipes Jennings

Dorothy Snipes Chapman Jennings, age 94, formerly of Lewisville, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 morning at Roxboro Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Roxboro. She was born in Person County to the late Elijah and Ina Snipes. Mrs. Jennings was predeceased by her first husband, Elmer Chapman and her second husband, Paul Jennings; her stepson, Larry Jennings; her sister, Eleanor Lambert, and her brothers, Arch, Dan, Edgar, and Stedman Snipes.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of Berry’s Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Bell South. Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine.
Surviving are her brother, Alfred Snipes (Joyce) of Timberlake; her stepson, Daniel Jennings (Janet) of Lewisville; her stepdaughter, Tona Torrandell (Ramon) of Orlando, FL; four step grandchildren, Lisa Robertson, Tara Gates, Ramon Torrandell, III, and Rebecca Heisey; one brother-in-law, Roy Jennings, two sisters-in-law, Grace Spainhour (Paul Ray) and Edith Jennings; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 4:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Brooks and White Chapel with the Rev. Craig Willingham officiating. Burial will be in the Burchwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
